  1. It's like the name "Prince Xizor". I never knew how to pronounce Xizor.
  2. I have read all of the clone wars stuff so far (except for the two that were just released), and I must say that Cestus Deception was probably to best of the lot. I recommend it to everyone! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Jedi Trial is somewhat disappointing. I was hoping it would be based more on Anakin's trial to Knighthood, but he's scarcely in the book for the first half, and when he is, it's more a military role rather than what I figured a Jedi Trial would be.
  3. I was actually just kidding.... If I was an NHL player, I wouldn't have this POS computer that I have and would be spending my time spending my millions instead of posting on a message board too much. :D
  4. Interesting article. But I have to stop reading these things. More and more of the game's story are being let out before I get a chance to play for myself.
  5. I enjoy the EU for the most part. I feel it helps flesh out the SW universe, expanding on the great themes that the movies began. There are aspects of the EU that drive me nuts, such as the stupid cloned Emperor, the whole Callista fiasco, and a few others. But as a whole, I'm a fan of the EU and purchase the novels that are released.
  6. Is that what that was supposed to be?
  7. I agree with that. I've stated a few times that we're going to be getting XP for doing random, minor stuff just to get enough XP by the time the game is drawing to a conclusion and that's got me worried as well. All I'm saying is that the sentiment (not just you) that Obsidian has ALREADY made a mistake is a bit premature. I'd rather wait and see whether they can pull it off, despite my misgivings right now.
  8. But it doesn't make the system flawed. Which is what the consensus among those in this thread that are against the way Obsidian did things are saying.
  9. But my point is that it's too early for you to make assumptions about their revisions. I, myself, am not in favor of what they've done. But I'm not too arrogant to be stuck in my thinking, and will give them a wait-and-see approach to see if they handled it properly or not. And you missed my point about your reference to all those other revisions. My point is, I'm sure people at the time said "this is stupid" when they were made, but what are they to say now? Don't assume until all facts are available.
  10. That's sad, I mean the part about playing for the rangers <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Hey, I'd play for anyone to make millions of $ and marry a hot trophy wife that I'd normally have no shot at. :D
  11. I play for the New York Rangers in the NHL, but since we're locked out I've got a lot of free time that I spend on here. "
  12. You know this because you've played the game already? Or did you mean Bioware? Because until you actually PLAY Obsidian's game, all you're doing is making assumptions. On one hand you say that the D20 system is constantly revised and the revisions have proved to be effective, but on the other hand you say that Obsidian's revisions (yet to be seen, since the game isn't out) aren't effective. Perhaps you should wait and see how the game pans out before immediately deeming Obsidian's revisions to be lacking.
  13. Not a bad theory. But then again maybe Ajunta Pall's spirit was just going looney.
  14. The turret minigame was a regular complaint over the PC forums since it was too dificult unless we used the exploit of start fire when the game was loading. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Seriously? I've only got the PC version and after the very first time I got surprised by it (I figured it was just a cutscene and didn't bother firing until I was almost dead), I had no problems with them. I could usually finish them off before I even took 2 hits.
  15. I don't think they've confirmed one way or another what the cap is or if it's been eliminated entirely. Personally, I'd rather they kept the level cap from KOTOR1, especially considering the game is going to be about the same length. That means that we'll be getting experience points for pretty much everything we do in order to go higher than level 20.
  16. To be honest, if they did a different series, I'd prefer it to be exclusively non-Jedi in the same way and for the same reasons I'd rather they kept the KOTOR for Jedi. IMO, I don't see how a non-Jedi game would be a bad thing. There are other SW games that have been released that aren't about the Jedi. If the game has as good a story and characters as KOTOR1 did and as KOTOR2 so far seems to have, I don't think it'll scare too many people away if you can't play as a Jedi. On a side note, other than perhaps Fallout, is there any RPG out there that doesn't have a "magic" element to it? BG, NWN, IWD, etc. have the magic stuff powers and KOTOR has the Force. So I guess if there was a game with the protagonist not being a Jedi, then it'd have to be closer to the FO system of handling powers and weapons.
  17. Isn't that just the XBox version that's been sent to LA? I thought the article was discussing the PC version. Or am I thinking of a different article?
  18. On one hand, I'd kind of like the option to be a Jedi NOT be included, for the simple reason that adding that option would most likely mean the story would have to be "altered" to reflect the possibility the player chose to be a Jedi. On the other hand, I can see that it might get complaints from the masses if there weren't an option to be a Jedi. In that case, I'd want it implemented much like in KOTOR1 where you start as a regular class, but at a time in the story you are brought for Jedi training. Instead, this time you have the option of saying "screw it, I don't want to be a Jedi" and take off in your ship.
  19. I think it'd have to be set after RotJ. In the KOTOR days, and leading up to Episode III, the Jedi were still running rampant, and especially in the KOTOR days, it seems there were many dark Jedi and Sith. So it might be difficult to make a game set during that period without having the protaganist be a Jedi (hence why I believe that the KOTOR series MUST have the PC as a Jedi for the storyline to make sense). However, there are less Jedi after RotJ. If you follow the EU, even after Luke starts establishing a new Jedi Order, their numbers rank no more than 100 total. That number drops significantly after the Yuuzhan Vong war, meaning there's only probably between 40 and 50 left in the entire galaxy. Which, in turn, means that a story set in this time period with a non-Jedi protagonist would be much more feasible. Personally, I hope they (Lucasarts) allow a developer to make a game where it doesn't revolve around being a Jedi or playing as a Jedi. But I just don't want it to be part of the actual KOTOR series. I realize that might just be semantics, but I'd personally rather they kept the "KOTOR series" as it is, but make a different series (new name, etc.) based on a non-Jedi protagonist throughout the series.
  20. I'm not bored at all. I'm playing through some NWN user made modules right now, and by the time I'm done with those, it'll be close to KOTOR:TSL time. If I'm bored between then, I'll pick up Vampire: the Masquerade or something to tide me over.
  21. I know what you meant. That's why I made the Obsidian example. The toolset is, essentially, for the "developer" side of you, not the "gamer" side. When I used the toolset to change my party into non-Jedi, it wasn't to "cheat" or to make it easier. It was to play the game in a different way. Using the toolset for that purpose is no different than all those user-created modules for NWN out there.
  22. But then by your definition, Obsidian and anyone who plays their copy of TSL is "cheating" throughout the entire game, since they used the toolset from KOTOR1 to create this new experience.
  23. She's a bounty hunter. Wouldn't that be somewhat hypocritical of her to condemn you (the PC) for evil choices, when her entire background and lifestyle is based on bounty hunting?
  24. My definition of "cheating" is doing something to make the game easier or to get around something difficult or in your way. This isn't cheating. It's....altering....how you play the game. And it's actually not a "mod". It's an adapted toolset.
  25. hehe in an ironic twist, you can also use the toolset to change EVERYONE in your party into Jedi. I even switched Zaalbar into a Trandoshan and Mission into a black female republic soldier.
