"Error 403: You might not have permission to view this directory or page using the credentials you supplied." the site fell to the Dark Side..... -
Bored so who did you hate the most from both KotOR
edu11 replied to Kalfear's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Liked: The robots, Canderous, Visas, Kreia, Sion Hated: Bastila, Juhani, Carth, Mira, Disciple I didn't like the Exile very much due to the fact that he returned to face the Council's judgement. Too "valiant" for my tastes. -
Dark Side easier ? I don't think so.

playing DS is great! The powers are awesome (especially Force Drain and Life Drain) and i liked the dialogue options. Not much "stealth" though, as metadigital said. K1 was better in DS roleplaying IMHO. -

Hidden Kreia fall movie (ala Emperor/ROTJ style)
edu11 replied to Cathari's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Hmmm... I've played DS once, but got the same last-hour-or-two as a LSer. How did you get it? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> did you kill the Jedi Masters? Did Kreia give you the "you are a failure" speech? -
ok I am just saying my opinion here. Read and flame: 1. There is NO love! You feel it but it is not real. It is nature's way of saying "i want my DNA copied into a separate human being". Now everyone will say "no, man this is the reproduction instict. Love is something better and "bigger" than reproduction. Love is to care without expecting anything and blah blah blah....". Well this is our intelligence and "civilization" talking. Basically we still have reproduction but (since we like to think that we are civilized) our intelligence takes it, places it in a nice gift box and hands it back to us. The whole package is "love" but inside the box there is still the ancient feeling of reproduction. So basically life needs reproduction at all costs. This feeling changes like a chameleon and can takes the form of "noble" love, wild passion etc 2. So life is half reproduction. What is the other half? The other half is survival. This extends from eating food and finding shelter up to self defence. All people (more or less) have a "sixth" sense that warns them when something is wrong. The Force is life itself. It wants to expand (= force sensitive people to increase) and it gives you powers for self defence!

Woah, I disagree -- Padme was not the cause for Anakin's fall, and that is a very sexist thing to say. Anakin and his inablity to control his emotions caused his fall: this is shown in how he behaves with Padme, how he reacts to his mother's death, and in his willingness to follow Paplatine against his own better judgement. I think that it's funny that the strong, powerful, and schooled Jedi are seen as being incapable of handling such a common concept as love. Frankly, it is nothing more than a plot device to me, because it simply does not make sense any other way (and heaven knows that Lucas is fond of his plot hooks, logical or no). Cloris <{POST_SNAPBACK}> i didn't mean anything sexist. Anakin's and Padme's love for each other brought destruction for both of them. They didn't see it coming because love is a "good" feeling. You have to think as a Jedi Master/Leader and not as a Jedi Padawan. The Jedi Master knows himself and he can control his emotions. The Padawan is untrained. He lacks the ability to recognize the temptations that hinder his Jedi training as well as the will to resist them. So, how can the Padawans be trusted to control their feelings, especially the "good" ones? They cannot! They will fall to the Dark Side. As a Jedi Master you can't allow that to happen. Ignoring love is a small part of the Jedi philosophy. The Jedi avoid any emotion: common or unique, "good" or "bad". It is a strategy that helps logic prevail over emotion. I like it.

What type of clothes do you like on your PC?

Sith robes with hood and mask. -
The Jedi are right. They cannot rely on the fact that their apprentices will control their urges. The risk is too great. It doen't matter if the emotion is "good" (love) or "bad" (passion). If you feel, you have a weakness that can be used against you at any time. Just look at Anakin and Padme. Padme was the cause of Anakin's demise.

DS is worse. Believe me.

Loved KotOR2 Best RPG Ive played in last decade. Im an old RPG fan and all the stuff like fallout, FF series, New NWN, Balders Gate, ect never really appealed to me. The KotOR series was a very welcome return to story based RPGs for me (as was JE). My top 3 RPGs (in last 10 years) are: 1) KotOR2 2) KotOR 3) Jade Empire Parts one and two are actually very close in rankings for me, just part 2 gets the nod because it wasnt as predictable, found my group mates more interesting and enjoyable (biggest disappointment in K1 was I couldnt kill Carth, cause lightside or darkside, I was SICK TO DEATH of his never ending whining by the time we hit the planet below the Star Forge), and was slightly larger (with greater replay value) then part 1. JE could have been better then both but Bioware missed the boat by having influence only matter in love stories (other characters stories you learn by just speaking to them often), limit of one party npc traveling with you (rather then the 2 members we have in KotOR series), and game was far to small content wise (as I said, 20 hours to play and that includes watching all the cinematics and listening to the voices).. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> i only have two points for you to think: 1) you are actually comparing 2 complete games with one incomplete... 2) i had to drag Bastilla until the end (as DS) instead of slitting her throat for manipulating me. The scenario can not accomodate fully each and every one of us.

who will write the ending?
-
1) Fact: LA are a bunch of idiots. (i hate generalizing but this is an exception) 2) Things are simple. Do you want to do something "different"? Be my guest. If you succeed, you get the spoils (money, fame etc). If you screw up (like OE did), you get flamed.
-
That is what i believe as well. When Revan confronts Bastilla, she says every lie she can think in order to be spared.
-
Irrelevant? Did they use him/her by accident? lol. I believe that ethics was never in the Jedi's mind. They only wanted to exploit Revan for his/her knowledge of the Star Forge. That was it. If Revan didn't have a clue about the Star Forge he would be history. I accept the Jedi's efforts to manipulate Revan, but i don't agree with the argument that the Jedi spared Revan because of the goodness of their hearts.
-
What if they are trapped in a vicious cycle of acting in accordance with their reputation? Then perhaps it is possible that a person taken out of that behaviour pattern would be pleased: thankful to be able to live the life they wanted to live before they were taken hostage by their own mistakes. E.g. Performing an intervention on a heroine addict (assuming the ex-addict is one of those that really wants to live and not just exist in a living death until they stop breathing). Just a thought. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> i understand your thought but i believe that the "trapped" person should have the will to "free" himself. I don't think they asked Revan if he wanted to be "freed".
-
Amen. Some POVs do not even have right or wrong as options. They only have: successful move and unsuccessful move.
-
@Darth Somethingorother: This is getting nowhere. I say "wiped his personality", you say "strip away the corruption". @The Elite_elite: They should have killed Revan because he was a threat to them. There was no mercy in letting him live and i don't see why he should be merciful as well.
-
@jedipodo: No man, it wasn't. Bastilla's mission was to (lol) capture him. @Darth Somethingorother: That's why the Jedi are fools! They underestimated the power of the dark side. You can't manipulate the master of manipulation! The Jedi didn't erase his entire mind but they erased his personality! Is that ok with you? And about "showing him the light", they really didn't leave him much choice did they? I'd say they *blinded* him with the light. I have a question for you: remember in K1 in Karath's ship when your identity is revealed? Were you pissed with the Jedi once you found out the truth? Or did you want to shake their hands? I was pissed as hell..
-
The Jedi didn't give a damn about Revan. They kept him alive to locate the Star Forge and they wiped his personality so that they could control him. But "the will of a sith lord is not so easily manipulated"... Tough luck.
-
that makes two of us. Fanboy topics like these prove LA's strategy right. Grunker things are not that simple. It's not: capitalism = bend over. There is a term called "boycott" even though it has nothing to do with the term called "fanboy".
-
Well, just because you don't learn from experience doesn't mean everyone else won't. I will not buy the next Star Wars RPG (I don't buy SW FPS as they suck) until after I have confirmed and re-confirmed the quality through the game magazines and fora, and then re-confirmed a third time by renting it. Very valid points about the predictable narrative elements, I expect this won't change as there seems to be a determination by LA and their harem of developers to pay endless homage to the limited archetypes provided by the films. I don't find it quite as unpalatable, however: it is SW, after all. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> well said metadigital
