Firefly: Malcolm Reynolds - Rogue. That's what he is, a loveable rogue. Combat oriented, though. Zoe Washburn - Paladin. Completely and zealously devoted to her old wartime captain, so I thought that was the best choice. Jayne Cobb - Barbarian. Come on, he's dumb brawn that exists to hit things very hard. What else would he be? River Tam - Cipher. Since they're sort of Psionists, that seemed to fit best. She's a fantastic hand to hand fighter and a mind reader. Simon Tam - Wizard. I was going to go with priest initially, considering he's the healer in the show, but the description on the POE gamepedia entry of "men and women of high education and extreme mental discipline, if not always outright intelligence" changed my mind, as well as the fact that there aren't really healers in PoE. Kaylee Frye - Priest. Hardest choice, this is the only one that feels right. She's the heart of the team in the show, the innocent one that worships at the altar of machinery and is always trying to help and encourage and everyone wouldn't hesitate to keep her out of danger. A bit of a flimsy justification, but I couldn't think of anything else. Former comrades would be Derria Book the Monk, Hoban Washburn the Chanter (he's out of combat making jokes that add to the team's morale and makes fun of the enemy) and Inara Serra the, um, charm and charisma focused Wizard or Priest, I guess? EDIT: I love the idea of Hodor being a Godlike Barbarian. XD -
Yes, but for a hardcore fan it would make more sense to add some to the price and actually add the game. I think this way a very large portion is going to go "why would I buy the collector's edition? it has no game!" maybe if they called it a paraphernalia pack or something, but they call it The Wolfenstein Panzerhund Edition, not The Wolfenstein Panzerhund Bucket O' Licensed Stuff. It's an EDITION of the game that doesn't actually have the game.

Agreed. It was clichéd but it had a tense atmosphere and some massive jumpscares that nearly had me launching myself out of my chair.
-
Let's wait and see if this actually has consequences. I'm still excited about the Oculus, a couple of friends of mine got to try it out and they thought it was amazing.
-
Yes, that is what I meant. It would have been more accurate to say Freedom didn't work, I guess. It didn't work on the hidden mage in the Underdark either. And yeah, they didn't talk much before. But none of the side quests and conversations ever showed up for me in BG2EE - the only conversations they had were interjections in dialogue with other characters. Nalia wouldn't get kidnapped, Anomen wouldn't get his knight test, Keldorn wouldn't go to his wife, Korgan never once pestered me to loot that tomb.

It saddens me because it's such a great book and the first movie covers barely half of it. The second one had some elements of the second half of the book, but it completely bungled them - and the third was just completely pointless. I didn't know there were actually sequels to Secret of NIMH but I'm going to assume they're like all sequels to Don Bluth films - awful cash grabs.
-
So, I'm currently assuming Terminus is a land of Cannibals luring others to their them as a source of food because good things don't happen in this show.

In BG2EE, I ran into about a thousand bugs. Imprisonment bugged out and became permanent, all joinable NPCs except for the romance options no longer trigger any dialogues, the romance options trigger the same dialogues over and over, important enemies death's wouldn't register rendering quests uncompletable. When playing my old disc version, I only ever ran into the invulnerable wolfweres problem. How does that make sense?

Hangover. My brother's birthday was yesterday...

[denial]There were never any Never Ending Story sequels.[/denial]

:D Heeheehee, I can't believe a person I know to be very intelligent resorted to this argument. Did you have an off day or something? Alright, I'll take the bait here. I don't really want to join into this argument because it's ridiculous, but this needs to be said. I'm going to raise your argument with a much more authorative "I know at least TWO people who are gay, and both are different people with different appearances, personalities and opinions, golly gee it's almost as if they were real people instead of their sexual orientation being the single defining factor in who they are and how they perceive things". If you had a bigger sample group it might actually make sense. I mean, you even put this kind of disclaimer under it going "see, here's proof that I'm not bigoted! I have an important person in my life who is gay and therefore I know and care about the plight of the gay peoples!" Pushing your "credentials" was literally the only thing you said in this thread that actually makes you seem bigoted. Try harder. I'm not saying you are a bigot, mind you, I have never seen any evidence of you being a bigot and frankly I think Bruce is out of line claiming you don't care about gay people simply because you don't agree that this is something gay people need (I'm thinking of Mike Myers incredulous expression as Kanye West stood next to him proclaiming "George Bush doesn't care about black people" and laughing), but that post sounds like you were so desperately trying to prove you're not bigoted that you forgot to think about what you were saying. "One of my best friends is black, and I asked him about your idea, and he said he thought it was pointless, so now you know how black people feel about it!" Don't take it personally Monte, I dig you. And Bruce. You're good people, both of you. Then again, I'm wasted, so what do I know.

And UE4 sprang from UE1.Doesn't mean it has any use whatsoever to have devs learn the UE1 stuff nowadays if they later need to work on UE4. So CG is inherently superior to 2D animation, is it? It's an upgrade, like EU1 to EU4? It's the "better" tool to use? To be clear, I agree with you that there is nothing of value for Obsidian to get out of this project. But your argument still doesn't work. While using different tools to make it, CG and 2D animation are still subject to exactly the same rules and requirements. A 2D and a 3D animator need to know their way around a human face, they need to know how to apply anticipation and follow through. Those are the important skills for an animator - the tools used to make it are a secondary concern. The tools are not the issue here. Single Player RPGs and MMO Tank games only have a few overlaps and otherwise have completely different rules and requirements. The lessons learned from making these MMOs aren't very useful for making the games Obsidian makes (or the games *we* want Obsidian to make, anyway). In the same way a RTS developer really has no need to make a racing game. The tools don't come into it - you can make an RTS and a racing game using the same tools, art pipelines, engines, etc.

Pretty much all knowledge of motion and the principles of animation spring from old black and white cartoons, as well as a lot of examples of how not to do it are on display very strongly and you can actually learn a lot from it that you can apply to CG Animation, both good and bad. Paperman is a great example of trying to emulate that.

So excited for this game. Druids look like so much fun to play.

I've built a time machine...where do you want to go?
Blarghagh replied to BruceVC's topic in Way Off-Topic
Yeah, dinosaurs and ancient mammals. Don't really give a hoot about anything in human history, but seeing what those animals really looked like... wow. Also, could I drop some money off on a bank account somewhere? -
This is the only March 18th 2014 that we will have, ever (assuming we keep using the same system). As for people with clipboards, if they are trying to sell me something I will generally just give them the finger. On the other hand, if I don't have anything pressing to do and they are there to convince people to join charities or religions, I sometimes find it entertaining to try and convince them of the opposite that they're trying to convince me of to make them as angry as I possibly can.

Mack! I didn't know Mack did reviews. He's by far the most entertaining Let's Player out there. His playthrough of Outlast had me howling with laughter.

That makes this decision make even less sense. Unless this version has far more dialogue.
-
That's not even dialogue, that's just voice over.

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013-04-03-thief-dev-explains-why-it-ditched-original-garrett-voice-actor Yeah, I had read that. I also hear that's the same fate that befell the voice actors for Solid Snake and Sam Fisher. What a joke. I've worked with actors in both the Vicon and XSENSE Motion Capture Systems and I can tell you that what they say is actually correct. Motion capture actions combined with voices by someone else causes an unnatural disconnect... when you have super high quality CG and a lot of dialogue spoken during face close-ups as the character goes through the action - while I haven't played this game, I really doubt this is the case.

Why would you say that? I haven't seen anything that would indicate she's not real.
