Oh, don't get me wrong. I have an enormous loyalty to, for example, my parents. They raised me which must have been a complete pain in the butt. Close relatives whom I actually have a bond with are very important to me. But relatives I can't stand and who can't stand me can go jump into a hole for all I care. I don't think simple genetics is a reason to believe there is some deeper connection between us.

Wha the hell...distracted from... what? Okay, you know what? You're right! I WAS distracted! I mean, I was going to give ALL THAT MONEY to charity! And I forgot because I put on Thriller, a part of my youth's musical soundtrack! If it hadn't been for Michael Jackson's death, I would have helped children in Africa! I mean, I didn't give them anything! And I had my whole day planned on giving them SO MUCH. Seriously, man. You disgust me (for purposes of this thread). You're using somebody's death to guilt people into your own agenda. It doesn't matter if it's a good agenda, because the end doesn't justify the means. For all your posing and posturing, you're using a strategy fit only for the worst of the species. EDIT: Okay, so maybe I was a little harsch, but I'm keeping this post as I originally wrote it. A high horse begets people wanting to climb on even higher horses. Not that it matters, because apparently Lord of Flies is only bothered by this being the case for Americans. And I'm not.

Hahahahahaha!! Welcome! Enjoy your stay! I bet the money makes it even more enjoyable than ours!

That's a pretty lame reason indeed, but the whole "you gotta stick by your kin" schtick is something I don't really agree with. Maybe it's that I have like fifteen aunts and uncles all with accompanying nephews and nieces who almost invariably turned out to be total and utter human waste. I spent the whole day just hanging out with my girlfriend. I took her to a carnaval, hoorays!

Also, Shih Kien, a very famous japanese actor, mostly known for playing villains in like every wuxia film, and for playing Han from Bruce Lee's Enter The Dragon. Not a legend so much in the western world, but a legend nonetheless.

BREAKING NEWS: Michael Jackson is dead!

No arguments here. -
Not sure how to react to that; half of that made me wince and the other half was funny as heck.

BREAKING NEWS: Michael Jackson is dead!

Whatever is true or not and whatever you think of it, I'm pretty sure that Michael Jackson is pretty much the world's greatest and worst example of "because society made him that way". -

I'm not sure how having a heart attack is karmic payback for child molestation. Anyway, I'll listen to thriller today in his weirdass memory. Also, apparently they don't die in threes. -
Also, I didn't realize Tom Cruise was that one guy in Tropic Thunder until the end credits.

Dungeon Keeper is pretty much the pinnacle so far of playing evil. Torture, imprisonment, starvation, fireballing and just generally beating the **** out people... and that's just your own minions!

Yeah, Knowing made me terribly sad, especially because Alex Proyas can do so much better.

Actually, I'm definately going to be checking those out. It sounds quite awesome! For the last few weeks I have been on a MAJOR Soul Coughing kick. I am so pissed I missed out on these guys when they were still around, but I feel that way about a lot of artists. It seems I alway come late to the party. They called themselves "Deep Slacker Jazz", so I guess right now that's my favourite genre. Haha! Here's an example of them live, which I never got to experience in person:

Let's create the worst fantasy setting ever.

But you just specified it was an undead plague! -
I saw The Proposal as a date movie. I actually enjoyed it far more than I think I was supposed to. Ah, what the hell. Who cares, I'm man enough to admit I love me some silly RomCom. I love Jim Carrey being silly though. He's one of my favourite actors in both modes. Actually, with Jim Carrey being one of my favourite actors, Zooey Deschanel being my favourite actress, Eels being my favourite band (they did the soundtrack) and my appreciation of the basic RomCom, it's no wonder Yes Man was my favourite movie of last year.

Or we could just link to Dominic Deegan. Actually. I changed my mind. It's the best AND worst fantasy setting ever. -
And nobody said anything that silly. Nor does anyone have to justify their opinion to you. If someone thinks something you like is crap, they're going to say it. No use getting your panties in a twist over it. That's just a waste of energy and very intolerant. I'm listening to some enjoyable Finntroll.

You're certainly upset over people not liking a band. Lighten up and become tolerant of other people's opinions. Can't say I like Dragonforce myself. The best description I have ever heard of them was "playing fast does not equel playing good". I much prefer something like Kamelot when it comes to power metal. In fact, I'mma put on March of Mephisto right now.

This has been bothering me all day now. There are no proper anthems anymore. All the stuff I listen to that I think is really worthwhile is usually small, personal stuff that probably doesn't matter as much to anyone but me. What happened to music to make them stop making the We Will Rock Yous and Bricks in the Wall?

What car would you like to have if you could pick anyone

I think most people would rationalize that as having failed in helping that person. So be good, for goodness sake!

I was wondering why that was cancelled. I know plenty of people watched it.

Hey, no offense, but what's with all the subgenres? Now I only listen to a handful of metal bands, but it strikes me that metal and rock, things that are pretty much about rebelling, upsetting established order and primal emotions (also occasionally death, war and battle) shouldn't be subjected to all this classifying and organising. I kind of think genres are silly anyway. Bands who get placed or place themselves in a genre often seem to be unwilling to break new boundaries or experiment It's pretty much why every new upset in rock music is followed by a slew of crappy copycats, like the punk, grunge and nu-metal movements (punk slowly degenerated into bull**** like Fallout Boy by way of things like Blink 182). And also it causes the original bands jump ship in these movements so they can break the label and still make the music they want (bands like Pearl Jam continued their careers taking great care to alienate everyone except for the most loyal of their fans by making music that just wouldn't appeal to the casual rocker of that time). In fact, all that categorisation is probably one of the reasons most genres or subgenres don't make it past their first wave before degenerating into crap. Crossing genre boundries or even slightly changing your sound is extremely dangerous and often leads to your fanbase abandoning you. This is why the most enduring bands, like AC/DC, are often that bands that just release the same album over and over again. I much prefer something like Eels. They've covered the range from pop to rock to blues to country and always try (though not always succeed) to come up with something entirely new. I guess if I had to say a genre I liked best it would be 'Indie Rock', but saying that is ridiculous because while most artists I listen to fit that label it can hardly be described a 'genre' because half the bands have no common factor other than releasing their material on independants and more than 90% of it is utter tripe.
