I missed your post. I'll look for it in my email!

Does anyone else share my dislike of d20?
EnderAndrew replied to Jediphile's topic in Pen-and-Paper Gaming
Very good analogies. -
I don't think we are presented with enough opportunities in a given day to say victory jiggle.
-
I totally agree. There are three physical Disciplines geared specifically towards combat, and so far the players have not been taking them. Then again, none of the characters concepts have focused on combat in general, so combat against a group of combat-whore vampires would not be pretty. Then again as a group, you might be able to take out one combat-whore vampire. I try to establish a bit of a balance. And sometimes plots in the WoD tend to force non-violent solutions, as violence isn't viable. If you are up against clearly more powerful foes, then you need more creative or devious tactics to succeed.

I think dancing in KOTOR was more contrived.

When creating characters, I also urge players to look over which attributes and skills are used in conjunction with their displines. For instance, Dementation level 1 uses Charisma and Empathy. If you are buying that Discipline and want to use it, then you should probably invest points in Charisma and/or Empathy, etc. And I am trying to keep this thread mainly about actual details of the game. I don't mind questions or discussion, but the other thread is lengthy and a bit divergent.

KotoR 3: Ideas and Suggestions
EnderAndrew replied to Fionavar's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I too like reddish erotic drapes. KOTOR:3 might contain such things if Mira makes a return. -
Debate and the like for the game I will keep in this thread, and I will try to keep the other thread for confirmed details. We still need to decide on a schedule as that is quite important. I know we have over 8 players interested right now, but we need to know which players can all get together at the same time. I live in Central time (GMT -6) and I am online 8 hours a night at work from 11:30 PM to 8:00 AM. So late nights really work best for me, as I get to sit online with little to do. At home, my online time is more sporadic. I also have Thursdays and Fridays off, and might be able to handle a weekly game more during day or early evening hours on one of those two days.

First mini-session Kaftan's Prologue Servant of Eru's Prologue First Full Session The game will be played via chat, perhaps IRC. irc.psionics.net and #vamprpg As it stands right now the schedule is to meet on Fridays at 1700 (GMT -6) For convenience and considering various daylight savings time etc. that time is 2200 UTC The game is set in the World of Darkness version of Vegas, with an Autarkis Prince named Erik of Tribe Omaha. He is a Gangrel, and a former Camarilla member who seems disillusioned with Sect politics. He is a former Jannisary member, which is some odd semi-secret society in the Camarilla not many people know about, and was some front-line warrior against the Sabbat for years. His rules are pretty simple. Everyone follows the Masquerade, or else. This also extends to mean not doing stupid things to attract the attention of hunters or other supernaturals by say, killing random people. In fact, the Prince outright forbids anyone killing anyone in his town without his permission. He believes most problems can be solved without killing. Have a problem with a Hunter? Wipe their memories, fill them with disinformation and send them back to their families. But if you kill one, you'll get three new ones on your tail. Character creation follows standard rules except you get 50 freebies instead of 15. A Good Guide for Character Creation Character Sheet When creating a character, in addition to the character sheet, I really want to know what your motivations and goals are. Really think when choosing your Nature and Demeanor. The only two clans/bloodlines I outright forbid are Baali and True Brujah. Anything else depends on how good the concept is, and whether or not the story/game would be better with said concept in it. Also, no starting higher than 9th Gen. I actually held a Raelean Bible in my hands. A friend of mine found it, and we laughed unbearably hard for hours. It had random pictures and passages all over the place. Apparently Ghadi was a Raelean and everything. Also, Chakra points on your body allow you to transform into a spaceship if you know how. I'm not kidding.

I went to boot camp in San Diego, not Parris Island. In San Diego we climbed mountains, where as there are no mountains to climb in Parris Island. They taught us how to dress, and drink rum, not to dance.

KotoR 3: Ideas and Suggestions

Will the curtains match the drapes? -
Pearl Harbor was very much a Jerry Bruckheimer-esque Romance, and a blatant rip-off of Titantic. See, we are swung back on topic.
-
Not at the moment. No one has requested to play one, and I get the impression that right now most of the players haven't played WoD before. However if an experienced WoD player asked to play something else (say, like a Mage) I might allow it. I'd have a tough time working a Werewolf in the game (unless it was say...a Shadowlord), but I could work in a Wraith, Ghoul, Cathayan or Mage.

Duke 3D's engine was released as open-source, and some people have made ports as well. I have it running on my XBox.

If you have suggestions for areas of town and how you envision them in the WoD, then send me an email. The Neon Graveyard will likely be one of the last Sabbat hangouts in the city, while the Strip will likely be controlled by Giovanni and Setite interests. The Ventrue will likely have their hands in Freemont street. The Toreadors might have influence over the Cirque de Soliel, and the local art scene as well, such as the Las Vegas Academy. Henderson from what I saw is more of an industrial suburb, while places like Green Valley are rich suburbs. I don't know the city incredibly well. I lived off Desert Inn and Pecos, and I didn't get around the city much. Obviously I've seen all the touristy areas, but the rest of the city not so much. When I get more details hammered out, I will be starting a new thread centralizing all the game info. I will try to put a post together with some basic city info, but I'll wait to hear your suggestions.

I understand. I've been there.

I lived in Vegas for a while, but I'm no expert on the city. I haven't bought the Vegas by Night book, and I don't know what the city is supposed to be like in the official White Wolf meta-plot. I intend to cater Vegas specifically to our chronicle. I chose Vegas as a city that I can see having a strong indepedent/Anarch presence, it is a city well known even by European standards, it is high profile, and both the Camarilla and Sabbat would have an interest in it. I have the concept for the Prince set in stone, but some of the NPCs in the town will be hand-placed to suit the player characters. Right now the characters I've seen so far are not combat-oriented, and people are playing neonates, so a combat oriented game would equate to a lot of character death early on. In the WoD, there will always be more powerful and dangerous creatures out there. Real power comes from social machinations. I also urge players to be creative and fight on their own terms. I had several players complain to me in the Camarilla LARP chronicle that one of my players was unkillable, and that his Tremere was far too powerful. They felt it was a problem. I told them to get creative. All 3 Tremere clan displines require line of sight. Thaumaturgy can be quite powerful, but if you throw a trashcan over the Tremere's head, then you change the terms of combat. Understand that when I am running NPCs they will attempt to fight on their terms. If the players are smart, they will stick to what they are good at, and attempt to keep things on their terms.
