Grateful for the backers and the hype train
Agree with you OP. Steam forums can be a real joke at times.. It can start off well with a discussion then go south fast.

We need a bunch of non-backers buying this
middydj replied to Death Machine Miyagi's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)There are non backers buying this than you can imagine. I came in late so I ordered from GMG. Waiting on my key this week. Some of those that purchase from other sites such as gmg, gg, steam don't come to these forums at all. So you would be surprised to see others are learning of this game. Word of mouth has been huge.

so, how did ya'll started liking this genre?
Moving to the suburbs in the early 80s and seeing the guys in my classroom play DnD PnP. Although never allowed to participate with them, it peaked my interest. Then around 84 seeing Kings Quest on a IBM.. Legend of Zelda 87 or so. Then EQ(mmo) sold me totally on these type of games around 2001. Been buying them since then.

Thank you so much Obsidian for the Vallians
Good post. I can agree with your sentiment. We can rarely be found sometimes in these genre of games. Like the history you posted also. Amazing when one can dig and find hidden information about the past.

My hopes for PoE after Playing Dragon Age Inquisition
Agreed. If I was interested in playing DAI I would buy it. I want this game to be FAR from anything like games like DA. Also good to hear that coming from someone playing the BB. Good indeed.

Kickstarter in-game item / Pre-order in-game items
"Ultimately, it doesn't incentivize participation, it promotes exclusion and fuels piracy out of necessity." You must know a lot of pirates or be up on the data on piracy. Many times I don't get exclusives you speak of and I WON'T pirate a game. I just buy the game. Thats life in general. You will be excluded from many things as you grow older. Its how you deal with it which is what matters..

Giddy
Yeah, I know there's no spoilers per se, but what I personally mean is I don't want to feel like I'm familiar with the game before I play the full game, if that makes sense. It's not just about plot/npc reveals - I like the sense of new-game discovery to be a more total experience the first time I play. But I do like to take a peek in and see how the graphics/UI etc. look, from time to time. I can concur with your feelings of not wanting to watch many videos. I want to be surprised when the game is released. I have been avoiding them as well.
