  1. Closed since the conversation has completely shifted to WoW.
  2. Thread pruned for the last time, and I left some of the off-topic discussion in tact. Next time this thread (and several kittens) will be sporked.
  3. Some midgrade AGP 4x/8x cards I say midgrade, but they're actually the best AGP cards I could find anywhere. If you don't want to spend that much, you could go with a 6600 or 6200 series card for much less, but those don't support some newer technologies. Christmas is almost here, I'd wait until after that to get a new card.
  4. Define mid range in the context of your budget. How much are you looking to spend?
  5. I've had 400 people in a single Ventrillo server, no problems.
  6. In order to connect to that, I'd have to know the server info. You can connect to my vent or teamspeak, if you want. To connect use this as the server address for both. No IP or port needed. alrysi.game-host.org EDIT: Why I put password instead of teamspeak I'll never know. There is no password.
  7. Ventrilo has a better sound quality; on Vent I can talk at the same time as 2 even 3 people and understand everyone. On TS if 2 people talk at once you have no idea what anyone says. Ventrilo uses less resources. Ventrilo's options are easier to understand (at least for me) and doesn't have the clunky administration system that TS does. I run a TS and a Vent server, if I could afford to run a Vent server for my entire SG I would. Instead I use Vent for my close friends (or current teams) and family, and Teamspeak for everyone else.
  8. Ventrilo is superior in all ways but one; you can only have 8 people on a free server (which you must run). Teamspeak has no user limit.
  9. If I were you I would wait until after Christmas/New Years when prices drop and they have sales. Then get a new mobo with PCI-Express sockets and you'll have plenty of options for a graphics card.
  10. Thread pruned. Take it to PMs.
  11. Back to the topic of Battlefront II, shall we? Its nothing special. Notice, even in the comercials they harald it as "the sequel to the best selling Star Wars game ever" and not on its own merits? That should've set off a red flag, but it didn't and I picked up a copy. I was robbed!
  12. I'd bet you have an on-board video card, and that it rivals that card, anyway. Especially if you just got the PC two years ago. The MX440 is probably not an upgrade at all. I'd not bother using it, but thats just me.
  13. I'd write an essay were it not for the following factors: 1) I have a girlfriend. 2) I don't live anywhere near England. 3) This whole scenario creeps me out. P.S. No Walsingham, I will not go out with you and no amount of letters in newspapers from "your mum" will persuade me. Plz stop.
  14. Geteth backeth oneth topiceth.
  15. Not a fan of the Warriors, I guess its because it feels like I'm playing a GTA game, but based on a movie I didn't like. I mean, if you like GTA games a lot, and aren't looking for much innovation pick up Warriors.
  16. I think we can all agree that this thread has outlived its usefulness, no? Interplay has a website, yet has $30 to the company and a few assets they think they can sell. Discussing the glory (or lack thereof) of Planescape: Torment, not really on-topic. So for now... *turns key*
  17. Used to be a long time ago, yes. Not since the 4200 era, at least.
  18. I've never used Novatech (not sure we even have it in the states), but that looks like a good card. Just make sure you have a sufficient power supply (at least 350w).
  19. What company makes the card, Steve? Some company cards are bad if you overclock and open up new pipelines. With the depreciation of AGP 8x, you might want to invest in a card that performs well after an overclocking, etc... unless you want to buy a new motherboard and video card in another year or two. When purchasing video cards, I generally go with nVidia and generally Leadtek.
  20. The memory could be a problem depending on what games he intends to run. I use a card very similar to that on my home PC and can run most games on top settings with little slowdown. He has two factors working against him, really. The depreciation of AGP and my lack of knowledge about his particular PC. Curiosity, what kind of power supply does your PC run, Steve?
  21. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16814122193 Not too pricey, and I believe it is one of the top-of-the-line AGP 8x cards available. Depending on the manufacturer you'll get varying prices and benchmark/overclocking. I know its a USA company, but the card should be available in the UK. I don't like ATi, for several reasons. Under ideal situations they perform perfectly, but many games simply perform better with an nVidia card.
  22. I assume you have an AGP 4x/8x socket? Or were you going to upgrade that, as well?
