Well... it wasn't the processor (just tried it). Right now I think I'm just gonna yank the HD and take it to a shop.

Best Star Wars Game (other than KotOR)
Calax replied to Nihilus5078's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I think that part of it was that the first game didn't have space, all the levels were flying over ground. -
The VOIP that they put in is TERRIBLE. Generally people use Ventrilo or Teamspeak, because those have several features that the games built in doesn't. Squid, the way that the game works is that before you create a character they ask you if you want to be on a Normal, PVP, Roleplaying, or PVPRoleplaying server. Then it'll also ask you what timezone you're in and assign you a fairly empty server to be a part of. However it'd probably be best for you to find out what server your friends are on and what faction they are. As to the cost issue, you can figure that out pretty easily on their site (they allow you to pay by the month, 2 months, 6 months or a year at a time). Generally the cost per month decreases as the amount of time you're buying grows.

I think so too. But some people swear by Sandman so *shrugs* I guess that bit of my distaste for sandman comes from the fact that there was no constant thread that led from point A-Z, instead it was a thread that jumped the middle portion in favor of random (but good) stories.

Watched Dark Knight again. Good movie, if a bit more brutal than I would have liked. I do think that they could have done with keeping Two-Face alive. Weird part was that after I'd watched it I realized that i actually had the comics it was taken from (to a degree). Long Halloween promptly got read that night.

Kotor3: Ideas, Suggestions, Discussion Part 26
Calax replied to SteveThaiBinh's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
... 1: check your spelling 2: don't post drunk 3: no game deserves or doesnt' deserve to be made based on fan appeal. That being said I'm guessing that there are more people out there who are happy with the fact that it's an MMO rather than an RPG than you think. Likewise I'm guessing that 90% of the gaming population doesn't really care that much. And they wouldn't be competing against galaxies "pnly". to do so would be stupid, narrow sighted, and a total lack of any education of the business men. When you develop a product you're competing with EVERYTHING that can do the same thing as that product. This is (literally) business 101. Thus every game is competing with every other game for the gamers money. And if you wanna take it a step further, they're also competing with every other form of entertainment for that dollar. Anyway, Kotor 3 is mostly dead to me, if it shows up, I want the frigging Basalisks to look like they originally did. Also put Exar Kun and Ulic in there in a meaningful way rather than just having them talked about idly. Introduce people to the Sith War, and it's players. Maybe tie the game in with a rerelease of the old comics. -
Best Star Wars Game (other than KotOR)

They be newbies. Tie Fighter is the best Star Wars game. the kitty masturbator speaks truth! -
Yeah, but how well did that work out for Infinity Ward? They sold a crap load of copies, but I still remember at least one of them complaining that there was some huge number (1 million+?) of pirated copies playing online. *shrugs* I don't know how things worked for IW, but EA decided that every victory and kill you make in ANY facet of the game should be counted towards your "ranking". Thus they're gonna keep track of all your stats on a primary server. You can access the account from anywhere and play your guy from anywhere. IIRC IW kept all your stats and profiles on your hard drive which meant if you wiped your system, you'd loose your multiplayer rank, hich EA is actually gonna prevent.

oh hush bedwetter The processor that overheated and broke on me is being replaced and is FINALLY on it's way back to me.
-
Well they're building it into the gameplay experiance. They're constantly tracking your kills and stats as you go through ANY fight or level and is applied similarly to how COD4 does things for it's multiplayer.
-
It's still kinda awesome.

Arkam Asylum! Looks Friggin SWEET!

Just so you know, abilities are NOT race based, they are class based. So from the sounds of it you want a mage. Word of warning, they are one of the hardest classes to play because of the sheer number of abilities is staggering.

The thing right now with tanking is that paladins are SO easy to gain threat. Most of their threat is dealt with holy damage which ignores the armor and makes them so they don't have to deal with most of the melee stats. The biggest thing that annoys warriors is that the devs are to scared of overbuffing us because so many tanks have warrior tank alts from the days of yore. but that's life.

Yay! My warranty processor is in the Mail!

your lack of understanding is amusing. two things A) Galactic Collisions are actually a fairly normal thing, Heck right now there are two small galaxies colliding with the milky way and in the process of being absorbed (the Magellanic clouds). There is destruction of the planet, no stars slamming into each other with reckless abandon, there's enough open and empty space within the galaxy that most of the stars and mass will simply fit inside our current galactic plane without much destruction or bumping of uglies. B) The thing about the Mayans is that their calanders were VERY accurate in terms of dates and everything up until the present. 2012 is where the calander ends, nobody knows why, thus the theories that the world ends there. oh! forgot something! When our star goes boom it won't suck anything up, rather we'll be enveloped by it when it hits its red giant phase and starts to fuse heavier elements instead of hydrogen. Once the fusion stops it'll forcibly eject the outer layer of the star into space. This is probably about 15 billion years out I think (have to check). so my guess is that we humans will be dead and gone LONG before we have to worry about a nova.

They're playing one heck of a tightrope act trying to keep things balanced on PVP and PVE. I can understand the want for balance and they should correct the known "faceroll and win" classes (those that only spam a single attack and say I WIN!) but I think they're going for to close of a balance. Of course being a tank I'm on a weird side of the balancing. They're trying to balance all the tanks so that we take approxomatly the same amount of incoming damage as each other. Problem comes with the fact that Paladins and Warriors have shields DK's and Druids don't, thus they have to adjust the numbers so that the amount blocked with a shield is mitigated by other means on druids and DKs. Of course right now it's looking like Warriors are the worst tanks because of the lack of steady incoming damage (meaning we don't dodge, block or parry every attack and don't have a health pool large enough to compensate) means that our healers rip their hair out trying to heal us. Also it's annoying to have my highest threat move have it's damage capped for PVP (shield slam... that sucker after the block buff could do, when the stars aligned, 20k damage on a crit. now it's capped so no matter my gear I won't see above about 12k damage from it.)

The names he mentioned are server names. *shrugs* You should probably look at WoWwiki for some info on the lore. And yes you have to have BC in order to play Wrath, it's just how it goes. And I've never heard of a "pillar of fire" spell... Combustion Bast wave? sure (mage) but nothing that popped out a pillar... well maybe something from a shaman but *shruggles*

Check out Metadigital's profile here. 15,000 posts since he registered. That's still under 9 posts per day and he hasn't been seen in almost a year. If you tried, you could get that in less than 5 minutes every day for however many years. It's a huge number of posts, but when you consider how much time some people have actually spent on these forums, it's not as mind bogglingly huge a number as it might seem. Also if you consolodate Hades' alts into the Hades account you'll probably end up with a mindboggling number of posts. On here, several people have most of their posts withing the un-recorded off topic forums.

ouch... and your standard content patch runs about about 1 gig... (fortunatly they allow you to start downloading early) But only buying 1.0 and patching up to 3.2? you'd probably save more money from power bills buying BC and Wrath anyway.

Awesome/interesting games no one has heard of
Calax replied to Purkake's topic in Computer and Console
Homeworld 1 was a pretty amazing game given the hardware and tech level of the time. 2 looked better, but 2 also went a little bonkers in terms of story. Currently Relic has retrieved the rights to the series (2 years ago now) but I think that their working on other games at the moment in favor of Homeworld (building up Dawn of War and Company of Heroes methinks) -
http://www.mmo-champion.com/index.php?topic=92919.0 no new classes, but the combonations will be shaken up (human hunters and blood elf warriors!) Orgrimmar go Boom! Gnomergon getting rebuilt... Thousand Needles being flooded? this is going to be interesting!

Also, if you're gonna come in and troll/curse about something that the thread is about and never post constructivly? Go put your hand in a fire then try typing. Contribute, don't mindlessly scream. I don't think Wallyworld will let you bring back the game, and I'd suggest against it with dial up given that as is, it takes my broadband connection several hours to put in a content patch, for dialup you'll probably spend a day and a half just updating from 1.0 via downloads, and probably 8 hours just going from 3.0-3.2
