  1. I'm still wondering how Destiny's match making works. 9 times out of 10 I end up on the worst team possible, where over half the people on my team have horrible K/D ratios. It's not like my character has a high ranking, thus gets put with "low ranking" players. I'm still in the 290-297 range, and most players in the lobbies are 300+. I hold my own. My K/D is usually around 1 or slightly above, and I attempt the objectives of the map (ie. I usually lead my team or am close to the lead in flag captures). But it's soooooo frustrating being constantly placed on teams that are utter garbage. And it happens so much that I just don't get why.
  2. Destiny seems to really hate my Warlock character. I've been sitting for weeks at just under 300 Light, largely because no matter what I do no equipment or weapons ever drop for me with a 300+ score. Even in the Iron Banner, when you get high end drops, mine always suck for my Warlock. I think I've played close to 50 Iron Banner matches with my Warlock and haven't gotten a single 300+ drop. And then today I try my secondary character, the Hunter. In literally my second ever PvP match (Iron Banner), a 303 chest armor drops as a reward post-match. Then two matches later, a 315 ghost drops, and then a 310 artifact by match 8. How is that possible? My Hunter has gotten THREE 300+ items in under 10 games in Iron Banner, yet my main character who I spend 90% of my time on and have played dozens more with, hasn't gotten one.
  3. Funny enough after my post this afternoon I decided to play some more Iron Banner, wielding a shotgun. I cleaned up in the match, but did so in a cheap way. I'd basically just hide around corners, and even though they can see me on their radar, they figure I'm just going to try shooting them with a regular gun. They turn the corner and ... bam! ... shotgun to the face. It was also Team Control, so with my exotic auto rifle that chains lightning damage when multiple enemies are close to each other, I cleaned up on the other team whenever they'd all be trying to claim a flag.
  4. More Iron Banner in Destiny. I don't know how other PvP players are so efficient with shotguns. When they use them, it's like they walk up to you and kill you in one shot while you're trying to shoot them a million times. When I try to use shotguns, 80% of the time they kill me before I get close enough, 10% of the time I get off one shot but they kill me before I can shoot again, and 10% of the time I catch a lucky break and kill them. On the topic of equipment, I actually got a level 310 drop for my artifact slot. The bad news is my item there was already 304, so it was the last equipment slot I actually needed another 300+ drop. What's weirder still is the fact I've had FOUR item drops for that slot that were 300 or better. Yet, every other equipment slot is below 300. Frustrating trying to level up above 300 for my character.
  5. ^speaking of PvP, I ran into my first instance ever of lag affecting a game. Amazingly, I was actually leading the lobby in score when I noticed that everything just slowed down. I'd see an enemy coming at me, attempt to shoot at him, but notice my gun wasn't firing. Then he'd suddenly go from fifty feet away to right in front of me in a blink of an eye. Of course it just had to happen when I was actually doing well.
  6. "Experience the freedom to traverse and explore a planet-dense but seamless open-world galaxy, rich with discovery. " Haha yeah right. Open world, like DAI, more like it. An open world that's bare with the odd mineral to pick up and vast amounts of walking with nothing to do for 90% of a map. "This is the story of humanity's next chapter, and player choice throughout the game will ultimately determine out survival in the Andromeda Galaxy. " There's that buzzword again. Choice. Ultimately our choices won't matter by the end of the game because BioWare will decide to exercise it's "creative vision" like they did with the end of ME3.
  7. BioWare: "We promise you that all your decisions matter, but in the end they don't. And then we re-write the lore and ignore anything that happened in the previous game in future installments".
  8. Playing Destiny's MP mode makes me actually miss CoD's hardcore mode, where one or two shots kills the enemy. I swear I couldn't get a single kill today despite the fact 80% of the time I saw my opponent first, got off the first two shots that hit him, yet still could not kill him. Then he spots me, shoots me once or twice, and I'm dead. It's beyond frustrating. It's one thing if my opponent is constantly seeing me first and gets the first shot(s) in. But the majority of the time I've shot him two or three times before he even sees me, then he just turns and kills me. I can't find a gun that works. The auto rifles have the continuous fire I like, but do absolutely NO damage. The scout rifle has more damage, but it's like firing a gun from the wild west and so easy for him to dodge when the first couple of shots don't put him down. And the pulse rifle is sort of in between those two -- shoots too slow, but also doesn't pack a punch. I live or die based on my fusion rifle and my special powers.
  9. I don't think there's anything more boring and frustrating than quests such as looking for relic crystals in Destiny. You have to run around farming relic iron, but crystals don't spawn each time. So you run around for hours just hoping one does. I don't know why game designers do this sort of thing. What, exactly, is fun about this type of game feature? This isn't even grinding, because at least grinding you have a specific goal in mind that you can reach simply by doing activities. This requires luck more than anything.
  10. I can't seem to find my perfect gun in Destiny for multiplayer. The guns that shoot fast do very little damage, while the guns with heavy damage don't shoot quickly enough. It seems like when I use a low damage/high rate of fire gun, the opponent kills me because it takes too long to kill him even though I've been pelting him continuously with fire. On the flip side, if I use a higher damage but slow shooting gun, it seems he kills me before I'm able to fire the 3 or 4 shots needed to kill him. I live and die basically on my special powers. I can't seem to find a primary weapon that I feel comfortable using.
  11. Iron Banner tournament is back on in Destiny. It's a grind to achieve these bounties. I'm 13 primary kills and 6 special weapon kills away from one of the big bounties that gives out legendary marks. I'm also one top player award away from finishing another. Ironically, that will be harder than the first one for me since I just can't seem to do well in these matches.
  12. Maybe I'm missing something, but it seems like whenever I play a game of Rift in PvP (Destiny), all players on the losing side just seem to give up after the other team has scored two Rifts. For the first time in forever, I actually ended up on the dominant team (I actually lead the entire lobby in points after carrying the Rifts and igniting them twice). But the second time I carried the Rift, the other team didn't even bother to try and stop me. We were ahead at that time, but I didn't think it was insurmountable. Yet, I had a free run to their end because their guys were just busy trying to rack up kills elsewhere. I noticed the same thing happens when I'm on the losing side. If we go down by a Rift or two, my teammates just starting going for kills and I find myself the only one even trying to get us back in the game. It's weird. Maybe I missed the memo that after two Rifts, you just do a free-for-all to try and get kills. *shrugs*
  13. Finished the Taken King storyline with my secondary character so I can now access the patrol missions on the dreadnaught. It's weird how the final battle is much easier than a lot of the random encounters you face in the various other missions.
  14. If there's one major complaint I have about Destiny, it's that it doesn't have a decent in-game map. Like when you're patrolling one of the various "planets", there is no way for you to know where a certain area is via a map. I have to study the map of a planet before actually landing on the place, as that's the only time you can see an overland map of the place. But once you land, you've got to just wander or have a good memory from before you landed.
  15. The PvP modes for Destiny are so frustrating when I'm constantly being put on bad teams. Three games in a row, I had the highest score by far -- and I'm not exactly a good player, and three games in a row we got absolutely hammered because my teammates couldn't do a thing. I don't know how the game determines which player is on which team, but it seems to hate me. I always get stuck with the worst players in the lobby. (I'm only subjecting myself to this torment because of legendary marks and because a couple of quests require Crucible kill achievements)
  16. Why do so many of Obsidian's games' discussion sections get hosted on someone else's forums? I'd like to discuss the game, but don't feel like signing up to another forum just to do so.
  17. Destiny is getting frustrating because of my lack of progress toward raising my Warlock's level to 300. The loot drops never yield anything to raise my level at all, so I'm stuck in the 295-296 range. Might be time for the Division until Bungie does something about how difficult it is for a single player to reach 300+.
  18. Was kind of hoping the Division would have character classes, so you could try different styles of play. That way if you want to specialize in sniping, for instance, you'd have to take that class to earn whatever bonuses are associated with it.
  19. Can you create multiple characters, like Destiny? Or are you stuck with one character per account, sort of like CoD?
  20. That's because typically in Bethesda games, your companion is nothing but a butler/pack mule. They're generally awful in combat (best thing you can say about them is they act as bullet sponges to distract your enemy) and are good only for carrying the extra loot you can't carry.
  21. I always love the patches that break things that were perfectly fine prior to the patch. Had something similar happen with Dragon Age Inquisition. My game was stable on release, but they patched it to fix stuff and my game became laggy and buggy.
  22. Still Destiny. Got my Titan up to level 39. Only one more level to go before I can give him some of the good gear I've got for my other two characters, and replace all his crappy green and blue gear he's currently got equipped. After that, I might actually give the Division a go.
  23. Obsidian should add this edit feature as a reward tier for their next Kickstarter. "Want to be able to edit your post without anyone seeing you've done so? Pledge the $150 tier!"
  24. Decided to level up my Titan in Destiny. My Warlock and Hunter are both at level 40, but it's going to take a while to catch up with my Titan. He's around level 33. The gear is absolutely awful at that level. The best gear/equipment seem to be level 20, and then you don't seem to find any purple gear until you reach level 40. Right now I've got a green helmet (green!) equipped because it's got the best stats. Green!
  25. Those heroic vanguard strikes in Destiny are such a pain. The final boss fight that I just went through was so annoying. Spamming enemies, enclosed space, and one of the dudes who I was playing with up and quit after we failed the first attempt. It says recommended light level of 260+. More like you better be 300+ (which I'm not), because even the weakest enemy takes dozens of shots to kill and some of them can one or two-shot you.
