Soloing PoE, Difficulty Settings and Build Ideas
I don't believe this game is solo'able. I get that many IE game fans might attempt it, since it was quite feasible in those games, but this is a different animal.
-
At what difficulty level are you playing?
hard or above. it's the only way my fire-godlike aura monk tank works

Spells should all be per encounter
It's actually nothing like the old-school games. In BG/IWD you can rest quite frequently making it practically "per encounter". Not so much in this game. It makes caster's a tad annoying early on, but it gets better later when you have more spells and spell tiers. Also ranged magic missile weapons if you blow your load.

The one glaring problem I see in this game.
The normal setting is like BG2's hardest setting lol. Actually it's probably harder considering you could easily solo that.
-
Man this game....
I'm all for hardcore rpgs but I honestly wish they used BG2 difficulty curve.

Are Spiritshifted druids good fighters?
Shifting sucks, just like in all other cRPGs of old. They sadly kept that tradition with PoE lol. You're gonna have to wait for mods. Till then, pew pew lazers on Druid

Are there Katana's in Eternity
Also guns, which should logically better than any sword.

Only 1 character?
I prefer premade characters with their own personalities, quips, quests, and stories. Some of the best rpgs/crpgs of all time have premade, so I'm not sure why it would "suck". But I read this game you can make your own too later on, so don't worry.

What will be your first player character?
Wild Orlan Druid who uses the Pig-Form a lot. His name will be Porkins.

Can you respec?
Yeah no one should really be too concerned about this, people make editor's very fast for these kind of games.
-
Can you respec?
Well since there is no dual classing I don't see the issue with respec. Like if a Wizard respecs he's still gonna do wizardy stuff with spells. A monk will still use his monk abilities and wounds. It would only break immersion/RP if he suddenly changed class. A simple attribute, minor skill, and feat change doesn't break immersion/RP imo. People always change minor specializations within an area of a major expertise. Not sure why when it's in a video game it's sacrilegious all of a sudden Hell even Slippin Jimmy' now only does Elder Law rather than Criminal Law, but he's still a Lawyer! And the world still goes round'

What neurotic habits will you be bringing to PoE?
Dongom replied to Death Machine Miyagi's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Extreme restarting as i learn more and more about character skills/system etc. I don't expect to make it past 25% of the game the first week.

Battlemage?
How hard is it to mod this game? I can't wait for mods that add classes or even dual class! (After playing vanilla for 100's of hours no doubt)
-
Can you respec?
Can classes can be built specialized/differently enough for respec to matter? I wanna make a druid that focuses on shifting.

Monk Soloing?
They balanced the game around having a 6-man party. Well so did those classics, yet it was doable. It should be very hard, but not impossible. People want these new crpg's to be like the classics after all, right?

Monk Soloing?
I like being able to solo BG1, BG2, IWD, KOTOR, etc. Yes they were designed around parties, but with the right min-maxing solo was actually quite achievable and fun. Difficult, but in an enjoyable way. Did they really tune this game for such an option to be near impossible on most classes and super frustrating?
