The definition of auteur is: A filmmaker, usually a director, who exercises creative control over his or her works and has a strong personal style. Given that definition, then Lucas is an auteur.

If they are built to operate like a democracy, why forbid the use of the term democracy in one's personal blogs? A country whose press is completely controlled and doesn't even have basic freedom of speech is backwards in my book.

Obsidian Forums Diplomacy Game 1 (OBS-1)
EnderAndrew replied to Reveilled's topic in Pen-and-Paper Gaming
In Fantasy Football, let's say one player decides to give up halfway during the season and wants to trade away his best players to another team to shift the balance of power in the league. A vote requiring unanimous decision couldn't happen, so an unfair trade would occur destroying the legitimacy of the league. A majority or 2/3's vote however keeps the game fair. In this case, 2 out of 7 players were shafted right off the bat. 6 players out of 7 were fine with a reset. 1 wasn't. I wonder if that one player had an unfair advantage because of not resetting. The GM sure implied as such. So one person wanting to keep an unfair advantage in the face of 6 players who are unhappy is fair? If that is what you truly believe is fair, then yes I feel completely vindicated assassinating your character. -

Hopefully he can update the map as well and show where units actually are. You can figure it out from the orders, but it is nice to see it on the map. -

I'll hunt the quotes down. I'm looking right now, and one thing that I found interesting was when the players went absent to begin with, you suggested that the countries should just be vacant. Surely you wouldn't suggest anything that would give you an unfair advantage in the game? The bulwark of your arguement is that it isn't fair to the players to do anything that doesn't have a unanimous vote, so something that unfairly supports one player can't be overturned, even if six people would object. Yep, that's totally fair. I don't think you understand or care what fair is. -

Yup. Uh-huh. Whatever. Do you even have a back-pedal for saying that you aren't for forcing players to play a game that isn't fun? -

This comes from Allard: So if you don't buy the $400 version, you don't get backwards compatibility. Why list backwards compatibility as a core feature of the system when it requires a peripheral? Where is Epiphany? I'd love to see what he has to say about this considering he was saying M$ would have a HDD standard, and that Sony lies about their specs but M$ is the bastion of honesty. -
What music are you listening to right now?
EnderAndrew replied to Cantousent's topic in Way Off-Topic
I rarely listen to classical music, but that is one of my favorite pieces. -
They were corrupted by the discovery of Traya Academy I thought, and information at the Traya Academy led them to the Star Maps and Star Forge.
-
I generally agree with that philosophy.

I agree, but the world has allowed China to get away with that attitude. Personally, if we had a real international governing body and not the mockery that is the UN, I think we should hold up international trade laws and not allow countries like China to openly pirate billions every day.

60 Hours of Hopeless Romancing

So you discount improvements because you expect them? You're not holding the games to the same standard. You can't compare them unless you can make some effort at being objective. And very alienating at times... The KOTOR:1 story didn't have much too it. The KOTOR:2 storyline has inspired speculation and debate. Clearly the story was deeper. I wouldn't say so... KOTOR:1 had some of the cheesiest, ridiculous dialogue. Even on places like Peragus, I enjoyed watching the holo-vids and seeing how things played out, because each NPC felt like a real person. The dialogue was MUCH better in KOTOR:2. But nothing to show in the end for going DS In a cliffhanger there is nothing to show either way. And whie people are want to rip on KOTOR:2's ending all day long, we forget that KOTOR:1's ending wasn't all that great. There wasn't much of anything to it. It was handled better than KOTOR:2's ending, but if Obsidian didn't rush the game, I'd argue KOTOR:2's ending would be better. -
I think what Kreia tells you about Revan varies on what you said happened in KOTOR:1 and possibly also vaires depending on your current alignment. If Revan wasn't corrupted by the DS, he would have never tolerated Malak as his apprentice.
-
Yes on both counts. The Marine Force Recon group trains the Navy Seals, and is really the premiere military unit in the US, and arguably the world. I think the initial aggressor will have a big advantage in getting the initial jump. Both are juggernaughts who can do massive damage.
-
I tend to agree.
-
KOTOR:2 suggests that Revan wasn't evil, though corrupted.
-
I think it is also dangerous when the UN ignores China using nuclear demonstrations as a scare tactic on Taiwan, or transmigration practices. I don't know for a fact how well China could surprise us or vice versa. I do know we have stealth technology, and the ability to mobilize very quickly. Also don't underestimate the role of covert recon operations.

KOTOR:2 was improved in the following areas: Skills more useful Non-Jedi characters more useful Workbench T3 much better character overall Deeper storyline Better dialogue More force powers Influence system Better mini-games Better dark side path On the whole larger areas. KOTOR:1 had one really big planet and several small ones. KOTOR:1 has the following advantage: Better ending Now add those up and tell me which is the better game overall? -
I think that is a very good question. Kreia suggested that he didn't weaken resources, but he did kill plenty of people and waste lives fighting the wrong enemy. One could argue that whether or not he intended to, Revan weakened the galaxy setting up the True Sith to come in and threaten the place in KOTOR:3.

I never ran into that problem with her and I don't recall telling her to put her clothes back on, but maybe I did. The mods can eventually move this to the spoiler area. For the time being just use spoiler tags. -
I agree. It is what some people call auteur filmmaking.

No isometric maps, I promise. I like maps that are easy to read and yet look like a real map.

Like I said, I think the initial aggressor has a huge advantage in the ability to cripple communications, logistics and air support systems.
