I rarely play the card game. None of the hobby stores in Omaha sell anything L5R for some odd reason, so I can't find players. I used to play Crab and Shadowlands decks, but the Scorpions always interested me. In the RPG, I enjoyed the Dragon clan the most, but also felt a strong draw to the Scorpion clan.

I've been playing L5R since the the first PnP book was released. I also knew one of the developers (Ree Soesbee) personally. She also did the Warlord CCG. There is magic in the world, but the plot and story seems to be more focused on politics between the Clans, and other than the Phoenix, most clans use Samurai primarily. The Shugenja are quite powerful, but they seem less numerous.

The supporting cast looks wonderful. Those who know the plot have suggested this will have the best ending of any superhero film to date. I'm rather excited. While I enjoyed the first Batman when it came out, I rewatched it the other night for the first time in ages and it doesn't hold up well. It's rather slow actually, and poorly editted. The imagery was great (like any Tim Burton movie), but the direction wasn't perfect. The sequels got progressively worse with each one. I loved when they got directors who had never read a comic book in their life, and never intended to. It's good to see guys like Singer and Raimi directing comic franchises. I am a bit sad that Singer left X-Men to do Superman. X3 has a lot more potential than Superman.

No, you're right. I think I was level 2. But I avoided leveling up until I got to Dantooine.

I agree. I think it was a good thread. I'm just pointing out that the time for getting suggestions into the game has passed a bit.

More importantly, does this planet that we know nothing about fit in with the theme, scope and story of The Sith Lords? People may have a problem with so many planets, but each new world offers the possibilities of new aliens, new flora, new fauna, new cultures, new stories, etc. I think it's a little unrealistic and sad that each planet is so simplified, but I think it's a cop out. The movies only spend so much time in each location. Authors can take more time in various locations expanding on these worlds.

I killed Bendak with melee as a level 1 soldier. However, I did it like a chump. I saved, and paused. If I hit him, I saved. If I missed, I reloaded.

Don't forget Voice Acting and Music
EnderAndrew replied to Paladin's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Obsidian isn't handling voice-acting or music. Lucas is. Go bug LucasArts. -
The game is basically finished from Obsidian's perspective. I think balance and difficulty issues may be addressed, but it's done from a design perspective.

This thread hurts my head.

Please make KOTOR 2 longer!
EnderAndrew replied to SteveMcCool's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I don't understand how you can spend 65 hours on KOTOR. Read a walkthru, and you'll see the quests aren't that complicated. I have several save-games on my X-Box where friends beat KOTOR at my house. The average playtime seems to be 25-30 hours to beat the game. Do you read really slow? -
Legend of the Five Rings has a little magic in the setting. But there are very few Shugenja, and the focus is more on Samurai. I think Feudal Japan is a great setting culture-wise as well. Sincerity is more important than honesty, and honor is paramount. I think one of the main reasons someone hasn't made a game like that is because of how restrictive it would be in certain areas. Sure, your Samurai could kill peasants all day long. But the first time you sound off to your Daimyo, you're dead.

The animations new Force Powers look impressive. However, I didn't care for the sound in the trailer. KOTOR's trailer gave me goosebumps the first time I saw it. It had Star Wars music, and the story looked very Star Wars. This trailer doesn't seem very Star Wars at all. The high point has to be the Force Crush attack. The low point has to be the odd shaking camera like this is an old Sam Raimi movie. The trailer was okay.

Sell both versions. Sell a cheaper version on DVD that just comes in the DVD case. And you can get a DVD drive with free shipping for $25.

In all seriousness, I am quite shocked that there hasn't been a major feudal Japanese RPG. Japanese console RPG makers have focused on Samurai's in space, or Mech-battle RPGs, but not even Sqauresoft has put out a Samurai RPG. I think the potential for such a title is huge, and I'd really like to see Obsidian take a stab at the genre in a future project. If possible, take a look at the Legend of the Five Rings license.

RPGs should either be cooperative play online (ala Diablo), have strategic multiplayer combat (like Fallout Tactics) or even better, merely focus on being a good single player game. If you want Jedi multiplayer, you've got Jedi Academy, Jedi Outcast, Obiwan, Jedi Powerbattles, Jeid Knight II, etc.

Will there be stuff in the dueling ring? Or is that a secret too?

The story was decent, but the execution a little lackluster. They have good ideas for NPCs, and didn't find a good way to develop a flow of dialogue. Every time you get X experience, a NPC would stop you, and start blabbing about their past, and then tell you they didn't want to talk about something, when they started the conversation. The events, and characters were fine. The storytelling itself could be greatly improved upon. I have high expectations for KOTOR:2 from your past games, and I do expect the story to be better in KOTOR:TSL.

I'm picturing Humpty Dumpty, and a cracked cranium.

As much as I dislike Nintendo systems since the SNES, I must admit I still have a weakness for Mario titles. Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga is very fun indeed, and I'm looking forward to Paper Mario 2.
-
I felt the N64 was a huge disappointment as a system. I got one right at launch, and Mario 64. Playing Mario in 3D was wonderful. The level designs were clever, and the game was non-linear. It was a whole new world for platform titles suddenly. Yet, the 64 didn't deliver on any decent titles for years after Mario 64's release. Many said the system was a pain to program for, and all the good development houses made Playstation titles. The processor on the 64 was superior to the Playstation's, but due to a poor SDK, and a lack of memory, most N64 graphics were poor.

Since Project Pennsylvannis is actually Redneck Rampage 2: A Hunka-Hunka Burning Fun, do you guys play the first Redneck Rampage a lot for inspiration, or do you just get drunk and wildly shoot at chickens?

I think it's great that Feargie joins in on the games occassionally. Before I moved back to the midwest, I interviewed with a top-notch web-development firm in LA. They had a nice zen-garden and arcade in their offices. You could take a break and challenge the CEO to air-hockey during the work day. I however, knew I would ultimately get fired for owning the CEO at air-hockey repeatedly.

I'm still holding out on the puffin-dingos. I think we need to dedicate an entire project to exploring their potential.

Episode 2: The Clone Wars George Lucas says he wants to recall the names of the serial-style movies in the '40s. That's fine. I think The Clone Wars is much better than Attack of the Clones. Since George Lucas pulls a lot of inspiration from Kurasawa, I think it would have been neat to call Episode 1: The Hidden Emperor (which is very reminiscent of The Hidden Fortress which was a huge inspiration for A New Hope).
