  1. Thanks. Was just about to post that.
  2. Except when you see it coming a mile away, in which case it's lame. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Some people predicted Yoshimo's treachery, while others were completely surprised. The same with most betrayals. There is no universal theorum for tricking the reader/gamer, some people pick up on clues that other people do not. Some people pick up on clues that don't actually exist. There is also the portion of people who claim they saw an action coming from a mile away, even if they didn't. The only traitor I didn't see coming was Melissan. That did actually surprise me a bit. The rest I predicted ahead of time, at verying lengths. Bastilla from the moment I picked up the game and interacted with her at length, versus Aribeth as I played into the 2nd or 3rd chapter, for example. I suspected Yoshimo was a traitor from the begining, at the same time as the game progressed I forgot about that. I found Yoshimo's treachery well written, while I found Melissan's lame despite the surprise. You can't please everyone all the time. Thus my previous statement, the fact that many of the games have a traitor in them is not a valid criticism due to its sheer simplicity. It'd be similar to critiquing a romance on the premise that they've had them in alot of their games as well. P.S. Silmarillion and the LotR books are not all they're cracked up to.
  3. Well, sure. I just think that he'll end up needing a new video card next Christmas. I'd, personally, have waited until the after-holiday price drop and gotten a better card. I suppose you could return the card. *shrugs*
  4. Okay, Obligatory rules posting: If Battlewookie did not respond to your PM, PM a different moderator. Preferably a global moderator (Fionavar, Antimatter, Hydrogen, or Tarna), who can deal with a problem in any forum, or a moderator with access to that particular forum. Posting publically regarding an issue with a moderator or a moderator's decision is against forum rules. With that said, I'm going to post my take on this matter, and the matter of moderation criticism on the whole. First on this matter, Battlewookie does not live in the US and has a timezone different than your own. It is very likely that he did not recieve your PM right away, or that he was to busy to read it at the time. I'm glad that you sent the PM first, but disappointed that you thought it would be more efficient to go on a rant in the forums rather than PM a different moderator. You cannot claim ignorance to the rule regarding public debate of moderation, I know you've discussed it before - you disregarded it. On the matter of criticism towards moderators, I'm glad that you have the courtesy to expressely direct the criticism towards the moderator, and not post vague comments in a sort of veiled insult. Moderators should be held accountable, but that is not a public accountability. You have no idea how much he said, she said goes on over such a trivial matter as a forum and what should be a simple matter of PMing the moderator you have a problem with. Its actually funny.
  5. I gotta admit I agree with you. More of the same is never a good thing. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> This is so overly simplified it is a completely irrelevent criticism. It is not the fact that people are betraying you in games. It is HOW the treachery is enacted which makes or breaks it as a plot device. Simplifying a critique to "there is always treason in your stories" hardly makes a difference. Treachery is a perfectly valid plot hook. Betrayal CAN BE a very heart-wrenching and anguish-inducing device. The reasons, and build-up to the event make or break the act, not the act itself.
  6. There is no absolute proof, given nobody was there to witness it, however Newtonian Physics deduces it through logic - ergo as science goes it's fairly a sturdy theory and for that reason worth being taught. There are very few serious scientists around that don't believe it to be correct. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> about the physics though, how did it all explode from a singularity that held the whole universe in it? would not the mass of the universe in that one point draw it all back to itself? that really doesn't make any sense. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No. Imagine a spring. You clinch down, and down, and down until suddenly it can no longer reduce. Then, suddenly it expands outward. A spring's density does not change as it shrinks, but it can only reduce to a certain point before the tension causes the potential energy to become kinetic. I'm sure thats not the best example, but in my inebriated state its the best I can come up with. Basically, when something implodes it does not shrink into nothingness, or to insignifigant sizes and then retain that size. It shrinks to its breaking point and then breaks, the energy that remains propels the pieces. Something like that, anyway. Been years since I looked into this stuff.
  7. Were you the crazy guy rushing people with the Paddles. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> At one point, yes. Not sure if you're refering to me, though. *Is Slipshadow*
  8. I got served pretty bad tonight, I did get 6 shock paddle kills, though. I blame the alcohol and the late hour
  9. Uhm.. no. I play the game to have fun and I don't see myself having fun resurrecting people instead of blowing them to bits. I've tried the tank tactics and it worked fairly good. The best way of getting lots and lots of points seem to be to learn how to fly a jet though. Damn those guys who can fly dominate every map I'm on. They just sit in the air and blast everything to pieces, drop bombs and rain missiles. The missiles you fire at them from the ground are too slow to catch them and the other weapons don't affect them at all. Only way to bring down a jet seems to be with another jet or, if you're lucky, with a chopper. In a way it feels like they're bad for the balance of the game because everytime there's a guy who can fly on, he wins the match by like.. 100 points. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Shock paddle kills are UNBELIEVABLY satisfying. I played about 6 hours straight doing nothing but shock paddeling people to death. Hard, but freaking awesome.
  10. Thread split. I go away for 2 days and you guys go nuts. Boo urns. New thread
  11. Forum Manners
  12. I managed to see Major Dizzle (or maybe Dill...), TheOneTrueJoe and one other whose name escapes me last night. It was like midnight and I was in dire need of sleep so I didn't really pay attention to who I was shooting.
  13. Clearly, you're just trembling in fear, hiding from me. Thus, preventing me from absolutely calzowning you. Clearly. Actually... I suck.
  14. Uhm... for someone who started his posting in this thread with the word "logic" you certainly aren't displaying it here. Yes, the NWN2 development is undoubtedly set on a schedule, taking a day, or two, or three out to fix a LESS than trivial set of bugs on an inconsequential forum will set that schedule back. Yes, NWN2 will have bugs but taking a day, or two, or three days to fix the forums takes valuable time that the developers could be using to fix those bugs. If the above is actually your position, you really have no right to complain about bugs in NWN2 when it is released. Afterall you know they'll be there, and you're willing to accept them... so long as you can make the forum font face multi-colored, bold and of varying sizes. Backward priorities, having you are.
  15. Thats 2 days that could be better spent making NWN2 have fewer bugs, or more content. I'll take the latter.
  16. Thread pruned. Stop bickering.
  17. It is never that simple. The fixed code could break some modification that Obsidian made. It could not be a fix at all, instead a whole new section of code that has to be placed in and require the removal of something else. Removing the something else could break another piece of code. The best route to go would probably be to update the forum software, and reapply any modifications Obsidian has made. Also have to factor in the fact that the bug might not be completely eradicated in the latest software, and that this bug is trivial at best. Basically, its not a good use of any Obsidian employee's time to fix such a menial problem.
  18. Uhm... KotOR2 was their creation, and moreso their coding than the forums. A lot moreso. Plus someone had to pay money in order for you to play KotOR2, which is why there is an expectation of quality. These forums are neither the focus of the company nor a requirement for them to maintain. All that said, they do maintain the forums and keep them relatively bug free. The fact that it took anyone a year + to mention a bug that has been around since the forums were created illustrates just how trivial the bug is. I'm sure Obsidian will do something about it, at some point, but you have to keep your priorities in order, and these forums are bottom rung.
  19. I'd rather see Obsidian commit themselves to finishing things rather than leave them half-done... If I have to do it myself I volunteer for the job. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That'd apply if these forums were Obsidian's creation and coding. It isn't.
  20. I'd rather see Obsidian dedicate their time to making great games than fixing trivial errors in forum code, myself.
  21. Thats the problem, very few people HAVE seen the show. Matter of fact, one of the stars of the show went by the FOX gift shop to purchase a season 2 DVD set and the vendor at the shop asked to see his FOX ID to get the employee discount. He laughed and pointed at his face on the box to convince her... they both must've felt really lame.
