  2. got home a few hours ago after being away for about 2 weeks didn't really want to come back
  3. today was my flatmate's birthday and her parents came over and made us a ridiculously huge dinner and there was also cake and beer and now i have a food/beer baby tomorrow i'm going to go see my sister and pick up the birthday present she forgot to send me, then after that off to spend the weekend at my gf's place also need to sort out stuff for next week. totally forgot about my first band practice yesterday, so will need to try and fit it in somewhere
  4. oh i have no problem with Ned, i just don't see why people make such a big fuss about him maybe it's because they think he was the main character in the story, when in fact he was a very minor one
  5. i really don't see the big deal with Sean Bean being gone his character fulfilled his role in the overall story and as far as being an interesting actor to watch.... well he isn't he pretty much always plays the same type of character, so Ned Stark was nothing new
  6. fire emblem on gba (apparently the first released outside japan, but overall number 7 in the series) basic tactics game but with permanent death most characters can die without much consequence, but if one of the main 3 characters die it's game over it can be a bit of a risk trying to get them some experience without worrying about losing them

midnight oil - beds are burning someone ended up putting it on at the party last night and it's been stuck in my head ever since
  8. not a movie, but recently i finally got around to seeing what all the fuss was about with The Wire first season seemed okay, and just finished the 2nd season can't help but think the entire premise for the 2nd was really stupid - police captain gets grumpy at a guy for donating a window to a church
  9. oh archie my love, you know i'm always willing
  10. i haven't shaved for about a month, so the beard is back in full force it's nice and warm ^_^
  11. haven't been able to sleep since sunday not sure if it's the lack of sleep or the large amounts of coffee, but i've been feeling very twitchy
  12. agreed also the wirework was pretty shabby. someone would get hit, pause for a second, then fly through the air suddenly
  13. well it was an awesome 4 weeks, but my gf's holidays are now over i'd gotten so used to her quietly snuggled up on the couch behind me with a book, so i keep turning around to talk to her, but she's not there
  14. went and had lunch with my gf's grandparents was the first time meeting them, so was a bit wary, but they had a cute little maltese puppy that took a shining to me, and i soon forgot any feelings of apprehension
  15. lol. See I just can't believe anyone would read that. I hope you borrowed it from a friend or a library so at least it didn't cost you anything. i found it at the library if memory serves i'm another of these apparent heretics who aren't all that fond of Lord of the Rings i found it amusing that people complained about the lack of Tom Bombadil in the movies. he really adds nothing whatsoever to the overall plot. the only thing that comes of those chapters of irritating and nonsensical songs is that the rest of the hobbits get swords from the barrows. that's it
  16. as with many others, i found great distaste for the Dune prequels, especially the Butlerian Jihad series it seemed like it wanted to cram in the origins of every single group of people in the original books - the Fremen, Navigators, Suk Doctors, Swordmasters of Ginaz, Bene Gesserit, etc the Shanarra series by Terry Brooks started off pretty average, but then just got worse and worse with things like the Voyage of Jerle Shanarra. i also remember finding another series he'd done - The Word and the Void. it started in a modern day type setting but with demonic possession and stuff. but then somehow it leads into the Shanarra series and all of a sudden there are elves, trolls, dwarves, gnomes, etc
  17. green lantern meh
  18. i've read... four of them i think they were bad, but Zindell's was much, much worse
  19. i find Martin's writing infinitely better than the majority of fantasy novels i've read i hate leaving a series unfinished once i start, but the Ea Cycle by David Zindell was possibly the worst piece of rubbish i've even encountered. i'd rather read all of Salvatore's Drizzt books and Goodkind's Sword of Truth series again rather than finish Zindell's garbage
  20. i used to have a really annoying manager that would do stuff like that then i started taking notes of how often she was late and how long before she finally deigned to join us in the office couple of weeks later the bus broke down on the way to work, and when she came over to ask why i was 5mins late i turned around and asked her why she'd been 30mins late the day before, and 40mins the day before that, etc etc she soon shut up

    Books

currently re-reading the Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss borrowed it and the sequel off my sister. i read the first one a few years ago, so trying it out again before going on to the next one
  22. was listening to that the other day when we were in bed
  23. is good burpday so far. got made pancakes and now waiting for delcious pizza goodness to arrive
  24. love that song just got home from a few drinks at a friend's place. in 4 mins it is my birthday
  25. just got home from my grandmother's 90th birthday lunch/dinner thing it pretty much went as suspected. lots of people i'd either never met or hadn't seen since i was like 5 years old. the few relatives i did know either pretended not to know me or slimed there way over at one point to try and pretend they gave a ****, all the while with a glazed look in their eyes. one cousin in particular was laughingly bad. i saw her a few months ago when i popped into my uncles shop while on a road trip and she acted as if she'd never met me before. yet today she decided to come over and give me a hug and say how she hadn't seen me in a while. also getting told i looked like a gatecrasher was rather amusing. i'm glad to be seen as a black sheep of the family. none of them are worth knowing really
