i'll rent K3 before i even think about buying it that's for sure.

Well i don't play DS if i don't like the ideology of the faction. e.g if the only way to be Dark is to become a zealot-servant of an evil god i would never do it. But generally i prefer playing as DS male <--> "lawful Evil" alignment.
-
i played Sith Assassin but if i had to choose again i would choose Sith Lord.

Los Wackos is right. Acting like a bully or like a spoiled crybaby (like anakin or :cough: Juhani) is the most pathetic form of DS. My DS rolemodel is Sidious: lying and manipulating everybody until you kill them! As you see there as many ways to be DS..... Playing as DS i enjoy the being evil and manipulative, the irony-spiced dialogue options and the combat with the dark-side powers (especially Force Drain). What i hate is the DS romance. You can not appreciate the DS roleplay if you don't enjoy it. The same can be said for LS. I find being LS soooo boring. No matter how you play, no matter what choice you make, in the end you will be a pathetic yesman who does what is "good" and "right" and your reward will be a pat on the back. Where are the "many ways to play LS"???

hell yes!! He is smart and DS (usually very rare)! The guy had a bright future from the very beginning and i would have seen that. I would certainly have an agenda of my own, though.

Grunker why do you prefer K2's scenario and not K1's? Did it have any twists? Was the exile an interesting character? I would vote 'no' to the above questions. I think that the exile is a "mysterious" character but not interesting. You begin knowing nothing about him but you end up pretty much the same way. If just the fact that he is an abnormal force user (and thus he cut himself off from the force) satisfied you then we have different opinions. I expected something more than that. Conclusion: K1 made me wanting for more. K2... didn't. P.S. Did you play DS or LS? I played DS and maybe i missed a few dialogues.

i played DS and i said that Revan was DS male. I encountered neither Bastila nor Carth. I fear that Bastila is not dead, though, because Kreia told me that she joined Revan in his quest.
-
i don't think i'd like a new character in K3. I think that 3 super-powerful force users is a little too much.

man this is RPG. You play whatever you want to play, you become whatever you want to become. If your choices don't have impact on the story then why play as DS or as female at all? Why bother choosing gender and side of the force? The good guys will win anyway. I don't think continuity is a mistake. On the contrary, i think that any sequel should respect any choice the previous title(s) offered whether it is "good" or "bad". Revan had 2 choices: to stay on his throne and rule the universe or to discover the ancient dark powers of the Sith race. If i were Revan i would have done the same choice. On the contrary i don't understand how a person could forgive Bastila and the Jedi fools who thought that they could manipulate the will of a Sith Lord and live to tell the tale!! So, you see that we have totally different perspectives and i believe that any sequel should satisfy us both.

Where the Endgame REALLY went wrong

--I don't remember enjoying a plot that didn't have a climax in the end. In K2 the climax was too..... subtle. --Kreia's goal is both ridiculous and unmotivated. (Reminder: Kreia = Main Boss) --Does anyone remember the ritual that your party fails to interrupt? Did anyone figure out how it fits with the plot? -
What's not to like about a KotOR "Prequel"?

One of things "we" really need to stop is this idea that your PC is a LIVING LEGEND. Yes, it helped kickstart the franchise but now that the franchise has a good deal of depth, we need PCs that are nobodies and who do not affect the EU storyline. For instance, we should NOT be given the chance to play Nomi Sunrider in a future RPG, IMO. However, I can definitely see playing someone who is apprenticed to Nomi as a padawan. This would allow the PC to be non-human and would not introduce the kind of continuity issues that we have to deal with now with Revan and the Exile. The protagonist's identity needs to be TOTALLY OPEN! And DS and LS paths should lead to much different destinations! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I don't think that the Exile is a living legend. He is an extraordinary person but certainly not a living legend. Revan is indeed "the center of the universe". I also don't think that the PC must be a nobody either. I don't like playing a character who is an obvious loser from day one. I don't know about you but between living legend and living loser i'll choose the first. -
I don't think that we know little about Revan. It's all in the Jedi Chronicles. Basically Revan had the luck of stumbling upon Malachor V and its dark powers. He immediately realized the planet's potential. The fact of its discovery was kept secret from the Jedi. Then he used the planet to defeat the Mandalorians and to turn the Jedi into loyal Sith. And that was done right under the Republic's nose!! Thus he managed to create a Sith empire literally from ZERO!!!!!!! He was also ruthless. That is the mark of a true leader. He must hesitate at nothing (especially if he is DS!). As for the assassination attempt i have to say that without Malak's intervention Bastila and her pathetic Jedi would be history. Of course Revan underestimated Malak at that point and his Force abilities didn't help him foresee the treason. But let's not forget that even the Empreror Sidious failed to "detect" Vader switching sides until it was too late. What can i say? Sh*t happens! As for Thrawn i have to say this: when something is wrong with your BODYGUARD you replace him. Thrawn knew, yet he didn't see the obvious... I have to agree, though, that Revan had the advantage of being a Force user himself. He didn't have to worry about assassination attempts. I also agree about Revan not having a "backup plan", although Thrawn's plan is not adequate (my clone is not ME, we have the same DNA). I think that the match ends in a draw. Well done to both of them, though only one still lives...

i don't think Aniki's assumption is correct. Bioware could have put homosexual relationships in K1....

Crate in the Sith Temple on Dxun

i also had the same problem (both * and / din't work). In the end i gave up. Good luck man. -
KOTOR 1 is by far the best game i have ever played. It doesn't take an extremely complex scenario to make a great game. KOTOR 2 let me down. The characters had more depth but i (and 99,9% of those who played it) immediately realized that Kreia was going to turn on me. And what of that ridiculous goal of hers to destroy the Force?! Oh, and the ending sucked. The fact that annoyed me the most though was that they left the game unfinished because they wanted to take the "christmas cash". They just wanted to sell something in a KOTOR2-named box and didn't respect the fans. And when the "content patch" idea came out, they nixed it!!! Total disrespect.. When i say "they" i mean LA. Their public relations are under the Force Crush right now... So the answer is no.
-
i agree. It certainly would piss me off. Besides what is the point in reading a book if you know the scenario beforehand?
-
perhaps it works best with a sith lord. I was a sith assassin and I didn't manage to turn anyone.

Most Intimidating Dark Lord of Kotor

sion. He has the "looks". as for Revan... i tried my best -
sith marauder whose vengeance swallows the pathetic jedi masters
-
the Exile is too powerful for his own good. He wields power in an abnormal way. The bonds that he creates with practically everything that moves make him very vulnerable.
-
juhani by far! She thought she was dark side and she thought that i was a foolish jedi trying to save her.... She's not thinking anymore.

TSL Restoration Project: Work in Progress
edu11 replied to Aurora's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
i think that obsidian should inform the guys at the restoration project about how the scenario was supposed to be. Not help them in making it, just outline the scenario. I believe that there are parts of the storyline that are known only by the obsidian writers. Don't expect anything from LA. They got the money and they don't give a f*** about anything. -
fair enough. Each sequel will make things tougher for the devs. As for the DS storyline, i think that Revan was attracted to a greater challenge than the conquest of a crumbling Republic. I mean.. in the DS ending Revan totally crushed the republic forces. With his infinite armada there was nothing in the galaxy left to oppose him. Thus, there was really no challenge in taking over the Republic. Obviously this war that lured Revan away offered something more. I think that KOTOR III should focus on that war and the player should assume the role of Revan once more.
-
ok so what about the guys that play DS (i am one of them)?? You're telling them that no matter what they do, their choices have no effect in the storyline because the good guys must always win!
-
Well done Swinny!! It is very good BUT, man, ease up on the "love" part. A DS Revan will look like an idiot!!
