  1. I've been doing some research on ADHD and I'm noticing that all the information I find on the Innatentive type applies to me. I'm going to make a doctor's appointment as soon as I can, which will be tomorrow. I even wrote it down on my hand so I'll remember. Thanks everyone. Bah. Now I'm procrastinating work by doing research about why I'm procrastinating.
  2. True. That wasn't my point anyway. You were complaining about changes, but with brands like these there's so much conflicting source material that the only thing you can make a convincing canon with is the toys. So I don't get that, it's changed from a toy. Is this a big deal? Toys aren't very deep. I don't really give the rest of it any ****. I'd be a hypocrite is I did, considering I love me some Beast Wars. I'm still sad that proposed Jurassic Park cartoon about hybrid dinosaurs based on the Jurassic Park: Chaos Effect line fell through. That was going to be awesomebad. :D
  3. I haven't been following the E3, but I read a little article about it in a newspaper and it was all about new casual games.
  4. Maybe you should find different work. It sounds to me that the main reason why you are so distracted and cannot fouc on work is because you don't particularly like it. Also, a caring friend with a taser would help to. Here's the thing. I LOVE my work. But with work I also mean my own projects. Art projects, writing projects, animation projects, mod projects, music projects etc. I enjoy these things immensely yet I cannot bring myself to work on them. Caring friend with a whip, boss, they honestly don't really help. Also, bad move on my boss' part. I now have internet connection at work. I shouldn't be posting this! In fact, I am shutting down my LAN right now just in case. FAIL. DAMMIT.
  5. As I posted in another thread: Look, it's Malak. In Black.
  6. Tried that one, but it didn't work.
  7. That does make sense, Kaftan. And your examples are familiar. I'll try that. Thanks. I think I will also make an appointment with my doctor. Maybe Krezack is right, and any help focusing is needed for me. Although pills seems kind of like a copout way and I sort of hope it isn't ADD because I somehow feel I should work for it? Atone for my sin of not doing my freaking job/work/even my own projects? Thank you peoples! Any other advice is still very welcome.
  8. Haha! Well, I can't say for sure I have enough money to justify being a game that many times (and I expect it will be many). It is something I can try in a different way. I could make images of my games and bring the physical copies to somewhere else (say, my ladyfriend's house) and just delete the images. But there are more factors that distract me. And I'm not about to smash my guitars. Plus, even with no distractions sometimes I just can't bring myself to work.
  9. Yeah, I was hoping that on this video game developer forum there might be people with experience. I do fit the criteria ADHD Type 2 (Predominantly Inattentive) according to the DSM-IV if Wikipedia is to be believed, but I feel it is a learned behavior more than that. Occassionally I have bouts of motivation and I do weeks worth of work in five hours. I don't know if that fits ADD. The irony hurts me, yes. The last time I tried something like that, I came home with intricate patterns and designs on my arms, made with simple pen and ink. I know this sounds like I am stubbornly avoiding this possible solution to keep procrastinating, but everything has the potential to distract me. My current job is a 3D special effects artist on an animated short film, I work in a basement with bare walls except for two pieces of concept art. All I have there is a computer and a render farm. Yet sometimes I zone out for long periods of time, sometimes hours of just staring into nothingness. Or at least, if I am thinking about something, I forget about it when I snap out of it. I guess I should think of seeking counsel. Isn't it a pain?
  10. You think you're funny, huh? YOU THINK YOU ARE GODDAMNED FUNNY!? Well, I laughed. But seriously. I'm starting to fear I'm never going to achieve anything and it's all my own fault but I don't know how to fix it.
  11. I need help. I have serious problems getting work done. I let myself get distracted by all kinds of things. If there's nothing around to get distracted by, I even get distracted by my own thoughts. I prefer everything over work, even work that I know is important. I have almost no motivation, or if I do I make up factors to counteract those ("what if I don't do it good enough?"). And worst of all, most of this is unconscious and sometimes I don't even notice it until hours later. Sometimes I try to force myself to work and I still can't. Or I work for a few minutes, and then I stop paying attention for a second and suddenly I'm knee-deep in video game. I end up not even being able to work at some things until the deadline gets too close, and I have to stress out over it. I'm sick of that. Can anyone help me help myself? I have tried googling the subject but I find nothing useful.
  12. In it's defense, it's been going down the tubes very slowly. Because it never updates.
  13. I really hate it when uninformed people talk like they know things. GI Joe had a comic line under Marvel that ran 155 issues. It had a Devil's Due run that ran 80 issues. It had numerous limited series and one shots. The average comic storyline runs 6 issues, averaging to over 40 storylines. Plus 3 cartoon series and a TV movie. There is a plethora of source material that isn't just the packaging for the toys. The situation is similar for Transformers. The toys were actually the worst part of the brand. Thanks for starting out with an insult, first of all. I don't need a lecture on how much G.I. Joe exists. What, do you think I've been living under a rock? But you know what? That Marvel comic? It's an adaptation. That cartoon series? Adapation. TV movie? Adaptation. Source material: Crappy plastic toys. I can't stand that David Willis "toys are serious business" bull****.
  14. I know some people who run a cracked WoW server, and with only a few hundred people playing, they already have a staff of about fifty just to keep track of all the problems, let alone do server events. I think people are underestimating how much maintainance WoW requires. More people means more problems. They have like ten million people. And they're developing new content, sometimes through expansions but often through free server events and content patches as well. Now, I know that WoW is a machine that prints money. But it also takes a lot of effort and costs a lot of effort. Also, it allows Blizzard to pump cash into their other games. You remember pre-WoW Blizzard? That Blizzard would never have been able have StarCraft II, Diablo III and another unannounced game in full production at the same time. So anything that gives me more Blizzard quality games in a time where casual crap rules the market, I say yay for it! This is just my opinion on Blizzard's money maker, I do recognize that as a game it is lacking a lot for more hardcore gamers (which I am not). I do enjoy the fact that many people I know play it making it a social venue for me as well as a game (one that entertains me at times when I don't feel like doing anything else, which is probably it's strength). As opposed to a lot of other people who feel they have to run through all the content, I just play it with no pressure at all. Hell, I've never gotten a character past level 40. Also, for the dumb people who are posing as true gamers, http://www.vgcats.com/comics/?strip_id=282.
  15. Anyone see that E3 trailer? Was that Malak, or just a look-alike in black? And why are all the other Sith dressed as Revan?
  16. Yeah, I don't get why so many people are so pissed over a Hollywood movie not being faithful to a bunch of crappy plastic toys. If it moves it's an improvement. That doesn't mean it won't suck like Transformers did.
  17. Sorry, but this is exactly what I said. "I feel", "I've become desensitized", "when I first saw it", I, I, I. Where exactly is your point? Of course film doesn't change. It's just a bunch of pictures played in order to give the illusion of movement, simultaneously played with recorded sounds. I watched Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus, which I have decided is the greatest B movie of all time.
  18. I disagree with your opinion on the internets! I feel the original Alien is pretty darn dated. Maybe I've become desensitized but I feel it's pace and tension are almost mellow now compared to how badly it terrified me when I first saw it.
  19. I dunno about anyone else, but most of the games I've had this problem or similar problems with worked after I installed them and run them in compatibility mode and as admin.
  20. Eels new album. Hombre Lobo! I figured since it's all streamable on Myspace AND I have it on pre-order, nobody would care if I'd download the leak. After the sprawling, emotional mass that was Blinking Lights and Other Revelations, this new album is such a lovely collection of fun love songs and a breath of fresh air for some good summer listening! I love it! Anyway, pre-order/buy it! E needs some lovin'!
  21. If anyone here is in that situation, just get the eff out of there. You'll always be unhappy because you never got to be more than a friend, or if you do get to be more than a friend eventually you'll always live the realization that you weren't really what she wanted. It might feel wrong to just get the hell out of there, it might hurt to lose a friend, or you may feel guilty as hell that you are forcing her to lose a friend, but that shortterm unhappiness is always better than the alternative of longterm unhappiness.
  22. If that takes so much time and effort that you're too busy to play an MMO, you're doing it wrong.
  23. Star Trek. Could have used some more rest stops. Once it gets going it never stops. Tired me out, and I didn't even have that with Dark Knight.
  24. Mike Doughty - Looking At The World From The Bottom Of A Well, from his 2005 album "Haughty Melodic". I used to be pissed Soul Coughing broke up, but then Doughty started doing solo stuff and it turned out Mike Doughty IS Soul Coughing.
