  1. Agreed, monk is amazing. But then again, all the classes shine in one way or another wigh the right 'cheese/bugged' interaction or combo. Even paladins can work ( as tanks) on potd and be immortal. Chanter is bad on anything but potd but really shines there. Only ranger is truly lackluster across the board. Btw cipher doesn't start to deal dmg (atleast now with the mindblades nerf) until lvl 9 with burrowed instincts) and amplified wave (lvl 11) does 70 dmg to the entire screen with high int. Until then he's mostly a cc bot imo.
  2. My autoresponse to druids have been high stealth plus confusion on a wizard, and simply walk away afterwards watching them plague each other.
  3. Spellholding is not random - haprns when you get crit. Great to put on someone with low deflection.
  4. Has anyone attempted a critchance build with Spellstriking? Jolting touch every 2-3 hits could potentially be pretty cheese.
  5. Funny, I did the exact same thing. For a surprisingly overlooked race, paleelves are pretty good paladins.
  6. Unfortunately they are bugged, so when it triggers your characters voice will loop "THIS ISN`T WORKING" repeatedly, until the effect wears off. Which is pretty derp, since it obviously IS working. Great shoes though.
  7. So far I´ve been having great success with using pale elf Darcozzi, who is basically immune to fire and frost. Add a cipher with painblock and a druid with woodskins and very few things hurt your paladin.
  8. My POTD party is: Cipher(main) - Coastal Aumaua (because I hate knockdown). No explanation needed, ciphers can adapt to any situation, target many resistances Chanter tank Paladin tank - Pale Elf Darcozzi - basically immune to fire and cold dmg, and retaliates every attack. Allows my Wiz, druid and priest to target the surrounded paladin without damaging her. Really good against shades. Priest - cc, heal, dmg Druid - cc, heal, dmg Wiz - cc, dmg I usually just send my paladin into the fray, cast flames of devotion and painblock on her. That pretty much makes her unkillable. Have the rest of the party equipped with ranged weapons, and have chanter chant the phrase for faster reload. Use cipher to snipe stray targets going past the paladin with mental binding and rotate party. Managed to get to lvl 8 in the endless dungeon at lvl 6 with this strategy on POTD, which I am pretty happy about.
  9. I don´t think that´s the only reason though. Regardless of how you look at it, getting +10 to fortitude is just really weak, regardless of your class. It should be like 20-30 before I would even consider it.
  10. How do you feel about the general balance of talents? While I understand that complete equilibrium is impossible, I sort of feel like some sort of balancing is in order. Right now the offensive tree is leaps and bounds better than almost anything else. There are exceptions ofcourse. Weapon and shield style is great, and so is cautious attack. But the nodes with 10 to x defence are very weak. From the utility tree the elemental nodes are good as well. The heals, especially field triage are utterly worthless. I don´t know, it just feels like, whenever I level up I automatically either pick a class-specific or offensive talent. For a tank I will be sure to pick up weapon and shield style, and for a caster I will probably get the appropriate elemental node but that´s it. The offensive tree has so much to offer(even as a tank), while the other ones just feel a bit "meh". Whats your experience?
  11. Aaaaand back to the topic at hand.
  12. Swift strikes, Torments Reach, Rooting Pain and Turning Wheel are must-haves imo.
  13. Haven´t read all the posts, but before we even decide on balance issues, one question must be asked: Which difficulty? For example, rogue is insane on easy and normal while chanter is utterly useless. Having said that, atleast there seems to be some consensus that ciphers are top tier.
  14. You pretty much answered your own query, so I guess it´s just a matter of interpretations. Do not read a spoiler forum then, good sir.
  15. I have to admit that Durance was easily my favorite companion. Deep, charismatic, haunting, abusive and most importantly memorable. It seems to me that he was given way more lore and love than the other companions. I felt a bit sad when I read that he burned to death. So, I guess this is just a shout-out to the writer. Given the scope of the game I was pretty impressed.
  16. Like others have mentioned, wizard start off as weak, and do not truly shine until lategame. Confusion alone makes the wizard worth taking. I honestly like paladins. They make excellent support tanks. I would take paladin just for the aura (whichever one you choose), and the liberating and reviving exhortation. Lay on hands and flames of devotion are good too, especially if you go with the faction that allows you to heal your team for 20 endurance. TBH i prefer the paladin over the fighter. Ofcourse, druids, priests, monks, barbs and ciphers are a tier of their own. The only classes that I currently think needs some love is rangers and chanters (non-POTD).
  17. Not counting the ones you can buy from merchants: Whispers of Yenwood - Od nua - you mentioned this one Larder door - shield - Bash - reward a quest in gilded vale (sorry forgot which one) Gauns Share - Flail - Catacombs in Defiance Bay - Draining, 30% graze-to-hits, fine Aatuuk - Dagger - Reward for killing the animancer who took the lords daughter in dyrwood - Exceptional, 10% crit, 5 accuracy Tidefall - Greatsword - Secret, found in the pile of gold of the dragon Cilent in the Fiery Pools (needs 8-9 mechanics to find) - Superb, DOT, Draining Leadspitter - Quest reward for killing Ogre in Dyrwood from Rumbald
  18. Having done a playthrough of both on hard, I can say that both are very viable.
  19. Just realised that i misread cipher as chanter. My bad. Both barbs are ciphers are amazing, and I suggest that you get both in your party as either one is a top tier pick in their current form(even after the mindblades nerf).
  20. Add a Cipher to the party with Pain Block and monks become borderline unkillable with physical attacks. I had 5 ogres pounding on my moon godlike for 15 seconds, lost only half hp.
  21. Well, chanter controls the battle, but for most encounters ypu will never get to use his invocations. He is a rare breed in that the worse ypu have build your party, the more he shines. Barb is incredible. Glasscannon him and use defiant resolve to survive and most encounters are utterly arbitrary.
  22. Hey there. Do you people have a lot of success with the rogue on hard? I've made my rogue into a glasscannon, yet the damage is somewhat disappointing even with durance throwing out interdiction every fight. As a matter of a fact, my tank monk does almost the same damage with turning wheel and rooting pain, while at the same time being 4 times as tanky. I've maxed out might and dex, dw, savage attack, dual wield mastery, vicious attack, that 1.2dmg 8 acc modal, and blinding strike. What gives?
  23. I went ahead and updated the patch. Sadly, no cigar. I reloaded an earlier save, just before the temple of woedica. Two levels and 6 hours lost, but atleast I can continue now. Thanks.
