  1. West End Games D6, the new World of Darkness, Exalted, Toon, etc. They were quite playable of the box with no house rules.
  2. Last turn I was in diplomatic communication with counties with whom I shared a border.
  3. Boxers and bathrobe? I call it the Arthur Dent special.
  4. Certain genres don't appeal to the masses generally. You need to accept that when making such games. Howevering, making a good game in the genre can lead to incredible sales. The Final Fantasy series is a good example of a JRPG that wasn't changed or altered for the American market, but it sold really well here. Don't assume the worst about your target audience all the time. I think one of the reasons that Lost is quickly growing to be one of the most popular shows on television is that it doesn't treat its audience like idiots.
  5. :darque:
  6. We assume that, but especiallly with western RPGs, I think your target audience is smarter than your average bear. Why keep dumbing things down when the hallmarks of the genre challenged players?
  7. I will defend any game's magic system that allows for unique spell creation, which is extremely rare in CRPGs. I will defend any magic system which offers thousands of spells, which is extremely rare in CRPGs. Could they have added more? Yes. And fans can script new effects and put them in with the editor.
  8. Color me crazy, but Morrowind was developed for the PC and console at the same time, and when I play it on the PC, it feels like a real PC title. The interfact works rather well on the PC, and I don't believe it was dumbed down for a console market. I think the NPC dialogue system and combat had major flaws, but console games are rarely non-linear and allow for the exploration that Morrowind offered. GTA is the exception, but GTA has really good action. I don't think we need to demand that developers overlook consoles, as developers need to get paid so they can continue to make games. I think developers need to stop dumbing down games period.
  9. Ironically enough I highly recommend some GTA action. It works rather well.
  10. AMD suiing Intel over illegal practices, and winning already in Japan...
  11. I actually preferred Commander Keen as a property over Duke.
  12. I think something simpler would be preferred.
  13. I wouldn't compare any Gauntlet game to God of War just yet, but I would say Seven Sorrows (not six of them) appears to be the best of the 3D incarnations of the franchise. The story for Jefferson seemed to be one of the few truly deep and unique stories in video games. Mind you it is rooted deeply in Celtic mythology, but I certainly don't mind a move away from the overdone Greek mythology, and being being of Irish descent, I enjoy Celtic mythology. There are very few stories and games in the industry that I feel challenge the player to think, and we need more of them. Sawyer is one of the few devs I have faith can pull off such things.
  14. I loved the King's Quest series and I really couldn't play King's Quest VIII. The graphics, and dialogue are horrible. Even worse the solutions were predictable, and the game felt dumbed down.
  15. Again Ultima VII appeared on the SNES and it really wasn't horribly dumbed down from the PC version suprisingly, but I don't see why an even more faithful port isn't possible.
  16. I think the tile/layer they use for railroads shouldn't be so big or overbearing. It made your empire look a mess.
  17. The title is misleading. Rockstar put in the sex-game that got everyone so upset and left in the code. Mod-makers aren't really responsible for this whole mess.
  18. I suspect the real reason behind the move is that they want someone new to DM their games.
  19. I'm also curious what your role will be on NWN:2.
  20. Trust me, if you had a gmail account, it would be the only one you used.
  21. Though for professional reasons I doubt it will be said, you could say why you left Midway. It's not common to leave a project you're working on so late in development.
  22. Not from the same computer at the same time. That's not the way cookies work.
  23. If I ever play as a player, I'll play a blind character. BTW, one of the companies that was making a Cthulu game just went out of business. It wasn't Bethesda obviously...
  24. Why would Sawyer lie about it?
  25. I think Carth is considerably less well hung than Ron.
