  1. I was going to post asking about why the door is always locked after defending kriea, but you already answered it. I've played through the game a few times now (5-6, nearly always defending kria) and each time i've dont the tomb i had to defeat kria 3 times to win. At first i thought it was in the game, not a bug. I was expecing a "Didnt you just say that?" or "Woah, deja vue" dialouge options to appear lol. Anways, i think 3 is the magic number for beating kriea...
  2. Holy sith, its true I've just spent about an hour fiddling with influence with GoTo and talking with him, pretty interesting stuff. Considering i've been through the game many times and have missed something as big as this is very pleasing. Maybe if vogga -in a moment of anger- had the GoTo droid destroyed, for example, if he met with it for negotiation over something and it displeased him, then it would maybe have been destroyed. However that didnt happen, and thus, GoTo still remains at large. HK47: what is it, fat one? oh hk, you amuse me so... why did they remove your factory
  3. *gasp* but... well. what else can i say, i never suspected that in the slightest. Maybe nobody in the game knows that? Just like i didnt know. gotta say, you caught me totally off guard with that, i'm gonna look into it... thanks for strightening me out.
  4. What would blowing up the droid achive? Unless your thinking that GOTO is infact the droid? I always found it funny that i could speak to vogga, with GOTO in my party, and voggo would say "i se you arnt dragging GOTO's body behind you" (or something like that) and he would say it whilst GOTO was hovering up and down next to him, heh.
  5. As far as using other species as a selectable PC, i would reccomend downloading a new PC skin, click the link andgo to the "PC" section on the left had side menu. http://www.pcgamemods.com/10 I myself i'm nearly finished playing as a female twilek, it makes a nice change If you go to the "armour" section on the same link, you should find some downloads for bao daur, unfortunatly its not robes exactly, its more like armour, but thats the closest that i know of, and it beats having force powers restricted or using his default clothes. I also could have swore that site had robes with hoods, but i cant find them at the moment... And changing videos should just be a case of replacing the videos in your kotor2 folder with your own videos. I think.
  6. I would like to agree to the above post! very much! I tested it out, and i only got 5fps difference, so i left shadows on, THEN i found out just how incredibly varied the difference is with soft shadows. On nar shadarr, it cut my performance in half, IN HALF! I mean, thats a smegging big difference! It helped me very much when searching for the all elisive frame-gain. I also found alot of the time i preferred the look with soft shadows off... but thats down to personal preferance. either way, its just not worth it.
  7. OK, this might sound a little wierd, but try and follow my thinking... Bink video files play on your system outside of kotor2, correct? "I have downloaded a sample bink video and it played fine but this is after I have downloaded the RAD tools codec." WHat about replacing the intro movie bink files with your own bink files that play? or since the "legal" video (i'm assuming a video stating cpyrights and trademarks) p[lays correctly, why not replace the intro movie with copies of the "legal" video? SO basicly, your replacing the videos that dont work, with copys of another video that DOES work, it would just be a simple matter of changing filenames i think? thanks all i can think of right now...
  8. starforce cant be totally unbeatablecan it? wasnt there a game like commandos that used it? i i know you can play that not-so-legally. There will always be cracks and fixes for things imo. I dont see why there cant be some kind of cracked starforce that stops the check? i dunno, its not my thing, but in my opinion there will always be a work around at some point. just my 2 pennys "
  9. I thinks i broke it, lol. This happened after doing the B4-D4 ithorian mission on telos. After it returned me to my PC i checked the party selection screen and found it. bizarre but true...
  10. You most likley have the same problem as me, where certain (ver few) areas make you game very crashable. I dont have it in the same are as you, but i do get it in a few other areas. It normally only lasts whilst a certain mission or cut-scene is running. I wouldnt put it down to motherboards, not that i would rule it out entirley, it just seems a very wierd thing to be causing the problem. (i'm on an NF7-s). My advice is to do a normal save in a new slot every 20 minutes or so, and a quick save every few minutes. I've noticed in the crashable areas that quick saves *sometimes* corrupt. I;ve only had it happen a couple of times, ao i wouldnt worry about it too much. hopefully you shouldnt have any other problems with the game, as it stands, the crashing is a fairly minor one
  11. right click the folder "streamvoice" (the that came with the mod) and choose "copy". Then go to: C:\program files\lucasarts\kotorII\ and paste it in there. you should get a box pop up and ask "there is already a folder in here called streamvoice, is it ok to overwrite it?" and you click "yes". i'm guessing drive D:\ is your CD drive? if so, dont try and paste the files into there, you have the right idea, but the place you need to paste them is in C:\program files\lucasarts\kotorII\ hope this is of use, feel free to ask on anymore detail.
  12. subtle dude, subtle i too use N-CD/dvd because of the following reasons 1: disks dont last in my bedroom, no matter what they are worth. 2: my DVD drive is god damn loud and annoying 3: i hate the constant speed up/slow down noises CD reading makes 4: depending on the game, speeds up gameplay (depends what/when/how often the disk is read) 5: i lose disks 6: i'm too damn lazy to have to look for CD's 7: EVERYONE here knows that black hole your mother puts things, you know, the one called "a safe place". things get put there and never return. ever. 8: i prefer to keep legit games in their case, in their box, in somewhere they cant be damaged. i still have the origional "worms" game in perfect condition :D i think thats enough for now... feel free to kick me in the skull for being off topic
  13. why not try downloading the bink codec to see if that fixes it? might be that the version that comes with kotor2 eludes something thats included in the normal download? anyways, i would give the codec a try, might fix things. http://www.free-codecs.com/download/RAD_Video_Tools.htm
  14. If you go to where the game is installed (program files\lucas arts\kotor2\) right click the file called "swkotor2.exe" and click the "compatibility" tab at the top. Tick the enable compatibility checkbox and choose windows 98 (best to try all, but win98 is normally the best). Then double click swkotor2.exe file and see if its improved. You still havnt mentioned your graphics settings so i'm not ruling out lag from running the game beyond your capabilities. And yes, SE's might as well stand for Slow Edition
  15. DOnt know fo any myself, but i WISH i could set screenshot as pageup with the GUI disabled, i cant figure out how to do it... stupid unbindable keys nah, not really a spoiler, lol.
  16. Is it by any chance a "9550 SE" ? They have been known to be poor in gaming. I think 2.0ghz should really be enough to run the game, i would be surpised if it was your CPU. Can you check the advanced graphics section of your options, and make sure your not in some bizarrely high resoloution or have Anti Aliasing turned on high? I cant really think of much else except the game being ran in too high settings for your card. Maybe try running the game in compatilbility mode? I doubt it will help, but i cant think of anything else.
  17. Well up thanks for your help in solving the problem, after i had solved the problem @ EnderWiggin: It definatly wasnt overclocking, because as it turned out, i had forgotten to write the overclocked settings to the cards bios, so when i had reset it went back to stock :"> @ Marka Ragnos: That would also make sense, however the source of my problem was the Catalyst AI, this isnt to say that mipmapping isnt the source of other peoples problems. Thanks for the help anyway guys, hopefully it'll solve someones problems.
  18. Well HUH! Damn typical of me, fixed the problem right after i put up screenshots :"> INcase anyone else has this problem (unlikley) go to your "catalyst control center" or whatever tool you use for fiddling with your graphics card settings and chose "Disable catalyst AI" and your texture problems are now instantly fixed. typical, pssh....
  19. I also experienced this, but only on my ATI card, i assumed it was an ATI only problem. I'm kinda glad to know it isnt, and that it is infact an issue with the game (or both graphics card drivers, depending on the way you look at it...). Though i wonder if this is the same problem to do with vertex buffering? did you try the "Disable Vertex Buffer Objects=1" fix? Explained in this thread It most be a way that cards are now using vertex buffers, if it worked in an old version of your drivers but not a new one. This is good news though, means theres more than one way to fix the problem (if it is infact the same problem) if your an Nvidia user. Very interesting info, thanks for sharing it, i'm sure it'll help people
  20. No problem, glad i could help Hopefully it fixed Titosros's problem too, i might drop him a pm and point him to this thread... It seems to be missed out of alot of faq's and problem solving for some reason, which is a shame, as it turns the game from unplayable to problem free for alot of people. Anyways, glad it worked, now you can actually visit dantooine without the god awefull lag...
  21. Is it all the time, or only in certain areas? CHeck your advanced graphics settings in the game to make sure you dont have AA (Anti Aliasing) turned right up, as that might lag your system down a fair bit. I wouldnt say its your cpu thats the problem, though i'm not 100% sure. Sorry if this seems trivial, its just the first things tha come to mind. Could it maybe be some other program running in the background lagging you? (like winamp, its visualisations lagged me at times).
  22. I had the same problem, and although you already tired the soloution, i *think* you made a slight mistake (we all do it!). 1: open swkotor.ini 2: go to "graphics options" it should be the 3rd group of text gown the page. 3: ADD this line of text underneath the last line of text in the graphics options. Disable Vertex Buffer Objects=1 Your file should now look something like this at the graphics options setting... [Graphics Options] Anisotropy=16 Frame Buffer=1 Grass=1 Soft Shadows=1 Shadows=1 Brightness=57 EnableHardwareMouse=1 FullScreen=0 AllowSoftShadows=1 RefreshRate=85 Width=1024 Height=768 V-Sync=1 Texture Quality=2 Anti Aliasing=2 Disable Vertex Buffer Objects=1 You see your not changing an existing line of text, you need to ADD a new one. Thats the only place you went wrong from what i can see. Hope this was of some help, if you need me to explain it a bit more, then just ask.
  23. Well i'm assuming he deleted it from inside the game, which is a good thing as there SHOULD be a saved game not far from when his last one was if autosave was turned on (which i think it is as default) Try running the game, going to "load game" and looking for the name "Auto Save". If you load that, you should start off fairly close to where he left off. I'm afraid thats the only help i have, My nephew who lives with us is autistic (just turned 7) so i know what you mean about him being distraught Hope this is of some help. You could also try looking in the recycle bin on the desktop to see if the saved game is in there. (sorry if i sound condecending, i'm not sure how experienced at computer you are, so i dont want to be too vauge.)
  24. Right well, i've been meaning to post this for a while now, but never got around to it, so here it is. When playing KOTOR2, i often see textures which are distorted colour-wise. For example, if i'm looking at a wall with 6 metal panels on it, one of them might have a green or purple hue, or even a rainbow effect in some cases! I consider myself very lucky to even have the game as playable as it is, and fingers crossed i've had no storyline or game bugs as of yet. The texture thing just gets on my nerves, it kinda ruins the scene when your surrounded by rainbow textures splattered on everything. The worst part is i KNOW this is fixable, as i had the same problem on kotor1, most noticibly on manaan. I cant recall if i fixed it or if it was a patch, for some reason "turn off triple buffering" rings a bell, but i tried that and no cigar. It seems to be fairly uncommon as a search and a poke around on several forums has found nothing, not even other people with this problem! I'll include my system specs, though the graphics card is most likley the only important information. 2.3 AMD slightly overclocked saphire 9600xt 1gig ram SATA hard drive NF7-s Nforce 2 motherboard. Oh, and its most definatly NOT overclocking the card causing the problem, as i used to have it on my good old geforce4 MX440 and even on this card long before i overclocked it. The problem has also stayed throughout the latest ATI drivers since KOTOR2 came out. I am sure its a KOTOR2 problem, quite possibly something in the .ini file that needs to be added, i'm unsure. I'll try and get a screenshot up a little later, but for now i'm going to go play it for a bit, i gave up holding out for the patch till i replayed again <_< Thanks for your time guys (and guy-ettes). EDIT: I now have pictures of it, now you guys can see why its so offputting! Follow the linkage, click here!
