Congratulations to Monty Markland!
Having about the same ability to understand technical issues as a concussed bee, can someone please explain: when do I get to play more content using NWN2?

Bastila hotness rating
I concur. She was also terrifyingly dull.

Women in Iran
Oh yes (and the radio adaptation, too). Every so often I hear some extremist religious nut speaking on the radio and a chill runs down my spine as I think of the Republic of Gilead, but I console myself with the thought that the overwhelming majority of Christians would find it as repugnant as I do. Funny thing. You spoke to the majority of whites under apartheid they found it repugnant. It doesn't take everyone to enforce evil.

skiing
I'm not a fan of hurtling down mountains. I climb up mountains, like the portly mountain goat I am.

Reincarnation
Reincarnation ought to be falsifiable, at least in individual cases. I've not seen any tests.

US shoppers killed in gun rampage
I saw this on the day in history. http://news.bbc.co.uk/onthisday/hi/dates/s...000/2536661.stm You want to be famous, and get killed? Save a life, don't take it.

torment and BG2 questions
I freaking hate illithid. My main character had all her brains sucked out and I didn't notice it was down to 3 for AGES. I had to jump way back and reload.

US shoppers killed in gun rampage
Hurlshot has a point. I mean the uS is nothing compared to Brazil. They have a higher death rate than Iraq!

Women in Iran
Heh. Agreed it's not exactly reliable. But during the revolution al sorts of weird stuff was going on. One of the White Russian groups on the British side tried electing tehir officers, and being 100% democratic, with the result that they never went on operations.

Women in Iran
The sad truth may be that the enslavement of women through a 'gilded cage' of protection and/or enlightenment is not isolated to religious fervour. Viz this historical archive piece detailing the 'nationalisation' of women under Russian revolutionaries in 1918: http://www.naval-history.net/WW1z05NorthRussia.htm#6

US shoppers killed in gun rampage
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/7130504.stm Apparently he wanted to be famous. I'll just say that again, because I'm having trouble believing it. He wanted to be famous. FAMOUS FOR WHAT? WHAT IS THE POINT IN BEING FAMOUS FOR BEING A COMPLETE WANKER? *sobs* Oh the humanity.

...And plenty comes from science. People are prejudiced because they're weak or scared, lazy, or all three. How they justify the prejudice is just the wallpaper on the house. Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone else had read The Handmaid's Tale. They're re-running it on BBC7 radio, and I was reminded of how useful a dramatisation can be in bringing home emotional reality. I know Sand would love it.

You know what would also stop it? Powered armour. Hard to go on a rampage using Carl Gustavs. The ROF is much slower.

What you did today, part gazillion
Good instincts, my friend. Illegal scams, especially involving information, are for suckers. If you and your mates are canny enough to make this scam work then you should learn more about stocks, and make pots of cash perfctly legally.

Oh, it happened. I was here and it was glorious. When they make the film of these boards Feng gets played by Nick Cage.

I've NEVER had that damned function make a game play when it wouldn't before.

Things have been quiter since we uploaded those hypnagogic pain switches.

What you did today, part gazillion
What's the insanely rich idea, sluggo, ol' buddy? huh? Huh? I recently had the idea of making telescopic sights in the shape of a peace symbol. I bet those would sell.

Reading theslug's post I just had that dreadful sinking feeling you get when you realise you've got a horribly overdue library book.

What is with the new forum lay out?
I've had a chat to the veterans, and they explained that we had a period where abuse of the editing function to conduct flame wars got so bad that on one occasion Obs considered shutting the whole forum down. So, I guess in answer to your question, we have it because our members are so delightfully special.

desktop grahics on a budget
I've got a lovely shiny thermaltake case, which is kept sparkly clean, and on a surge protector. I guess it must have just been the graphics card, as the 7300 is good as gold. Anyway, fingers crossed I think I may have a big new client in the works, and if that comes through I can just buy a new damn PC! Woooo! *Does the dance of money*

Planescape: Torment
I'll give you a clue. That 'pencil installation engineer' was wearing a false moustache. fishdogg, what version of the game are you running? I seem to recall the game being re-released recently. If so, maybe that version is xp-friendly?

RIP Evel Knievel
He was suffering from a combination of diabetes, pulminory fibrosis, hepatitis C (likely contracted via a post-accident blood transfusion), and the aftermath of 2 prior strokes. I doubt that the doctors bothered much in figuring out which of these ailments pushed him over the edge. I see what you mean.
