  1. You made the original referance to the "sequels". I though you viewed it from a episode 1 on kind of view Hence: Aliens was set 57 years after Alien but again, if you want to go by the book definitions, there are 2 main ones i have found. To be a sequel, it has to either a) come after the events of a previous story (edit: not nessasarily right after, or 10 years after) or B ) continue the story. The SW movies fit both. what are you talking about? No. If you want to keep that opinion for yourself, fine, but thats not the way it is. That arguement is just ....no. The movies are canon, not extended universe. You notice the people that happens to often take these things just a bit to seriously? ok, explain it. I have clearly outlined my arguement above a post or three. By different universe, I meant the stories in each trilogy are a serial and overall stand separate from the other trilogy. Just the fact that there is a different of 40 years should imply that. Different characters meant different representation of the characters. Different emphasis because the first trilogy was more adult oriented. I never claimed the movies weren't 'canon'. By separate universe I meant what I wrote above and not that they weren't connected. Why explain why a bad sequel would ruin an original? You have your own opinion. Highlander 2 ruined the original Highlander movie. It took a story that was completed in the original movie and added on elements that didn't make sense. All three endings happened in Deus Ex 1 apparently (removing whatever choice the player did). In fact, Helios and JC Denton figure pretty prominently in the sequel it would seem and I think you can kill JC if you want.
  2. Inanimate items cannot use the Force. Which is all I'm suggesting as to why Vader didn't lose an arm in ESB. As for the "he lost it in RotJ", he was also weakened and at that time Luke had the upper hand, instead of desperately trying not to get his ass kicked in ESB (where he wasn't a full jedi when he took Vader on, as opposed to RotJ where he was) Or they just forgot this detail when they made Phantom Menace. If need be they'd retcon ESB to be your explanation I suppose but I doubt it was anything more than what I said.
  3. Yes they are Length of time between movies doesn't nessasaily mean thier not sequels. a la Aliens 1/2
  4. No because they weren't direct sequels. THere was 16 years separating them and because the new prequels should be considered as a universe all of its own. This trilogy is about the fall of Anakin and should work on its own.
  5. What Hades One said. Unless you want a spoiler. There was one quest I heard about that I think would ruin the original game for some people. Remember, all three endings of the first game supposedly happened.
  6. It seemed more like an RPG to me than an Adventure game. I guess then I'd wonder what your definition of Adventure game is. KOTOR seemed to me like NWN but with better graphics and the not suckyness part. The use of multiple companions and companion interaction added back the aspect of NWN I missed the most from BG2 as well. My definition of Adventure game is Syberia and The Longest Journey. Probably the only two really good Adventure games of the last few years.
  7. The exclusivity deal that Atari has I think in the end is hurting D&D so I agree about that point. That was a dumb business decision when Hasbro sold the Electronic Gaming Rights for D&D to Atari along with Hasbro Interactive. They should have kept control themselves.
  8. My problem with the first game's story was that it was a little too predictable and cliched. I'd prefer something more unique for the sequel. Perhaps if MCA is designer on it, it will be. Of course the game is more than just the story so overall the game was pretty good imho.
  9. Actually, there has been no indication given yet that if made KOTOR2 would be all new characters or not a direct sequel or that it would be a completely new storyline. There were two endings to the game. They could choose one, such as Revan and Bastila becoming the new Sith Lords, and run with it. In that case, you would play a new character this time, not Revan with amnesia.
  10. That's because it's based on the D20 rules. Besides, they aren't all that powerful, look at episode 2, the most Obi-wan got were two scars. And in ESB Vader took a hit to the shoulder and didn't lose any extremeties. Whereas in Attack of the Clones Anakin lost most of his arm, in ESB Luke lost his hand, in Phantom Menace Darth Maul was cut in two and Qui-Gon was killed, in ROTJ Vader lost his hand. Sounds pretty powerful. I am not certain that BioWare didn't take leeway with the Star Wars D20 rules there. They certainly changed several other things that I know about.
  11. No, BioWare's design decisions when developing the game hurt KOTOR.
  12. Even when stats are in the game, they are not enforced. When they are not in a game like DE they make no real difference, since like PS:T, you are playing a predetermined PC. I think you miss the point of what role playing vs. role playing really means. I think the use of stats enforces playing a character a certain way or at least prevents playing a character out of character as it suits the player's fancy. You are not playing you in the RPG. If the game doesn't enforce them, then that's bad game design because it should. An Int 6 player in a D&D game should be severely restricted for instance. DE, either one, had no role playing, not really.
  13. Sounds good to me. In fact, that would have been a better story for Revan's redemption than what happened in KOTOR1. FF4 shipped how long ago?
  14. More choice would have been nice. Your companions (if you control them they aren't NPCs ) can't be killed. It would have been nice if I could have decided to not have one of them join me or been able to kill them at any time myself (or have them leave my party permanently) or for that matter been able to initiate combat with any person in the game at any time. The game really showed that it was a console centric game (that was ported) in alot of ways.

  16. I read and watched a trailer. Looks interesting. One thing I did notice is that the game isn't pure first person. It looks like you can switch to third person as the trailer showed a female vampire using her powers in third person.
  17. The first KOTOR's saved games on the XBox were WAY too large. You couldn't even put it on a memory card. The size of all my saved games total was something like 130,000+ blocks. The first time I ever came close to running out of hard drive space on the XBox. It went down to as low as 9,000 blocks free before I realized it and deleted the older saved games. Hopefully, this will be optimized better in the sequel.
  18. Since the first game's title, Knights of the Old Republic, was taken from Tales of the Jedi Volume 1, the second game should follow the trend and call itself Dark Lords of the Sith You didn't really think BioWare made up the name did you? Of course the stories were different. MCA as lead designer of KOTOR2? I'd be there. It's not a given but more classes allowed for class creation, not being forced into being a Jedi necessarily and more skills and feats would be all good additions to the game.
  19. That means squat. And as I said earlier those are actually called   Of course I find it funny as to how when I said Jaesun wasn't at Interplay's forums you just claim "Riiiight" without answering my question as to what his alias was if he WAS there. HA! Good fun!
  20. You're absolutely correct. I don't need to point out how awesome I am every five seconds, because it's an indisputable fact. I'll just go back to being civil again then, matey. The person starting the thread is an Iplay forumite. The Iplay forum had thumbs up/down emoticons. Put two and two together, compadre. There is no "Jaesun" at Interplay's forums. I just went there and confirmed it. What is his/her Interplay alias? He is a regular at Mistress' Lair but that's different. Mistress' Lair has thumbs up and down icons as well of course as do other forums. I would say it's a pretty common emoticon to have. What's a problem of giving a suggestion of these forums to have one? Who cares if Interplay has them. I'd like to see them because Interplay does not have a trademark on having thumbs up or thumbs down icon. Hmm... The title of the forum is Suggestions. It appears at the moment to mean both future game suggestions and forum suggestions. Your opinion regardless is irrelevant.
  21. You can have cut scenes within the game's own engine. I thought KOTOR did this actually. im not sure what you mean since i havent played kotor. but if youre talking about scenes like the ones in gta3 where they are in engine and not as movies, then thats what im talking about. with engines that can do that then theres no need for movies anymore. Yes, I beleive that's what KOTOR does. "Cutscenes" using the game's engine. However, many of us don't like cutscenes even if they are in engine because they break the action and the game's feel. so what alternative way of furthering the story can you suggest? btw, cutscenes can also further the mood and involvement of the game if done right. The story is furthered by the actions of the player. No cutscenes needed.
  22. If caging Avellone gives us more games like PST, then put him back in his cage and flush the key.
