How did KotOR fail?
The ends don't justify the means. Well maybe a little but it's intended to be an evil act.

E3
They'd be initially disappointed true but I am sure most take these rumors with a grain of salt anyway and will get over it.

How did KotOR fail?
Doubt it, they could have fixed a improved the classes for the PC release and they did not. There is little that can be done with SWKotOR having been released and all, heck HotU screws spellcasting classes of their well deserved epic spells and they dont even rethink of what they done and correct it. Asking on their forums will just lead to ... a)Being ignored. b)Having a reply on something that is not what was asked. c)Having a vague reply of they did it because its fun or something about playing D&D and working closely with WotC. I don't disagree with you based on my dealings with BioWare employees on their forums in the past. I never expected the PC release to improve the classes and would have been surprised if they did. One can always hope they listen to constructive feedback though. My guess was that if DelaWare is KOTOR2 then BioWare owns the engine and rules and Obsidian owns the storyline, quests, art, etc.

A plot suggestion
I would prefer there to be more than just two choices throughout the game but yes they can improve here. One thing that I think is that there may be light side or dark side characters (two choices) but at the same time you should have more choice on how to solve a puzzle or a quest than just choosing a light side or a dark side choice on how to solve a quest or a puzzle. I think limiting the solutions in that manner was one of the problems I had with the game. I enjoy KOTOR and think they did a good job but this is one area that can be improved upon. The pigeon holing or black and white aspect I didn't like.

The forums are back
No I was pretty sure it was just that they got more traffic than they expected and not that there was an announcement. Think of being forward thinking as well. If they received that much traffic without an announcement, how more will it spike when there is one. The upgrade made sense despite the setback.

Was Bastila really the main character?
I would prefer more an Icewind Dale or Temple of Elemental Evil or even Fallout 1 story where there is a bad guy and you are going to stop it but the storyline isn't really connected to you. You may have impact through your actions but no background or choices are forced upon you.

Was Bastila really the main character?
The main character was Revan. It just didn't become apparent until later. I don't see why an RPG should revolve around the main character as being so central to the story anyway. That's one flaw I think in BioWare's games.

A plot suggestion
Oh okay. In that case it's all good. The game wasn't made for the masses and catering to the masses leads to sales at the expense of creativity.

A plot suggestion
So don't play it. The huge amount of text in the game was a plus. That's what gave it its flavor. I didn't mind the combat too much as it wasn't the game's focus. 3 and 4 were also pluses. It wasn't the umpteenth Forgotten Realms game that game out since 1988. It was the first Planescape game which by definition is a strange setting. If there needs to be a game that 90% of all gamers can understand and play, that's BGDA. Planescape Torment was a different kind of game.

Who were your favorite characters in KotOR?
My favorite was my main character before he found it he was Revan.
-
How did KotOR fail?
It was a very linear game with not much choice. Two choices to solve some quests in contrived manner doesn't equal choice.

A plot suggestion
I think Int can be 0 which would be completely brain dead.

How did KotOR fail?
Agreed. I wanted to use Force Choke on Carth as soon as we left Taris. Instead I am even forced to keep in my party. People being forced into your party is not a good idea and one of the problems I had in the game.

How did KotOR fail?
In all honest, if Delaware is KOTOR2, I think it will be a mixed bag. Maybe you should get some sleep.
-
How did KotOR fail?
I suspect this would be the wrong forum to get the rules implementation to change. BioWare's KOTOR forums would probably be the best place. BioWare think they have a winning formula and would be unwilling to change unless they saw a lot of posts otherwise.
-
How did KotOR fail?
If Delaware is KOTOR2, my guess would be that the format and the balancing wouldn't change much. BioWare would be responsible for the engine and Obsidian responsible for the story and content. Hopefully, it would work better than the interaction beween BioWare and Floodgate did for SOTU. Now if Obsidian did a Star Wars game with the KOTOR engine but it wasn't KOTOR2 that might be a different story. Imagine a PST type game by MCA and the rest using the KOTOR engine.

How did KotOR fail?
I was a consular as well. It's a balancing thing to use vitality points for Force Powers since Jedi classes do generally outshine non Jedi classes. If anything, BioWare's implementation was MUCH too easy.
-
How did KotOR fail?
That's true. I was more interested in people's opinion of the D20 Star Wars system and it's use of vitality points (AKA hit points in D&D) when using Force Powers and why you think BioWare didn't use this system.
-
How did KotOR fail?
The implementation of Force Powers in Star Wars D20 uses skills (Force Choke and Force Lightning are both skills I think for instance) and feats and uses up Vitality Points each time you use a Force Power. There are also Wound Points on top of your VP and the Wound Points are just your constitution value I think. Would you prefer this system or BioWare's mana force powers system?

E3
At LucasArts booth or whomever their publisher is, assuming the game will be shown at E3 which it could be but no definitve statement of that has been said yet.

It's more the threads themselves then the number. Over time, the board will recover.

Sky. Water. Blue. Oh wait a minute. Water isn't blue is it Volourn.

More than a third of my posts disappeared. Oh well hope this doesn't happen again.

The what was wrong with "delaware I" thread
Well if Interplay wouldn't keep cancelling projects on them like Torn, BG3 and Fallout 3 we MAY have seen more nonlinear games from Black Isle. I imagine that FO3 would be somewhat nonlinear but we'll never know about the other two.
