Its been a while since i read up on duel channel, but if i recall correctly having the same speed is reccomended but i'm not sure about the size. If in doubt you could always pick up a 512 single stick, RAM can be pretty cheap nowadays. It can be a bit of a leap (hardware compatibility wise and money wise) making the jump from AGP to PCI express. It all depends on your budget and how long you want the upgrade to last. I didnt want to upgrade to PCI-e so i got the best AGP card i could, which is currently a 6800gt (you can get the 6800 ultra, but they seem to cost nearly twice as much for little gain). If your ugrading to PCI-e i would say you''ll need a new motherboard, RAM, graphics card, and probly CPU. If your wanting to stick to AGP you could simply upgrade the Graphics Card. Personally, me being tight with money, would probly upgrade the graphics card and get a stick of 512mb RAM, maybe two sticks if budget allowed. What speed is your CPU anyway? It would be good to know.

Need Help Defeating Hannar with Mira
Cactus replied to dogteam's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Also, remember that mira doesnt trigger mines to explode. I would try paralysing him ormaking him immobile somehow, then planting as many mines in the same spot as you can and stand away from them so that he runs at you through the mines. Somehow i managed to glitch this part, and he stood there not attacking me. He would only attac if i attacked him with melee, if i stopped he stopped. Wierd. -
I believe so, however your motherboard seems to only support upto x4 AGP speed, where pretty much any card nowadays is x8. That said, i think it should run, but i'm not sure how much it will reduce performance. Reading up online seemed to discover that the difference between x4 and x8 is unnoticable. This is how one explanation read... Also, i would reccomend keeping your eye out for 512mb of ram, it should be cheap enough to find and should definatly help EDIT: or another stick of 256mb so that it adds up to 512mb, seeing as it seems your only using 1 RAM slot you should have 1 or 2 free slots to put some more into.

Seriously? If anything, K1 was more difficult (relatively speaking of course. both were quite easy). <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I thought kotor1 was much simpler! You had simple weapons for the mostpart, upgrades were limited to "upgrade 1, upgrade 2, upgrade 3" and such. Now i'm not saying this is better, i'm just saying it seemed simpler. and kotor2 seems to have more character specific boosts, evertything and anything you can equip seems to give off some sort of bonus which makes figuring things out difficult at times.
-
Damn, i never knew that! i always assumed the higher numbers were better lol. My knowlege of a d20 system is kinda lacking, i always misinterpret things. And for kotor1, i never bothered learning d20 or what not, i just clicked the little attack button and things died. KOTOR1 was a much simpler beast

Well, i'm glad to know the cause I have it admit, it was quite refreshing managing to annoy her so much, i didn t expect such a big difference between LS and DS but i'm quite enjoying it so far. I'm tempted to reload so i can turn handmaiden a jedi, but i dont really have any use for her to be honest. she can sulk all she wants

JEBUS... HQ Media patch thingy on front page!!
Cactus replied to Jitawa's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Damn, thats a very unefficient way of playing videos in-game :/ I could understand having a high res set and a low res set, but having a differant set of videos for each resoloutions? thats a bit much. Also, there should be no need for the flickering of the moniter (as if the resoloution is changing) if it doesnt need to change the resoloution changing to play the movie. I'm quite suprised at this. -
My handmaiden got angry with me, and refuses to speak with me now She had an argument with visas that i had never seen when LS, and then next time i spoke to her she just had a quick argument and said "i have nothing more to say to you" and ignores me now. Still, she was always pretty useless for me, i prefered a jedified mira or visas better.

Cactus replied to Jitawa's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
The resolution of the movies as shipped was the Xbox resolution (which is only television 500-odd rows), so the resolution has indeed been improved, though not to 1600 x 1200. So it wasn't a cow point (you're not Joey, are you?). Or even a moot point, though I'm not quite sure what you're saying. What i meant was it should matter what resoloution you play the game at, because before the movie plays the game chan ges the screen resoloution to match the movie! So if you play the game at 640 res or 1600 res, it shouldnt matter, because the game should change the screen resoloution to match the mvie anyway! So say the movies resoloution was 1024 then the game should change the screen resoloution to 1024 before playing it! So if the game chan ges you resoloution when it wants to play a movie, it makes your screen resoloution a moo point, its moo. -
Thats what i was getting at, it wasnt how hard or easy the ending way, it was how boring it was. Just another simple fight wasnt good enough imo.

KOTOR3 would make money, which is the primary objective of any major company nowadays, also the series NEEDS a 3rd game to conclude the storyline. I'd like to know which companies you have heard from that said "well screw that" about kotor3 And the sexual orientation of lucas arts has nothing whatsoever to do with it rushing games.

I was always bother that it was just "another battle" after getting so far, to end the game by a simple battle, it was a bit of an anticlimax. I'd like to have a better end battle. Imagine if the traus core had started to collapse around you and kriea battling, you and her force-jump to opposite cliff faces and have a bit of rively banter, maybe a short cut scene of her force-throwing rocks and boulders at you or maybe bolts of lightening too. Then a large rock falls and bridges the gap between your two cliff faces, you run to meet each other in the middle of the rock and continue battling. After a good lightsaber duel kriea force-pushes you backwards towards away from the rock and back to the cliff face, then the rock bridging the gap starts to crack, she runs to join you on your cliff face and another battle commences, the force pushes you again and you nearly fall off the cliff face, a cut scene of you hanging by one hand, as kriea shouts and curses at you to get up, that she is not finished with you yet (basicly taunting you into climbing back up and fighting her). She force jumps to a larger flat area again and you climb up and jump over to it too, another lightsaber battle and this time you lop off her other hand. Then it should be a cut-scene of her on her knees, apparantly defeated. LS: you refuse to strike her down, she gets angry and stand back up DS: you say something along the lines of killing her, and she says something about showing true power. Kriea stand up, and summons the 3 floating lightsabers for you to battle against etc etc... you know the rest. Now wouldnt that have been an awesome ending? it wouldnt have even been *that* hard to script. But i'm rambing and being a tad off topic... so excuse me.

I try to think of it like how you have a force meter and HP meter in game. While nihlus and kriea may be able to drain your HP, they cannot drain your force points, because you a void in the force yadda yadda yadda... Thats how i rationalize it anyway. They can wound your mortal body, but they cannot drain your force.
-
"soon" " Seriously though, i cant see why there wouldnt be a KOTOR3, its an easy money maker for a start, plus its a damn good series despite its problems. I just played KOTOR1 again last night, everything so simple! and blasters actually DO kill people! I think calling KOTOR2 a failure is a bit harsh, but its definatly an unfinished product, or at least the last 3rd of the game is. K3 i imagine will explain what happened to the exile and reven, maybe sending you off to help aid them in fighting the "true sith". I too hope it will wrap everything up to either finish off the series of KOTOR or pave the way for a new set of KOTOR games from a slightly different time.

*puts on his grasp-at-straws-to-make-the-game-make-sense hat* It seems kreia can indeed make herself disguised somehow, so that she can be sense but not seen. Though i would imagine if she wishes it she could also make herself unsensable. Was she the one who made the force bond? or was it the exile? or both? Contradicting herself i've never noticed, i could only excuse by saying that she lied alot to aid her manipulation of the exile (which she confesses to). She can drain wounds in the force? Did she actually attempt to drain the force from the exile like nihlus was, or did she simply drain his HP? If she drained his HP you could argue that she wasnt draining the void in the force, just its life. Though if she did indeed drain the force from him, then i'm stumped, i cant rationally explin it, i guess she gained some ludicrusly great darkside powers at the end? Kreia not being noticed at first by the jedi masters you could put down as that she didnt want to be seen, and thus hid herself. Its a shame really because they could have easily made the jedi masters react to her presence. And finally, atris even says herself "what old women?" when one of the handmaidens tells her about the old women in the cage. Atris simply was in the wrong place at the wrong time and thus missed seeing Kreia. And i'm done, lol. I wasnt attacking you personally Kavar, you just had more points i needed to try and justify than anyone else heh.

Nope, it wont affect them in the slightest. The only way their alignment will change is if you gain or loose influence with them, and when you do you will recive a pop-up promt saying "influence lost/gained: playername" I belive the way it works is that each party member has their own Lightside/darkside alignment, and the more influence you get with a member the more they will go towards matching your own alignment.

I'm running 1600 x 1200 and i notices a huge differance! Though i thought the game resoloution would be a moo point, because the game changes resoloution when it plays the movies anyway? I guess i'm wrong. -
Aaah, i see now. Normally i side with kreia but playing Light Side, and after the 3rd time of the same conversation she dissapears.
-
i'm probly missing something glaringly obvious, but elaborating more on the handmaiden taking kreia off to telos, HOW did she get there? i dont ever recall seeing any other form of transport on dantooine that could allow the handmaiden to travel there! It seems a bit shoddy, that part, from what i've come to understand is that transport with a hyperdrive is pretty scarce, and yet the handmaiden plucks one from the air?
-
Wait.. so the bug is in the cave, when the vision of kriea asks if you side with her or your allies? Thats the only kreia dialouge i can think of... dammit i need to play korriban again now to try and find this bug, i've never heard of the "epathy is dead" route...
-
I fought the game and, the game won. Well done for completing it, i cant make it through without e#cheating a little normally, but my last playthrough was ok. I even managed to turn Kreia to my side on the last battle! Useing force confuse (or something) that makes baddies join your team, then i planted 10 deadly frag mines (from GOTOs yaught) infront of her, did that a few times and she was gone! I did have trouble getting through her training grounds place though, one point where there was 4 blaster guys and about 8 melee guys, was frikking hard. Where about is this? I've never had that problem and always play through on lightside... but i do have some bug-fixes installed, so maybe thats it.

Really? I downloaded it yesterday peaking at 700 kb/s. :D <{POST_SNAPBACK}> i downloaded it yesterday peaking at 70  Still, i wont conplain, 70 is more than enough for me. I'm happy just to get it at all. -
My FPS sliced in half after upgrading.
Cactus replied to Cactus's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
DAMN I'M SO STUPID! Jeez, i've been forgetting to turn my 2nd moniter off when playing the game. i went from 13fps to 60. EDIT: Yup, definatly was that, i now get around 30-40 in laggy areas and 50-60 in less intensive areas at 1600x1200 res with 4AA. Quite a remarkable change! I wouldnt care, but i myself have told people to disable their 2nd moniter when playing, then i went and forgot -
My FPS sliced in half after upgrading.
Cactus replied to Cactus's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
After the upgrade i installed the same patches (and bugfixes frim team gizka) that i had with the 9600xt. I will back up my stuff and try a fresh un-patched version of the game now and see what i get. EDIT: Nope, exactly the same. Fresh install, no patchs. Does anyone else here use a 6800gt and get better performance? I just cant understand how its crippled my performance so much. EDIT2: How strange... when i turn off frame buffer effects, i get double the frames per second and moreso! even when frame buffer effects are being USED! This is most unusual... and highly confuzzeling -
Jeeez, theres a lot of silver-loving jedi out there! Also lots of people are saying green, but not voting for it. hmm.. I say purple (violet) because well, i like it. It can be a classy lightsider colour and work well for a dark jedi too. Latley i've been thinking about yellow, purley because its so underused!
