  1. Metallica asked me to tell you this: I think they're still bitter.
  2. I don't mind the Cure, but I'm not a big fan. For some reason I never really got into bads like Cure and Depressed Mode. Maybe it was that I wasn't into music as much in the 80's. The first time I owned a Cure song on a CD was when I bought the Crow Soundtrack.
  3. You can tell people you are Germany all day long, whether you have Germany or not. People will believe you or not. However, if you lie about controlling Germany and promise that Germany will move in a certain way, you will likely be discovered. That tactic may work in the early stages of the game, though I don't advise that you lie to everyone about what country you are actually playing, or you won't be left with any actual diplomatic ties. Let's also say for instance that you are England, and that you contact Jags who is Germany. Jags tells you he is Russia, and you tell Jags that you are Germany. Uh-oh. He is immediately going to know. It adds more mystery to the diplomacy aspect of the game, and makes tactics even more difficult with more unknown variables.
  4. I have a friend of mine, Tony, who has a decent rig. It literally took 10-15 minutes per load screen and the game was bugged to the point he could barely play. He said he loved what he saw, but he couldn't play it. That is RPG of the year?
  5. No, I contend she is one of the greatest lyricists alive. http://www.azlyrics.com/a/amos.html Every single one of her songs is like poetry. And as much as I prefer dark, nasty, angsty industrial and rock music, Tori Amos is hands down the best concert experience I've ever had in my life. If there is a bette live performer, I've yet to see them.
  6. Why did you kill Handmaiden? Thats it! You're grounded!
  7. You're saying KOTOR:2 didn't have Torment references?
  8. I actually cried when I heard Tori Amos tell the story behind this song and sing it live. "Marianne" - Tori Amos (maybe the best lyricist I know) Tuna Rubber A little blubber in my igloo And I knew you pigtails and all Grils when they fall And they said Marianne killed herself And I said not a chance Don't you love the girls ladies babes Old bags who say she was so pretty why Why why why did she crawl down in the old Deep ravine C'mon pigtails girls and all those sailors Get your bags and hold down won't you just Hold down cause Ed is watching my every sound I said They're watching my every sound The weasel squeaks faster than a seven day week I said Timmy and that purple Monkey Are all down At Bobby's house Making themselves pesters and lesters and jesters an dmy Traitors of kind And I'm just having thoughts of Marianne She could outrun the fastest slug She could Marianne Quickest girl in the frying pan
  9. I saw Verve Pipe, Tonic and K's Choice together for like $15 and it was actually a great show. I like happy songs... "State of Love and Trust" - Pearl Jam Oh ... State of love and trust as I busted down the pretest Sin still plays and preaches, but to have an empty court, uh huh And the signs are passin`, grip the wheel, can`t read it Sacrifice receiving the smell that`s on my hands ... hands, yeah And I listen for the voice inside my head Nothin`, I`ll do this one myself Lay her down as priest does, Should the lord be accountin` Will be in my honour, make it pain, painfully quick, uh huh Promises are whispered in the age of darkness Want to be enlightened like I want to be told the end ... end, yeah And the barrel shakes aimed a-directly at my head Oh, help me, help me from myself And I listen yeah, from both sides of the bed Nothin`, I`ll do this one myself Oh oh ohMyself ... myself Yeah, yeah ... Hey, na-na-na-na, hey that`s something Hey, na-na-na-na, hey that`s something Hey, na-na-na-na, hey that`s something Wanna back, back it away, yeah And I listen, yeah, for the voice inside my head Nothin`, I`ll do this one myself Oh, ah, and the barrel waits, trigger shakes Aimed right at my head, won`t you help me Help me from myself Eh Oh Eh Oh Ehh (x2) Hmm ... state of love and trust, and a ... State of love and trust, and a ... State of love and trust, and a ... State of love and ... yeah yeah
  10. So let me get this straight, people are upset that KOTOR:2 won an award for 30 hours of good gameplay with a bad ending while Bloodlines which many people can't get to play at all should win?
  11. 3DRealms is working on both FO4 and KOTOR:4 and you know it!
  12. Jade Empire can be beat in two days. KOTOR:2
  13. Exhibit A: Despite a reasonable request for shortening turn length, Reveilled turns down said request due to lack of "practicality". Also showe innate familiarity with postal diplmacy flat out contradicting his so called lack of expierence with the game. Well, according to my information, some people are still absorbed in Negotiation right up to the end of the turn, so no, I don't think that would be practical. It's probably just because you're Italy. Everyone wants Italy to go away in the first few years. But if you can convince everyone to agree to a new turn length, I'll change it. If you prefer, we could collect everyone's street addresses and lengthen the turn duration to one month like has been the tradition of the game for many a year. " <{POST_SNAPBACK}> --- Exhibit B: Thereby gaining permission from all realistically involved in the game. ---- Exhibit C: Despite favor for restart, Rev still adheres to obstinance for its own sake - despite earlier contradicting himself that he will shorten the length (should everyone decide to do so). <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Did Aishur? " Besides, aren't any of you joining game 3? Wouldn't you rather keep the turn length the same and just double the volume of negotiation? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> --- Exhibit D: Once, again show instrinsic knowlege of postal games unlikely to be gained without actually participating. Well, in actual postal games, a deposit is usually required such that if you stop submitting moves before you are actually eliminated, then you lose your deposit. We don't do that, obviously, so I can only ask that people see their country through to its end. A player fighting a determined opponent will have a far harder time of it than a player fighting someone who just gives up, and it's not really fair on the other players if the person who makes the attack gets a free lunch when by rights they shouldn't. Come on, Archie! Fight them on the beaches! Fight them on the landing grounds! Fight them in the fields and streets! Never Surrender! <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
  14. I disagree. Watching extensive documentaries on LotR and Star Wars, Lucas and Jackson appear to be VERY similiar directors when it comes to overseeing the design process, the script, the editting process, etc. Both focus heavily on visuals. I think the difference between the two as directors isn't that great. Lucas however is flawed greatly as a screenwriter. Lucas has also said that sound is as important, if not more so than visuals. He invented THX sound, and then invented THX 6.1 for Episode 1 and demanded theatres install new sound systems to carry his film. He is meticulous in almost every aspect of production. Very few directors (read none in a modern setting) actually lens their own films. However, Lucas has more control over his shot than most directors since so much is done in post-production which he controls fully. He storyboards, oversees animitronics, and then tells ILM exactly what he wants to see. Most directors rely on the DOP to create shots. And watching behind the scenes stuff, for any piece of artwork, Lucas will often call for 300 samples and then choose one. So he has his hands deeply imbedded in the look of Star Wars. Most people wouldn't realize that Doug Chaing only did Episode 1, or that none of the original trilogy design staff worked on the prequels for art. He kept a consistent visual language because of his auteur vision despite the changing art staff. I said that some would call him an auteur. Given the dictionary defintion of the word, he certainly meets that criteria. You throw out an absolute statement that he is most definately not an auteur based on a connotation that not only have I never really come across, but also doesn't exist in the dictionary.
  15. I already did!
  16. Kate Winslet is both a talented actress and mega-hot. Titanic was a good movie, though I'm not sure I would call it great. I still watched it atleast 5 times despite the weak dialogue.
  17. I read it a long while back. It is the most objective study on the subject.
  18. Alice in Chains is pretty good, and there is a rumor they are getting back together. I am currently listening to sports talk radio.
  19. Pacino was awesome in Devil's Advocate. I was shocked that Keanu held his own, but Pacino was flat out awesome.
  20. Here is how communication works. I will publish contact info for the seven players. Rather I will email each of you a list of email contacts for each other so a spambot doesn't get your email addresses from this thread. You may contact each other freely all day long claiming to control whatever country you want to claim. In reality, no one will really know who is controlling which country save for yourself. If you wish to release official press, then email it to me. If you posted in this thread as Germany, then everyone will know for a fact that you are playing Germany. So press has to go through me. But normal diplomacy you can do on your own.
  21. Except when the UN wants troops somewhere, they send us.
  22. I thought Source handled its own physics, but apparently I'm smoking crack.
  23. From what I've witnessed, it takes 3 years for him to make a movie simply because he has to personally oversee EVERYTHING. That makes him an auteur. Most other filmmakers rely on second-unit directors, producers, etc. to have almost an equally large share in the film. In and of itself, directing, writing and editting could make one an auteur since you control so much of the film from that angle.
