  1. Like I say, it's interesting that the protests seem to have been surprisingly coreographed for 'spontaneous' demonstrations. Also, it's not like there haven't been protests in the UK by moderate Muslims demanding she be let go _immediately_. Many Muslims in the UK seem desperately annoyed that she is being treated this way.
  2. I only stoppped finsihing games when I began earning enough money to buy more than three games a year.
  3. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/7123517.stm I don't know if anyone has been tracking this row. If I can quickly summarise, a svolunteer teacher from the UK in Sudan asked her pupils (who are Sudanese) to choose a name for their class teddy bear. A boy called Muhammed nominated his own name, and the other children agreed it was the best for the bear. The teacher duly named the bear Muhammed. Some time later the teacher was arrested for blasphemy and sentenced to 15 days in jail, then deportation. Large crowds have rallied in Khartoum calling for her to be more severely punished. The Daily Mail, and other papers have portrayed this as a repeat of the cartoon protests, and used the subtext that Muslims are intolerant savages. However, other papers and the BBC have observed that the outrage appeared rather well organised, and is occurring at a delicate moment in negotiations over Darfur, and vacillation by the African Union. I was just rather interested that no-one else had raised the issue on the forum, and was curious to know if it was being covered elsewhere (I know it's on Al Jazeera) and waht perspectives there were.
  4. I hadn't considered Radeon. I have excessive brand loyalty, so I'll think about it now. How does the 3850 compare with my existing 7900GT? And where do I find the power rating on the PC? And where do babies come from?
  5. My graphics card is dying of leprosy. I can't play.
  6. I think that was what I was subconsciously aiming for. I mean, I'm not interested in getting a foot in the industry so yeah, why not have fun? The only problem at the minute is that I'm stuck without a graphics card and I can barely manage DVD! It sucks, but it's likely there will be no actual design for a bit. But then, I was supposed to work in paper first.
  7. Mister Whitehead, you sir, are a gibbon.
  8. Well, two things. Firstly, as I say, it's the same freaking price as the 7900, so price isn't the key question. Secondly, and more importantly, what about power and cooling for the 8800? Thirdly, (noone expects) I don't really have a very large or expensive monitor so the 8800 could be massive overkill.
  9. I really appreciate all your help, gentlemen. As for supporting dual weilding, the PC was offerred by Novatech as being two card capable with the 7900GT. But I'll double check. I think on balance I'm going to go for a 7900GT again. At least I know what to expect. Wait. Now I'm really confused. I can see 8800GTs going for teh same as 7900Gts
  10. I think my opinion of the official game press can be neatly summarised by the observation that I trust you guys a lot more.
  11. Thinking about it some more, the thought of some diehard wearing a tinfoil hat and scratching himself condemning the mod doesn't bother me in the least. Besides, the PCs aren't going to be all BG. It's the spirit of the thing I'm looking for.
  12. Aren't you a wee bit old for braces?
  13. jinx caught my idea slightly better than I did. Gambler really hit something. (Gorgon did too, but he'll only kick me if I let on).
  14. I'm interested by this interdependence thing. I mean, how seriously do people expect integrity when they actually buy the official playstation magazine. A magazine owned and run by the company which makes the freaking games? Actually, come to that, people read The Sun newspaper and listen to its reviews of Fox films.
  15. I remember my friends having it. It was pretty cool. But I didn't know he was a real person for years.

Well, the fact is that outside of most places and people you're much more likely to spawn babies than get/infect with HIV. But point taken. I just mean that when you're young you don't want to have kids because you think there's plenty of time in your life and you want to do other stuff; whereas when you're older you realise there's no time at all, and you had better get doing the other stuff right now. In many respects it's a lot like finding time to have dentistry. You can well believe that the dentitsry is a good thing, but it's expensive, time-consuming, hard to fit into a schedule, and painful.

I remember you saying about that hangover. I could feel the pain from here.
  18. I finally started to get over my hangover just in time for bed. I think 6 episodes of Angel helped.
  19. I agree. Integrity is good, but was it really worth his job to make us popcorn eating swine not buy a game?
  20. Rhomal, I can see your advice is perfectly sound, but I would simply not be me if I gave up on projects just because they were stupid.
  21. Well, obviously. I AM everyone on the internets.
  22. What would be the advantages to dual weilding? I'm prejudiced against it on grounds of 'certain' drow.
  23. I think any boy his age needs a dinosaur.

I'm confused. So I have a kid and I quit on my own future? That sounds bad.
