  1. I think eight players max for a table-top style game, though I have run LARP games with as many as 85 players, but that is a completely different beast. IRC or any similiar chat room that people would prefer is fine with me. We do have a female character played by Kaftan. I have no problem with players reading the Guide to the Camarilla as it provides a rudimentary knowledge of how the Camarilla works. If you would prefer to play a brand-new neonate vampire who really doesn't know much, that is fine, but the Guide to the Camarilla is a player's guide and doesn't contain much in the way of secrets. Archmonarch might start keeping the first post updated with all the details. Here is so basic character creation help: -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- The character sheet gets filled in top to bottom, and is put into sections. The very top portion covers the concept, and the most important area here is your nature and demeanor. The book I sent you has a section called Archetypes, and you pick an Archetype for your Nature, and one for your Demeanor. Your Nature reflects who you really are as a person. (Also you aren't limited to these Archetypes, and you might come up with a new one like Scholar). When you are really roleplaying your true Nature, you can request that I reward you with Willpower points which are quite handy. Demeanor however reflects not who you truly are, but how you come across to the world. If you are a Scholar, do you come across as a Curmudgeon or Pedantic? In the attributes section, you will notice the first dot in every attribute has been filled in for free, because you can't have an attribute rating of zero. Pick one group (Physical, Social, Mental) to focus on. That group gets seven points to distribute amongst the three attributes in that category. Then you choose a category to distribute five points and a category that gets three points. You basically do the same with skills. One group gets 13 points (I think) and then maybe 9 and then 5? You get five points for backgrounds, and there are several backgrounds listed in the book. I recommend that you spend a few points on the Generation Background. You then get to put three points in Discplines. The disciplines you can start with are determined by your Clan. Then you spend seven points on your three virtues. Your first point in each virtue is free since you can't have a virtue rating of zero. Your Courage Rating then becomes your Willpower rating. Your Conscience and Self-Control add up and become your Humanity rating.
  2. I'm sorry it took me so long to get back in town, but my car died in South Dakota. I can answer any and all questions anyone has about the game. I think IRC or a WebRPG program would work best. I work nights, so it would be harder for me to run the game during the day. Honestly, my schedule might suit the European players best, but we'll see.
  3. Surprisingly I have never been warned. Though when I tangent, I do try to swing topics back on track.
  4. Then we should clarify that we're discussing stories in RPGs. JE Sawyer was discussing stories in games, period, citing titles like Splinter Cell.
  5. Way Off Topic posts don't count for post count. Perhaps they can make it so the Moderation folder doesn't add post count either.
  6. Don't answer with the phrase, "Oh honey, I like some junk in the trunk!" This is the honest current state of romance in RPGs (games that win 9.9/10 reviews mind you). Furious Ming: I love you. Dawn Star: Perhaps we should talk about this later when you hit arbitrary experience level or plot point. Ming: But we've known each other our whole lives and we obviously have a thing for each other. Dawn: I dunno. Can I get back to you? Ming: The Princess is way hotter and flirty. Why should I wait around for this? Dawn: At some point in the game I promise we'll eventually talk about this. Ming: Well we're 95% through the game. Dawn: In that case, with no real reason to warrant my change of attitude I now love you back. Ming: Can I steal a kiss. Dawn: Since we'll likely die tomorrow, yes, but you're still sleeping alone.
  7. I agree that it is more work. Then again locking a thread for a few spammers when other people were on topic seems to punish others unfairly, and discourage good on-topic conversations. Perhaps one of the reasons the board has so much spam lately is because there aren't enough good conversations to keep us occupied? If good conversation was encouraged, that alone might help cut down on spam. And locking a thread still allows spam to remain which inflates post count, and entertains people enough to continue to spam. Deleting those posts sends a messages to spammers.
  8. Actually I think Datsyuk is a really good player saturated with alot of talent around him. With a full offense driven though him, who knows what we would see.
  9. Especially with Indy 4 coming out. There is a script all parties like, and Spielburg says he is doing it right after Munich. It should be noted that unlike Lucas, Spielburg has been churning out titles left and right. Sure he only released three films as a director in the past two years, but he has countless producer projects he has been doing as well. And WotW was made in seemingly record time.
  10. Well, that would be abusing the function. Using it would be (for example, not to be taken literally) when you start a thread about your favourite game and some idiot keeps posting over and over how bad the game is. It adds nothing to the discussion and starts flame wars. In those cases I just wish the function was there, as I've had several of my threads closed because the idiot kept repeating the same thing over and over ad nauseum until a flame fest erupted. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I think the easiest solution to this is something I'd like to see the moderating staff do more often, and that is prune topics rather than lock them. Delete the offending posts, and leave the topic for those who were enjoying on-topic conversation.
  11. He was discussing the original Jade Empire which is on neither the PC or XBox 360. What are you talking about?
  12. I'm all for good stories. At the same time, Tetris doesn't need a story. It is possible to have a great game with no story.
  13. It should also be noted that Microsoft never released Gigaflop performance ratings of the XBox, so one can't really compare the two. Clock speeds on two completely different architecture CPU's means absolutely nothing. A 2.0 gHz G5 will trounce a 3.0 gHz Pentium 4.
  14. I'm guessing WoD since it seems to have the most nominations. We're running the old WoD since I don't know the new one well enough yet. I'm not opposed to non-Camarilla clans. I can easily handle that via story, as I will probably set the game in a city run by an Autarkis (meaning independent/no sect-ties) Prince with an old-school feudal feel to it. Anyone that respects his laws in the city are welcome, though he would obviously be more skeptical towards certain clans. Again, I am willing to listen to request for non-standard clans and bloodlines, but there needs to be a good storyline reasoning behind it. If you can tell me how said character concept will make the game better, I will likely approve it. Saying I want awesome powers is not a good reason. I will not however approve Baali or True Brujah. Heck most WoD players probably don't even know who they are, so it shouldn't be a big deal. If as a player you are not familiar with the world or setting, don't fret. That is actually the best way to play, as a recent embrace (recently made Vampire) who learns everything about the world in-character.
  15. You can also thumbnail a sig pic if you feel it won't shrink well and still be readable. It is just a suggestion. I also understand that on the issue with Nur, I am probably coming across as a jerk for calling someone one. I think taking a hardline stance on most anything is generally unpopular. However, all I am asking is that the forum rules be upheld. I hate censorship, and normally I am all about free speech. But this is a private forum and there are rules that need to be upheld here. Racism is not cool.
  16. If someone has no access to the old WoD books, then PM me. I'll get you detailed information for character creation. http://www.white-wolf.com/Images/Character...vampire_new.pdf There is the character sheet. If people are already familiar with Vamp then create characters with 50 freebie points and a max of 9th gen. Weird clans/bloodlines/concepts should be run by me for approval. I'm heading out of town for a few days, but I'll be back by Tuesday.
  17. Don't take the interwebs too seriously or Al Gore will uninvent the it.
  18. The KOTOR tool won't work for an XBox unless he has a modded XBox. Try gamefaqs.com
  19. The reviews I've seen from RPGDOT have been less than stellar.
  20. Oddly enough the football simulation itself is different between NCAA and Madden. Madden this year has the "field of vision" feature that NCAA doesn't have, and NCAA has better pass defenses. I know NCAA added home field advantage meter, and the hit stick last year. I don't know if Madden has those. NCAA also has a new feature where you do mini-games to establish a high school player, and then you get a dorm room for him in college and take him through his career, answering fan mail, the whole works.
  21. Yes, but instead of seven clans, there are 13. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_of_Darkness You should be able to hunt down some info there.
  22. I haven't played Bloodlines, but as I understand the actual mechanics of the game weren't really based on table-top mechanics. Behind the scenes, I don't think it was rolling for succeses. The character attributes, skills and disciplines had a basis in the WoD PnP game however. The mechanic is very simple. You take your Attribute and Skill (such as Dex + Brawl/Melee/Firearms/Dodge/Whatever) and roll both. A Dex of 3 and a Brawl of 2, equals 5 dice. You need a 7 normally for a success. The new WoD system says you always a 7, and modifiers just add or remove dice. I'm half tempted to use that newer rule. On the 5 dice, every dice that is a 7 or higher is a success. If you have an appropriate specialization (Desert Eagle pistols), then you can also reroll 10's for more successes possibly. Multiple successes add to the effect, such as bonus dice of damage. 1's take away successes. And you can spend a Willpower point for an automatic success. For contested rolls, the one with more successes wins. That's basically it.
  23. Independent, objective parties have declared the PS3 as being twice as powerful as the 360. Epiphany, you have been outright proven as a liar, and declared as such be several forum posters. Honestly, why do you keep coming around here?
  24. The PC version and XBox 360 version are supposed to launch at the same time. And NCAA 2006 rocks.
  25. New IPs. Battlefront was also the best selling Star Wars title of all time apparently, which shocked me, so we may see a Battlefront 3.
