  1. He didn't for me. Another bug perhaps? His dialogue indicates that he is afraid of the cultistis, as he can give you one of his "Captain, I'm scared!" reactions there. Why would he approve when you do the very thing that scares him?
  2. No, you didn't miss anything, there is just not enough info to answer those questions with certainty. You might want to check this thread, there are some theories here: https://forums.obsidian.net/topic/98322-ending-spoilers-the-ending-of-deadfire-and-what-it-means-for-the-lore/
  3. I think it's for the sake of balance, yes. But while I can believe that the four godlike types we players get wouldn't be able to wear hats (as they all have some sort of horns), it seems really weird that Pallegina and Tekehu can't wear them too. Their heads have perfectly normal shapes, it's just their hair that is unusual.
  4. Has anyone been able to test if Xoti vs Pallegina scene now triggers correctly? Companions annoyed barks still seem to be broken with the latest patch, I keep clicking for a minute and can't get a single one of them trigger (before I could at least get them once or twice).
  5. I don't think you can. You can set it to install on launch instead of auto install, but that's it. You'd have to always play in offline mode to avoid downloading patches.
  6. I don't know if this is a bug, but you get this line with any background (along with "It's rare to see one of your kind so far north" or something like that, which I get even on my Living Lands character - what are you even talking about, people, my homeland is as far in the north as it can be!).
  7. Death godlike get a lot of reactions. I think my favorite was an option to tell a thug that tried to rob me "Do you see my face? Wanna know what I did in my previous life so that Berath would make me look like this?" which made the guy reconsider and back off. Reminded me of the fun I had playing a Nosferatu in VtMB.
  8. I think they aren't really bugged, just inconsistent when it comes to companions.
  9. My ending claimed that I somehow saw Maia and Xoti together often, with Xoti staying in Neketaka and Maia going back to Rauatai. So I now have a headcanon that the VTC managed to master proper teleportation, and we can all jump all over the world whenever we want
  10. I just skipped the final slide completely. Nothing can force me go back to the Dyrwood. NOTHING. How about a Watcher who is from Deadfire? What "home" do they go back to?
  11. Huana as a faction are not against slavery though, they only ban trading natives, but it's not illegal if it's other races that are being enslaved. The whole problem with Castol and Master Kua comes from Kua trading the Wahaki. The only one who is completely against slavery is Aeldys, but she is hardly the good guy for a whole lot of other reasons.
  12. By the way, do we ever tell anyone why Eothas wants to destroy the Wheel (to stop the gods from feeding off mortals' souls, among other things)? I might be wrong, but the way I remember it, all we say after the Ashen Maw is "Eothas is going to Ukaizo, he is going to destroy the Wheel". And nobody cares to ask how or why. Also, gods or no gods, the new companions certainly know about Thaos. They bring him up in the party banter a couple of times. But, apparently, they have no idea what Thaos' whole business was about.
  13. That's how I understood it too, so I'm very curious about where this information comes from.
  14. Where is this stated? I could see things happening this way, but it there any information in the game supporting this version of events? Iovara certainly doesn't say that she learned about "the plans", and it seems the gods were already there at the time of her death as her soul got stuck at the Court of the Penitents.
  15. I was surprised that there was no option to kick someone out. In the first game we could give Durance the boot at any time and refuse to keep Aloth around after a certain plot point. I think it would be reasonable to at least give us an opportunity to kick Maia out after her quest, same as it was with Aloth after Act 2. Another thing that could use some tuning is companion +1 and +2 (as well as -1, -2) conversations triggering the moment you hit the required relationship mark. I think it would be more convinient if those were player-initiated, not companion-initiated, because the way it is now it leads to some awkward situations like people confessing their love and eternal devotion to you while standing knee-deep in enemy corpses. I once hit +1 with Maia in a scripted interaction on some random map, and the moment we loaded into the location right next to a bunch of ogres she decided it was a great time to flirt with me. The ogres patiently waited. Instead, perhaps those things could trigger after resting, or give us a separate line to pick, like "You look like you want to talk", which would lead to the companion expressing their thoughts about your relationship.
  16. It doesn't really take much to see that Tekehu is quite different from what his initial impression suggests though. Do people dump him immediately after meeting him? My first reaction to Tekehu after the initial dialogue was "Errr, you can't be serious" as well. But then we went straight to the Gullet, and boom, turns out he isn't really as self-absorbed as it seemed, he actually cares a lot. Then we came go back to the Watershapers guild, and there was that student struggling with his Forms, and Tekehu was suddenly helpful and encouraging towards him, so it became obvious that while full of himself, he wasn't even remotely arrogant. Two short encounters, and I was already warming up to him.
  17. Aloth and Eder both clearly cared in their conversation with Iovara, and Aloth isn't even religious. Hell, thousands of people that followed Iovara centuries back obviously cared enough to die for it. It's only natural to assume that the two most religious companions to whom gods are a very big deal, even on a personal level, would at least have something to say about it. It might not mean much to them in the end, but they can't just completely ignore it and pretend they didn't hear anything. Though I'm having difficulties trying to imagine Tekehu just going "So this 'goddess' whose influence shaped my entire existence and caused the greatest dilemma of my life was actually created by mortals? Meh, who cares". I'd say it should be a very big deal in his internal conflict.
  18. What if I don't use twitter outside of work? I wanna be a 0.0000000000001 part of a god too!
  19. This is exactly what happened to me. I also had Tekehu in my party, which didn't help either. Maia and Serafen not reacting I can somewhat understand, half of POE1 companions didn't react to Iovara's words as well, but these two? And while we are at it, I would appreciate an option to tell Tekehu about the fun I had drowning in Ionni Brathr because of his dearest mom.
  20. This is such a perfect nickname. I'm sorry, I realise you people are struggling here, but I can't help laughing reading your tales woe. How did they even manage to screw up Aloth so badly in terms of bugs? Every other companion seems to be doing relatively fine.
  21. You know the funniest part? You can have a conversation about the gods not being real with Aloth while other party members are listening. They react to other parts of your conversation, but ingore this one. Better yet, at one point Eothas himself says that the gods are artificially created and used to be mortal Engwithans right to the party's faces. Aaaaand... nothing. I can understand not being able to run around Neketaka telling everyone, people will probably think you are crazy anyway. But the way our companions just ignore Eothas dropping this info bomb seems like super lazy writing.
  22. I don't think so. The Scarlet Chorus don't need Amelia to renounce her right to rule, they need exactly the opposite: an heir to the land must live so that the Edict of Storms would remain in force. That's why Nerat keeps the girl alive even though he kills Amelia. There is simply no use for the legal loophole because the Chorus' situation is entirely different. Now, the fact that you can't say "Screw you, I'm going solo" and betray them, saving the baby AND her mother, is indeed strange. But it's not the only such instance in the game.
  23. i got a weird bug on my Chorus -> anarchy playthrough with that baby. In theory she should have remained with the Scarlet Chorus because what else, but the slides claimed I killed Amelia and left the baby in the Blade Grave where, apparently, she was able to survive all on her own since the edict was still in power. Nerat claims they will raise her as a proper Chorus lady though. She is in for some tough life. Also, I don't think there is an option to even use the stat check on the Chorus path. Their goal is to keep the edict, not to break it. I tried to provoke them there hoping to get a "betray alliance" option, but nope. The only choice you can make is whether to give Amelia to Nerat along with the baby or kill her right there.
  24. Me too. Poor Aloth, like having him die or commit suicide in the ending slides where he is on his own isn't enough. Alistair was also guilty of that. Sometimes he would say "Yes my love?" when you click on him even if you're just friends. Bugs, bugs everywhere.
