  1. I beleive dexterity bonus to AC is already limited by the armor you wear.
  2. I don't think this would be a good idea either. They'd be giving up the XBox audience for the game and the sales from the original KOTOR on the XBox were VERY good. Besides which, not everyone is into multiplayer games so the expansion pack on the PC by itself would not sell that great. The resources and time would be better spent on making KOTOR3.
  3. From what I read from interviews, the multiplayer portion of the engine was pulled when the Aurora engine from NWN became the Odyssey engine for KOTOR. So not going to happen. But given how poorly done NWN was, this is a blessing. Gives them more time to focus on just making one gameplay aspect the best it could be.
  4. Not a big deal. Set up auto pause to pause immediately upon seeing the enemy. They don't get a single hit in before you are able to bring your weapons out.
  5. Drawing weapons automatically during combat would be fine. I am not sure I'd be a fan of automatically sheaving them after combat though. There should be something to be said for a Dark Jedi who decides to wield his lightsaber in full view of normal citizens outside combat as a means of intimidation.
  6. Yes it was overkill. I suspect it was part of their desire to make the game more cinematic. But I didn't buy the game to play a movie. I bought it to play a game.
  7. Well I admit I don't read comics anymore but I recall DC Comics restarted their continuity twice. I don't recall if either of those two examples was true in the latest post crisis one. And in answer to either of those two examples, they just don't need to be referenced. Doesn't mean they didn't happen but you don't need to reference it either so you don't contradict it. Like any other form of media, you can show the characters evolved.
  8. I've always been of the opinion that you can respect continuity AND tell a good story. It's a sign of a not good writer if he deliberately ignores prior continuity to tell his story.
  9. how bout a beginning cutscene, which introduces the game, a middle cutscene, the big plot twist, and an end cutscene, which is the end. That could work, depending on what the cutscene was, in the middle plot twist. I remember how Bastila was kidnapped in KOTOR1 and you had no control over it? I kind of like how Deus Ex handled things which I don't remember having too many cut scenes. When you were captured by the German, it was an impossible fight against him but you had the option to keep on fighting him until you were captured. You found out your brother or that friend of yours in UNATCO were still alive not through a cut scene either. I prefer game developers writing the storyline to directly involve the player rather than taking control away through a cut scene. Providing more choices during the storyline makes for a better game.
  10. I remember there were days where some people would have 50-75 posts in the day (myself included). The forum kind of settled down I guess once the game was announced (and pointless speculation ended) and now there isn't much coming out about the game. Give it a few months.
  11. Ultima V was a well done fine tuning of Ultima IV, adding lots of details to the game in so many ways to improve the original. In terms of influence though, I would say Ultima IV ranks above it. It was just such a change from Ultima III or even other RPGs of the time in its plot and approach. Ultima VII was the best of the Ultima series. After that, the EA purchase had gone through and affected everything Origin did from that time on, eventually ending up with Ultima no longer being a single player series and all of the older employees having left. I remember Ultima V worked better on the Commodore 128 than 64 because of the added memory. I don't beleive there was music when I booted in 64 mode for instance. I remember rubbing it in with a friend of mine who only had a 64.
  12. Okay on that one I'd agree. Beginning of game and end of game cutscenes work well. In between, it should be no cutscenes with the storyline told purely through the characters in the game and the player's actions. Cutscenes sometimes show things happening that I would not have done if I had controlled my character during that scene instead, for instead.
  13. Halo PC only? I never knew that. I guess since the Xbox technology came and it's hardware is similar to that of a PC, I guess Bungie decided to release it on the Xbox as well. No it's because Bungie were bought out by Microsoft who dictated to them to do the XBox version first. Although I also heard Bungie did Mac software so if the buyout never came perhaps a Mac version would have happened as well.
  14. I never heard Project Ego (Fable) as being a PC title and I was under the impression the reason Obi Wan was changed was because it sucked so since console versions of the title would sell more than PC versions they changed the game to be XBox only. I just can't see Microsoft pushing XBox only too far rather than XBox/PC. Afterall, PC games still get their OSs sold, especially if the game requires a new version of DirectX that is only available in the latest OS.
  15. I am sure Microsoft would still allow the game to be XBox/PC. They haven't done any strongarming on any games yet to make them XBox, not PC, to my knowledge. Halo PC was just delayed to focus on the XBox version first. The exclusives seem to be more game console exclusive rather than excluding PC versions.
  16. Don't need cutscenes. They take away time that could be spent on other aspects of the game, especially since they are usually not using the in game engine. Don't see a need. Advance the story through the characters in the stories, not through non interactive pretty cutscenes.
  17. The fact that they aren't changing much is a bit of a disappointment. The game really did need more skills. Break up Persuade into Bluff, Intimitade and Diplomacy for instance.
  18. It's still pretty early in the game's development and the planned release date is quite awhile away. Remember how the development of KOTOR was handled. Slowly but surely information was put up on the main Web site each week, showcasing a new planet or a NPC in the game. I suspect we'd get something similar here. Other info to release a little bit at a time would probably be Force Powers and Feats. Otherwise, I can't think of many questions rules wise or in general they haven't already answered. Although I wouldn't mind some more questions being answered along the lines of what they felt in the first game didn't work and needed to be changed in this game.
  19. I thought the original did have different dialogue responses based on if you had weapons out. But it shouldn't sheave your weapons automatically. You should choose to do it explicitly. Games shouldn't keep on doing more for you, removing the fun. The dialogue of the characters around you alone should be enough to make you sheave your weapons, making it fun to discover on your own. It can be made an option to automatically sheave weapons after combat I suppose.
  20. I am not certain it's the same as KOTOR2 in D20 but what they could do is say have some feats that you can take to offset using force powers in armor. Sort of like the Armored Arcana feats in IWD2. Sure if you take the feat you give up feats you can use for other force powers but I think that would balance this out a bit.
