  1. No they don't. I use voice inflection during presentations and all speech (especially poetry, which rap is) has rhythm. Rap is not music. I don't even have a clue where you get 'melody' from, because that would make, say, me quoting Doc Holliday from Tombstone, 'melody'. At the most it's a bad poetry presentation at open mike night down at Pete's Pub. Rap is not music. I never said it wasn't an artform if done right (I'm quite partial to the work of people like Saul Williams myself), but whoever says it's music needs to need a big smack in the face with the 'stop being such a goddamned tool' hammer. And most of the things you here at MTV aren't even poetry (therefore, not even rap, despite what they might want to tell you). The most heinous thing about rap is, though, the people who listen to it. Chavs and gangstas. The world would be a better place if their filthy, leeching scum was wiped from the face of the planet. And nobody would have to listen to Eminem talk about his **** again.
  2. Dude, you completely misinterpreted everything I said. I never said singing was neccesary. If it was, I wouldn't be a rabid Mogwai fan. I just said talking isn't music, and talking over a drum machine and a sample does not equel music, no matter how you try to spin my words. It's not music, it's a poetry presentation with aural ambience, nothing more, nothing less. I still don't understand how anyone ever came up with the idea of classifying it as a genre. That people consider rap music doesn't change the fact that it isn't. I mean, there are still people out there who consider Hitler a good guy too. What people consider means diddley squat. If it were music, then street gangs would be considered as girly as The West Side Story. Because that's the kind of context in which gangs who use music goes.
  3. Wait, you screw around over Green Day, but you like rap? I mean, Green Day is pretty bad, but rap isn't even music. Lyrics are not music. Especially if spoken, not sung.
  4. No, Dookie was a totally incredible album. I really don't understand how they could have fallen so far. Also, how can Green Day and Busted be compared? It's not like Busted actually tries to write music. They're not serious. Green Day does try to write good music, they just keep ****ing it up.
  5. Fact remains that most artists don't even make money of record sales. We're not stealing from the artists, we're stealing from the people who are stealing from the artists. They are in desperate need of a reality check. And most of us try to give it back to the actual artists by going to their shows and buying their merchandise. The only thing downloading has done for me is introduce me to a bunch of good artists. Modest Mouse, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, the EElS. Stuff I never would have heard of without having downloaded it. I bought their merchandise and went to their shows afterwards (or at least tried to, I missed Clap Your Hands Say Yeah not so long ago... but I did buy their record, which is self-released and therefore goes straight to them) I sometimes download music and don't go to the shows or buy merch. Why? Because it's not good enough. I wouldn't have bought their records either way. The RIAA is an organisation that keeps biting the hands that feed them. They keep alienating and patronising the people who are, despite their apparent denial of this, still their consumer base. If you're going to do something, you should at least be professional about it. The RIAA isn't. EDIT: Of course, there are some stupid people out there who don't. They called down the thunder, they got it. Thankfully, most of these are chavs who only listen to whatever poopy rap artist they saw on MTV.
  6. Right, because when they do it, it's wrong, when you do it, it's fine. The death penalty is hypocrisy at it's finest.
  7. I'm sorry, WHO got back together? If you had told me a couple years back that Greenday was going to become more popular than ever, I'd have been fine with it. Now? Not so much. American Idiot was terrible and not deserving of such fame. I suppose that's why they got it.
  8. Alter Bridge - Metalingus I feel like the world has imploded and became even more bizarre. Creed was terrible. How could they just switch singers, change their guitar tuning, and sound so goddamn awesome?
  9. Gee, excuse me if I don't read through every thread.
  10. That's what I thought too, but he really was outnumbered. And Hulk Hogan was on their side. That guy grins and suckerpunches. Still, it's Chuck Norris. He can touch MC Hammer.

    Cars...

I HATE ALL OF YOU! ...I get car sick...
  12. http://www.albinoblacksheep.com/flash/showdown Or the fight for it, anyway.
  13. Metallica - Eye Of The Beholder Switched to Pearl Jam - Release
  14. He's ;gothish; not goth. I actually like the fact he's not as hardcore than most goths. It makes him seem more oringial as opposed to most posers. Also, all my characters have a bit of me in them and I happen to adore Alice In Chains(R.I.P. Layne Staley) so that's my personality peeking through. Also, I probably didn't mention that as a favour ot my friend, Cordell is gay. Excuse ant typos I made, it's 3:30 in th morning and I'm smashed as hell ad tired from moshpitd. EDIT: Man, I am so ****ing sorry for this post. Anyway, it's vector art. Flash. Also, Cradle of Filth is for posers. If you're going to take an extreme metal band, at least take one whose demographic isn't 15 year old girls.
  15. Character design. I messed up the leg. Eh. Cordell Funderbunk, an occult-obsessed goth-ish person. Bigger version here: http://vehiko.homestead.com/files/CordellColour.png Pointers appreciated.
  16. Type O Negative - Back In The USSR Live - Beatles Cover HILARITY!
  17. EElS - Elizabeth On The Bathroom Floor Gary Jules - Mad World Dashboard Confessional - This Old Wound The Foo Fighters - Razor Also, KoRn - Daddy, but for entirely different reasons than the others.
  18. Audioslave - Your Time Has Come I don't care what anyone says, Audioslave is ****ing awesome. People complain that they sound too clean, but most bands sound so clean because of studio mixing and whatever, and these guys actually sound clean because of their SKILL. That gives them some serious points for awesomehood.
  19. What a great scientific achievement.
  20. You ****. I just spent the whole day at that site because of you. These guys are ****ing awesome. I especially like the 'worst black metal photos' parts.
  21. True...except for the one graphic application that really matters...GAMES! What, games matter? I thought they were just distraction and escapism? My friend makes a living doing comics and he uses a Mac. I'd think if you can make a living using your computer, it matters more than gaming. Unless you're one of those pimple-faced weirdoes who thinks gaming is actually a sport, despite the fact you don't really DO anything.
  22. It was amusing for a while, yes. This while came over four years ago.
  23. I really don't care whether there are guys or gals in the boardroom. Either way they're beauracratic freaks.
