Plus it would leave John Parish free to work with more interesting artists. That's what I wanted to convey with my earlier post, with the friendship bit. Most bums they just, well, live their lives just like we do. It's not the standard life we're used to, but to them it's just day to day living just like us. I knew a bum who was lots of fun to hang around with, eventually died of natural causes in his sleep at a ripe old age. Just lived his life differently, 's all.

What are the scariest movies you have ever seen
Blarghagh replied to Gorgon's topic in Way Off-Topic
I second this. Actually, only partially. See, I was laughing my head off while actually watching it, but afterwards ideas and images kept creeping into my head and it kept me up the whole night. -
Oh god, I certainly hope not.

I guess we're just going to have to agree to disagree. I think that on the practical side, you have a point, but on the ethical side I can't agree with it at all. I'll have the cake please. Unless you're out, in which case I shall have the chicken.

First of all, who are you to say what's a valid contribution? I know "bums" who are more famous and a source of more friendship to people than you will ever be. One of the local bums used to be a famous guitarist before he had a breakdown and has grown to become part of our culture and identity - there are freaking postcards of the guy. Does this make your life worthless in comparison? Should a person be judged on their "contribution", like a machine? Does the fact you grew up in a way that let you develop yourself and that they were less lucky give you any more right to live than they do? If you base the value of a human life on how much you by extension of your society get better from it, well, I just find that extremely selfish. It's not up to us to judge the value of a human life - if you have a breakdown, would you want someone to help you when you're depressed and thinking about ending it, or would you want some fool who didn't think it through or has no empathy to offer you the ways and means? Also, do you really think having a few homeless people commit euthanasia will solve overpopulation? Really?

Magneto has a lot of history and personality, but honestly, I don't feel he's very iconic. I'd pick the number 2 choice, The Joker, over him in a heartbeat. Of course, everyone's burned out on The Joker since The Dark Knight and Arkham Asylum and he was a too obvious choice as well, so they passed him over. Looked through the list and they're all very standard choices, Superhero comic antagonists. We need more non-Superhero villains on the list.

Apologies for the uselessness of my post, but I can't imagine this topic is anything other than extremely offensive trolling and I'd pretty much expected that a mod such as yourself would have deleted it by now despite the OP's claims that he or she is indeed "serious". Actually, I CAN imagine it's not trolling and I find that possibility far worse because it doesn't seem like the thing a balanced individual would say and I fear for the safety of those around an individual who actually means this. Implying someones life is so worthless they should think about killing themselves off seems to me to be not only a horrible thing to joke about (let alone seriously consider) but also dangerous towards those who may or may not have a very strong psyche or depression problems. This topic makes me feel like I'm being goatse'd rather than invited to a real discussion.

I nominate this for the worst topic ever award.

I felt RED was much less action than it was comedy. Likewise that scene didn't seem awesome so much as a combination of awesome and funny at the same time. But not the unintentional type funny like Sean Connery jumping off the car in LGX and landing right on his feet, but the "haha, look at what we're pulling off" type funny. It sure made me bust a gut laughing. "I'm gonna get the pig."

I started learning how to program in flash action script 3 with no previous experience coding ever. My first project was a Motion Detector, which of course was disastrous due to being ridiculously complicated. So I figured my second project should be something simpler. I settled on making Pong. Imagine my surprise when I finish it and realize the code is just as complicated and twice as big.

You know, honestly, that bit about it possibly creating new loyalties that lead to organized (i.e. "gang") behavior kindof makes a little sense. It's the bit after where everything goes bat**** ****ing loco.

Just heard the new Batman Villains confirmation and casting. Unexpected, but nobody had confidence in Ledger before the first trailer came out either. For they who have not heard: Anne Hathaway has been cast as "Selina Kyle" a.k.a. Catwoman while Tom Hardy has been cast as Bane.

Kaftan knows his ****. Props to this post. Although I have to say ILM has been failing to impress me for a couple of years now. Avatar looked fantastic (the texture of the face paint in particular impressed me, it looked damn near to reality) but honestly, 8 special effects companies worked on that and as far as I've been able to find out, ILM just did a lot of designing and render farms. The lion's share of the 3D work wasn't really on them. I'd pay good money to see your face when you realize that Avatar is planned as a trilogy. Why? Just for the heck of it. Don't knock it, there's a great money making oppertunity buried here somewhere.

R.I.P. Kelverin, condoleances to his family. I've never seen a forum where people cared so much about fellow posters before. Cheers to you guys.

Ah, so sex crimes is their bit as well. I wasn't aware of that. Thanks! (So how come they didn't nab Polanski?) ((That was in jest.))

I just skimmed through this thread, and the amount of posts I read advocating what is pure and simple murder angers me. It's also encouraging criminal acts, which I'm pretty sure is a bannable offense. Anyway, I have just one question - how exactly did Assange get unto Interpol when there's only rape charges? Isn't that out of their jurisdiction? I thought they only did drug trafficing, human trafficing, mass murder, etc.?

People thought it was a myth?

I didn't mean to come across as offensive to people with ADD. I didn't quite think that through, I just used it as shorthand for "having the attention span of a gnat", which I have myself so I guess I kinda screwed up there.

I feel overall, most of the bad bits from the movies are also in the books. The books just have so much more good bits to make up for it. The movies deviating from the books is not a bad thing - the third flick is still the best mostly because of the liberties Alfonso Cu

I watched this too, and I'm astonished that it was totally NOT intellectual or difficult to understand. I didn't even notice any pretense of it either. I actually liked it a lot, but it was just a heist movie with a gimmick. Watching this flick made me lose a lot of faith in humanity - I keep hearing from people that they didn't understand it, or that it was hard to follow. It wasn't. It was hella straightforward and everything was chewed up and fed to the audience. "You have to really pay attention", yeah, only because a lot of things happen. Not because these things are difficult to understand. If you didn't understand it, I'm sorry, but you must have ADD or something, or you're just stupid.
