  1. That's it, in a nutshell. Religion is a fact of life, there is no account of a human community that did not have any set of beliefs, and religion has many applications, one of which can be to mobilize masses of people towards a purpose. And that purpose can range from humane to hateful and vile. I think he means "politically correct".
  2. Sure, that's why I posted screenshots of what levels were fun and said "buffed" not "bugged" in the title. It was nice having to coordinate my characters and find the right succession of spells needed to bring Will down, and then the other defenses. I think this episode demonstrates both what's good and what's wrong with PoE's combat.
  3. I submitted another bug about Giacco some time ago, you can attack and kill him while he is in the shack with the rest of Kolsc' party without them caring I don't know if that's fixed yet, but I think it's not.
  4. I encountered this myself yesterday, but it was only when I reached the Torn Bannermen leader. I was feeling like "Bug or no bug, I'll kill all you bastards" (I'm RPing a Bleak Walker named "Gregor", wink) and with some work I was able to pull them in groups of 2-3 enemies at a time. As long as there was only one weapon&shield enemy, the bug was actually making combat a lot more interesting without it being impossible for a lvl 15 party on PotD. Not being apologetic, I actually liked the bugged combat after a while. You just have to buff your party members and then lower the bugged enemy's Will enough so that you can use it to lower his other defenses. Eventually I reached Crägholdt's tower and wiped the entrance with some Ancient Death Guards, some of them also with weapon and shield, without having rested after killing the final part of the mercenaries' last remaining group. And GM reached lvl15 just now. In the end it makes for a fun RPG story, which one of the reasons I play games like this. The irony is that it's all by accident. It wouldn't have been very memorable if it wasn't for the bug.
  5. Hi psyminki, 1. Try making fresh savegames (in new slots), delete or move old saves to a different directory, they have some effect on game's initial loading speed (up to the main menu). 2. Look for the IE mod, install it and use the options to disable autosaving. 3. If you have an ssd drive, install PoE there. That's all the advice I can think of. Strangely, I've never had a problem with slow loading times, but my machine is pretty fast.
  6. Hi Ronin, just curious, how do you do testing of things like that? I see on your screenshots that you force attack one party member with another, but do you do anything else to make testing easier? Create a custom party with characters with all 10s for attributes for example, or some stuff like that?
  7. 13 months after release? Really? Check out the description of the 4th level spell Confusion. The duration of the Confused affliction is shown in black and has no tooltip showing the base value, even though it's shown the way it's modified. I'd have thought such tings have been fixed long ago. I noticed this while working on the wiki actually. Please check all abilities' descriptions. I'm sure you have much faster ways to do it than I have. Edit: Wrong forum, please move to "Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support"
  8. Description: When the party enters the Abbey of the Fallen Moon and Maneha is in the party, the dialogue bubble appears on her portrait. The Player can talk to her. As soon as the party starts moving, the same conversation starts automatically again. Steps to reproduce: 1. Have Maneha in the party. 2. Enter the Abbey of the Fallen Moon area. 3. Notice the speech bubble on Maneha's portrait. 4. Talk to Maneha and go through the conversation. 5. Move the party anywhere in the same area. 6. Maneha initiates the same conversation with the player. Expected behavior: Maneha shouldn't initiate the conversation if the player has already had this conversation with her.
  9. Description: When you enter Ionni Brathr your journal is immediately updated with the information Ondra gives you when you advance a little towards the pool of water. Steps to reproduce: 1. Enter Ionni Brathr in Cayron's Scar. 2. The "Lair of the Eyeless" quest is updated. Expected behavior: The quest should be updated after you've finished talking with Ondra.
  10. I was just able to kill the Adra Dragon on PotD thanks to the fact that the Cape of the Master Mystic had turned me invisible and the invisibility wouldn't wear off. My party got killed with the dragon remaining at "Near Death". Since the dragon couldn't attack my character but my character could hit him, and the invisibility wouldn't wear off, and the dragon's health doesn't regenerate, I was able to just sit and watch as my character slashed the dragon to death. Well, the dragon is dead, so I guess that still counts I could give you a savegame, but after game load, the effect was not reproducible. I also have a savegame from before I started combat.
  11. 3.02 was released simultaneously on Steam and GOG so let's keep our fingers crossed.
  12. One question and one request: Question: Is it possible to run the mod without the launcher, just by replacing the Assembly.dll? Otherwise I'm losing GOG Galaxy's hours counter feature Request: Please remove that options toggle button from the center of the screen when Custom UI is enabled. It obstructs the view when I have my console log in the middle. Thanks!
  13. I'm using the IE mod to replace the default buttons with this texture which I made myself: However, once I updated the IE mod to work with version 3.01 of the game, I found that this button texture sprite doesn't match the buttons' positions anymore. A sprite with the correct positions isn't available anywhere currently - the IE mod's "vanilla - for modders" sprite is itself outdated. If a developer could provide me with a sprite with the UI elements in the correct positions, I'd be very happy. Thanks!
  14. Depends on the party, on where you are in the game with that party, on the encounter, and on everything else. I woulnd't say they are OP, as long as you play on PotD.
  15. After playing solo for I while, I always find it boring. The tactics you can use are pretty limited.
  16. I'd love to see a solo PotD playthrough with a Barbarian. No one seems to try it though.
  17. I completed TWM1 yesterday, but I haven't rested outside the White March areas yet. Should I hold off until patch 3.02? What's the chance that I'll have areas resetting too? (BTW, good thing I haven't started the Endless Paths yet).
  18. Hmmm... I don't believe I've ever heard the music for MWT. I think that's a complete coincidence, though I'd be curious to hear which one you mean! Now that I listened to it, I see I was wrong. "At The Gates" is based on one of PoE's wilderness themes (I think). At first it sounded really similar to that:
  19. BTW, Infinitron (I think) has gathered from the forums, prepared, and sent some questions to Eric Fenstermaker. The interview with him is posted on the RPG Codex site. It's pretty interesting.
  20. A question for Justin, or anyone else who might know - what is the melody in the Durgan's Battery area? I've heard it a long time ago in another great game, Medieval: Total War (the original MTW, not the disaster that was MTW2). It was the theme for winter season when playing as an European faction. Is it some original melody, and what's its name?
  21. There is no one on the web nowadays to make a guide like those Dan Simpson composed for the IE games. Quality information on PoE to the extent to which it exists on the Internet, is not systematized and is not guaranteed to be up to date, with the 10 or so patches since release. In-depth tactics advice and tips for specific encounters are nowhere to be found, except through digging through forums, and even then, you are reading advice which has been seen by a couple of hundred people at most, it hasn't been tested enough, hasn't been criticized enough, and has no chance to be improved. Yes, guides are needed.
  22. Another Beregan-related inconsistency. I got this before progressing the Battle of Yenwood Fields quest. I remind you that Beregan is actually dead, along with "just about everything that walked or crawled at one time or another" if you get the reference
