Shocking News! Daikatana dude leaves Midway!

Shocking news! Hades and Volourn have been known to be bitter and critical! -
Most of these contracts are very specific. If one side violates the terms, the other side should be able to get out of it. And I don't know if most of the teams will lower or raise prices. ESPN seems to suggest on the whole, prices will go down, where as we have one example of a team raising prices. Who is the exception?

Unable to use the force (moderate spoilers)

Has Atton leveled up yet? And what is his alignment? He may not have enough Force Points to use those if he only has one level of Jedi class yet. -

IWD:2 was also a horribly rushed sequel that almost didn't get released from what I understand. It's not a great example of what can be done given a reasonable development cycle. -
Star Wars or Matrix with GURPS rules
EnderAndrew replied to Jediphile's topic in Pen-and-Paper Gaming
If you play the video game, it explains how Neo can affect the Sentinels in the real world, though the movie perhaps didn't explain it clear enough. Neo left through an exit of his own invention in Reloaded and didn't properly jack out. His mind was torn between two worlds for a while. I think the spoon line was just a reminder and didn't need more explanation. The core belief behind everything in the Matrix is that power comes from questioning the existance of everything we believe in. Only in proper perspective do we gain insight and power. There are millions of references, such as the young girl Sati, throughout the films for people who study religion and philosophy. For your core audience, Revolutions took way too long to get to the point. I think they missed a great opportunity for a great set piece in Revolutions. Neo was torn between two worlds, while Agent Smith was both in the Matrix and in the real world. I was hoping they would fight in both worlds simulatenously, cutting back and forth between a brutal, realistic fist-fight and the Super-Sayan-esque battle. All in all, I was really unimpressed with the final battle between Neo and Agent Smith. -
I'm down, but I don't want to take a seat away from a potential new player. So consider me an alternate if you don't fill the game.

The official late 80's eary 90's TV series thread

The thread was originally about Tropical/Action style shows. Now it is just mentioning every TV show that aired in the 80's. And I don't see Dr. Who as just an 80's show because it has spanned so any decades. -

I think a two week window is fair, but at the same time there is a valid point in that there has been no official annoucement giving a date. A third party claims to have gotten said date from Mr. Morgan -

I never once heard Troika blame Sierra for Arcanum. They seemed fairly proud of their first game, and I read interviews with Tim Cain where they openly took credit for their failings. They said they made a good world in Arcanum with poor combat, and that ToEE had good combat with a poor story. They felt that they were still learning and that future games might bring everything together. I'm sad to see Troika go because they were going to do a spirtual successor to Fallout. At the same time, they do need better programmers as their code is often really buggy. -

TSL Restoration Project: Work in Progress

Jodo Kast, go to xbox-scene.com and read up on all the tutorials. But basically you have to decide between a software mod (requires something like an Action Replay to transfer hacked game saves) or a hardware mod. I prefer a hardware mod, but it costs a bit more money. If you do a hardware mod, you need to decide which mod chip to buy, but I'm sure most any chip will do what you really need it to do. I highly recommend a router so that you can hook your XBox up to your internet connection, and so you can FTP and copy files to your XBox. -
It has been said that he was a good marksman. By Marine Corps standards, I barely qualified, but I'm blind and I can't see the targets I'm shooting at from 500m. The really good marksman in the Marine Corps consistently group shots at 1000m. Then again, by Army standards I would have been a Sharpshooter.

On a semi-related note, anyone following the Terrel Owens deal in the NFL? He played one year on a seven year contract and now he is refusing to play unless he gets obscenely more money. Contracts like these go to arbiters every year, and arbiters almost always side against owners. TO is making really good money, and I always felt like contracts should be binding. The owners can't decide to stop paying you after one year if they like, but players can decide to stop playing. I think if a player refuses to play, that salary should not count against the cap and the team should have the opportunity to shop for a new player. Consider the player on strike.

We assume the planet is pure gas because we measure the gravitational effects we can observe from the planet and then calculate what the mass of the planet must be. Given the planet's size, and low mass, we then assume a low density, and thusly a gas planet. However, there are major problems with how we are measuring gravitational effects in space, and we have to come up with random fixes to broken physics, like dark matter and dark energy. Really, it's just a guess.

The rules seem a bit cumbersome when reading them, but really they aren't that bad. -
Star Wars or Matrix with GURPS rules
EnderAndrew replied to Jediphile's topic in Pen-and-Paper Gaming
I enjoy philosophy. I enjoy psychobabble. I see the two Matrix sequels in almost the same light as the first two Star Wars prequels. They had really great moments sandwiched inbetween some really less than great moments. Because of the franchise tag, we had really high expectations and judged them a bit more harshly than we should. The freeway sequence in Reloaded still stands as the greatest damned chase sequence in film history. Carrie Anne Moss broke her leg doing that sequence, and the city of LA refused to let them film, insisting atleast one person would die. They should no one could pull off such a sequence. So they went to the desert in Australia and build a stretch of freeway just to film that. I think Revolutions had the greatest potential, and fell flat. It was very poorly editted, and the first hour drags horribly. The fight for Zion is really incredible, but the requisite martying of Neo just brings the film right back down. There are some who suggest that Neo isn't dead, and that the resurrected Oracle is in fact Neo. You may note at the very end she is wearing Neo's glasses. It would fit in with the whole Christ-Neo thing, and the whole trilogy being a reflection of Gnostic Christianity. -
What are you playing ? (looking forward too)

Evil Genius is a blatant Dungeon Keeper rip-off. Have you tried that? -
Bloodlines requires a first-rate computer, so don't feel bad GoA. I won't tell you simply to buy more RAM. I'll tell you to build a better computer. Athlon 64 all the way!

I think Torment could pass Hasbro's guidelines and I'm fine with that. I've read the guidelines and people need to understand first off that they are not hard and fast rules, but guidelines. Secondly, many of them are reasonable. -

The future Phantom of the Opera. -
I was in the Marine Corps and aiming at a moving target still requires some aim and adjustment between shots.

The main reason I thought the existing league should fold is so that guys like Bettman would be out of jobs. Now the same schmucks on both sides that caused the first year long labor stopage in North American professional sports are in the position to screw up the NHL again. And ESPN has been reporting that the new CBA is calling for lower ticket prices. Yet Volourn has been insisting the owners did all this so they can raise ticket prices and make even more of a profit.
