I'm more interested in where I'm supposed to get sunny afternoons.

Have 'discovered'* that black tea with copious cinnamon is delicious. Just make sure you vigorously mix the cinnamon into a paste with hot water before adding the tea and remaining water. *I was probably told to do this at some point.

Weirdly I had an ex who claimed her boobs were a sack full of live squirrels. Or did I claim it? Happy times.

Saw the last episode of Hemlock Grove. Like a bazillion other people I immediately looked up this song. I know it's sappy, but it actually made me miss all the parts of my family who are dead, gone, and/or forgotten. Teared up a bit, which, you know, is bloody helpful just before going to work.

I was about to joke that I should introduce you to one of my exes. Then I noticed that you actually live relatively near her. Ironically this has convinced me that I shouldn't.

I don't know many people who'd hold any young Serb responsible for any atrocities, and even many old ones may not have believed them or been able to do anything about it. The ...distasteful thing about Drowsy is not what he thinks Serbia did in the past. It's what he thinks we should all do in the future.

Boko Haram and the kidnpping of the school girls

I'm not 100% aligned with Numbers, as usual, but he talks the sense. All professional counter-insurgency in the last ten years says that you don't win by taking control away from locals. Locals ARE the win. Because you don't want to win for five, ten, or twenty years. You want to win. Nigeria can and should be helped. but ultimately this is Nigeria's fight. -
What kind of nation would deserve to win such a war? after a war, the important thing is to be alive while the enemy is not. the rest is trivial idealism See my sig.

Efficiency is not a get-out term for pretending to do something then scurrying off whistling. Or at least it shouldn't be. -
In the end, I always wind up with Tanqueray. It's not a bad gin, but I think you should stretch your legs a bit. There's a lot of interesting gins out at the moment. For the relatively minimal amounts that I drink of gin, I prefer an old stalwart over "being challenged"... LOL. Probably because you get more than enough challenge outside the drinks cabinet. *wry*

Did I miss something? When did either quick or easy become the criteria for judging whether something was a good idea? -
As a lifelong marines and Guard player you have no idea how conflicted this picture makes me feel.

1) stingers didn't bring down many helicopters. They're too finicky. But they did make the pilots change the way they acted, which helped the muj. 2) Boko haram, and AQIM, and all these benighted ****holes are part and parcel of an ideology that glories in this kind of thing. And while I'm sure very few board members agree with it, they spend so much time second guessing our own purity that in all the excitement they forget to protest the mundane obvious bad guys. I believe fundamentally that machinery of politics can be as dirty as a coalmine full of Hustlers, it still doesn't quite compare to what has actually happened. And I tend to agree with Bruce that if this had happened to white schoolkids there would be a lot less apathy. -
Slow cooked belly pork this morning. Coriander seed, salt. Curried beef shin this evening. I just can't get over how good high grade shin can be. I used one beetroot to colour and sweeten the curry.

I appreciate the thought, but rice starch and cooking fat forms a solid chalky greasy substance that would fend off xenomorph excretions. A big spoon, and abandoning all pretense of cleanliness is a lot cheaper and simpler. Even if I have had a sort of prickly heat sensation all over my hands for the last two hours. I can only assume some sort of abyssal flesh eating bacteria.

Bought new gin. I'm just toying with trying it out. It's full on with the botanicals. 30 odd herbs and spices.

Resentful about compromising my holiday to clear the house drains I drank a treble scotch and pretended sticking my hand into rancid solidified fat was some sort of indie kickstarter. Actually quite fun. Although I'm about to soak my hands in bleach to get the rancid smell off.

So thats how chestnuts are created? You're making PUNS in English now?

Big stew, I reckon. Or a curry. I have a lot of spare chilis and garlic.

See , now that's more like it. Disjointed statements, copy pasted images. NOW you're looking plausible.

Boko Haram and the kidnpping of the school girls

I dare say that quite a few Nigerians aren't too happy about this. I was already aware of this, but what do you expect? It doesn't change any of the basic dynamics of public opinion that are evident on these forums in microcosm. There are no bad guys any more. Just plucky revolutionaries and evil establishmentarians. Boko haram are revolutionaries and are therefore cool. I'm sure they're only raping those children because they didn't receive effective governance and postage stamps or something. The Western world has gone completely mad. -
Thanks for the advice. I'm buying it now.
