No perception, intelligence, or resolve? No wonder! You can’t see the rope, don’t know what ropes are, and we’re too afraid to admit it to anyone in the party! =D

I can definitely see why some characters would chase Benweth, but the less vengeance minded have a more important quest to follow. =D And it’s good to pick up Tekehu / Pallegina / Maia early. -
Tekehu is probably like that because of the whole confident/no confidence theme he has going on. Maia has some very shady reasons to romance you, even if she gets too attached (as these tropes often go). Only Xoti seemed really bizarre to me, simultaneously strong and defiant to others but then desperate for the affection of... almost anyone.

Unreliable Narrative is definitely the way to go, for two very important reasons. 1) The gods seem to see everything through the lens of their portfolio. Most of them are unaware or dismissive of opinions that do not fit within their portfolios, so it makes perfect sense for them to interpret the events that happen through those narrow lenses. Everything Eothas says is through the lens of Eothas and how he sees the world. Another god would have a different perspective. 2) Most of the gods are not very smart. Berath seems like the most intelligent, or at least able to see multiple sides of a discussion, but even gods like Abydon and Magran seem... intelligent but not wise. As for the rest of the gods, you outright trick Rymrgand and Skaen, Hylea doesn’t realize the dragon egg in her temple can represent new life and birth until you point it out to her, and Ondra makes several mistakes. -

True! Though in my first game I did the old city before undercroft because they raised the lift on me! I’m still grumpy I cannot yell at them for that. -

Eder thinks orlans are animals. Does that mean Eder gives her skritches and tries to make Vela fetch? -
I always play with visible reputation, mostly because it's hard to tell the tone of your replies. Some are really obvious, especially the Cruel / Benevolent / Passionate ones. But I cannot tell the Honest / Rational / Diplomatic ones apart. And sometimes the Aggressive ones are hard to tell unless it's an obvious "I'm attacking you now!"

both Reps should show up on your meter. But yeah, Maia should definitely have words about that. -

Port Maje > Neketaka Palace > Everything Else In Neketaka > Talk to Serafen and make a plan > Deadlight > Dunnage. This feels the most natural, in hindsight. Also gets you the Principi Flag from Dereo (diplomatically or violently). -
Castol cares about mass innovation, and the trickle down effect of their technology is certain to benefit the Huana the same way that the invention of electricity benefits countless people in our own world. And we're also forgetting that the VTC have been in the region for over 100 years, predating the entire Kahanga unification. They have plenty of 'natives' who consider Deadfire to be their home as well. They have been making 'moderate' with the locals for generations, and will probably never really leave. Not as long as the population of Deadfire needs their Walmart. None of this is to say that the VTC are good people. They are essentially a fantasy mega corporation, with all the potential mustache twirling that implies. But the game makes it clear that the mustache twirlers are only some of the VTC. Ironically, the Kahanga are the most racist faction in the game. We constantly hear the Huana tribes saying they want foreigners to get off their lawn. But many of those foreigners are natives to the Deadfire and have been their entire lives. They just aren't the same race. Even the the RDC has several non-Aumaua that seem pretty cool with things. How many non-Aumaua Kahanga do we see?

The Huana caste system is really bad. I mean, even assuming their specific reincarnation system is true... the story shows us far more Roparu than any other caste combined, and we are repeatedly told that the Roparu numbers are swelling dramatically. That means the you have to spend several 'cycles' suffering as a Roparu before you get one 'cycle' as any other caste unless you are just put in some kind of soul-based time out. On top of that, there are at least five times where the Huana reference being reincarnated as random animals and sea life. So they seem to believe that it's a valid consequence for at least really unpleasant people. Then you have non Roparu who can't even contribute to their society without sneaking around, like that guy in Tikawara who knows common sense farming tips about seeds and can't do anything about it because of his caste, even though it's going to cause people to starve and die (starving being a pretty horrendous way to die). For all the horrors of colonialism, at least the Castol VTC and RDC are going to dramatically raise quality of life for the majority of Huana citizens within a generation or two.

If there is any nerf, it would probably be to healing in general. I wouldn't mind seeing some kind of 'Total HP Healed' limit return like there was in POE1. I don't mean bringing back the resting mechanic or health per day, but there could be a health per encounter that would create a limit to how much you could heal in an individual fight.

This is DEFINITE cheese, but if it belongs anywhere it belongs in this thread. The moment you arrive in Neketaka, you can sneak through the sewers and get into the Vailian Trading Company. Go upstairs and pick Director Castol's door for 150xp. Any time you leave that map and come back, the door will be locked again for another 150xp. The guards don't care if you pick it. Obviously this is insanely boring. But it is infinite and available pretty early.
