Dueling feat or Double Weapon feat?
Chemix replied to Zach Morris's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Why does everyone thing that the dual bladed weaponry idea was designed by lucas for the prequels? and furthermore why do people bash it so dang much. To my knowledge it could have been partialy based on the boe-staff, which is similar in use with the exception that it doesn't have blades and one can grab it just about anywhere they want. There probaly is some sort of dual bladed weaponry out there which is probaly more comparable, but I'm not completely sure. Dual bladed sabers in theory would be incredibly difficult to use much less master. A saber is a near wheightless object and the blade is completely wheightless, so it makes it extremely hard to use, hense why jedi are just about the only people capable of wielding them at all. Now think about the difficulty of weilding a lightsaber with 2 blades. KOTOR poorly portrayed things with making everything so simple and easy to use, just click a feat and there u go. But hey thats gaming for ya. Exar Kun was supposedly the first dark jedi ever to use a dual bladed lightsaber. Most jedi use a single saber most likely for the reason that it is so hard to master something like a dual bladed weapon. Particularly simply using it without lopping ur own head off in the process. Yoda & Duku focussed for years on single saber mastery and force mastery. Not to mention it would be rather hard for yoda to weild a dual bladed saber considering his small stature. There are advantages to a single blade yes, but a mastery of a dual bladed weapon will probaly be more deadly, theres more to think about when using a dual bladed weapon that a single bladed weapon, one has more range of movement and more agility. The dual bladed weapon has more over all range, and better defensive capabilities aswell as the obvious dual blades which can strike more often then just one. I use a dual bladed weapon because it looks cooler, it's more interesting, and I like the look of it. The above is all my opinions and veiws and no offense is intended -
If KotOR was made into a movie...

Mortal Combat 1, or Mortal Combat 2: Annihilation I can't remember annihilation 2 well so I can't remember the guy who played the bad guy at all, the bad guy of mortal combat doesn't seem to fit the part the appearance to well, none the less he'd be a good villanous character I think the story would need a little editing to make it better for a film, not just getting rid of planets, but adding more and furthermore better emotional content to the story. IE making the characters fit their personalities more, making carth less of a whiny pain in the neck and a quicker transition for bastila considering the run time of the film. -
The EU is what books, games, comics, whatever else that has been accepted by lucasfilm as cannon peices to the star wars universe. Bioware was lazy on their part and decided to make KOTOR alot like the starwars trillogy but with slightly different looking ships and other small things slightly changed, and I've heard the storyline resembles highly that of NWN, or was it BG... The 2d orientation throughout the entire game was very anoying, their was no z axis to anything but perhapse that doesn't matter for RPGs because combat comes down to stats and feats versus stats and feats rather then skill, but hey this is all my opinion and I'm derailing off topic. Bioware should have followed the cannon EU valley rather then going the lazy way about it, think about which is easier to make, a very basic valley shape with 2 giant tomb sort of structures, or a complex area with pits and hills and tombs shaped after the people they hold within them and giant temples. But this is all just my opinion based around my veiws

Carth- Kurt Russel, he plays the "guy who lost his son" part very well if u've seen him in stargate Yuthura- Angelina Jolie or however it's spelled Uthar- Patrick Stewart, if u have watched conspiracy theory u can see how good this guy can play a realy, realy evil guy Trask- Russel Crowe Malak- I haven't a clue on this one -
I think it has been said that the MSG, or Darth Ni (his supposed name), is NOT THE PC. It think, that underneath the dark robes is a blue flanel shirt and blue jeans, behind the mask is................................................... GEORGE LUCAS who has come to make selfish Prequel haters pay for their incessent whining! Actualy the person behind the mask is another human sith wanna be with some hidden superweapon to destroy the republic, but everybody knows that already.

Favorite KOTOR Woman (both games)
Chemix replied to Topaz Quasar's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
because we have seen the beautiful concept art of her, it looks a heck of alot better then bastila, and bastila was pretty cold and snobby for the first half of KOTOR, this character has a chance not to be like that. -
It has been said that the Atris character is seperate from the PC, she is featured in personal robes in every concept art picture and is in the box art with the aforementioned robes. Akari previously pointed out that the pc head that looks sorta like atris is not atris.

Favorite KOTOR Woman (both games)
Chemix replied to Topaz Quasar's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Atris, Bastila was too icy and cold, sure she had a warmer side but u had to realy realy work to get her past her denial and imaginery emotional detatchment, and right when u do what do u know she turns around and becomes just as she was up until the end when u can use romance to turn her back to the light. I prefer a more sincear straightforward good character, which Atris has the possibility of being. Not that I don't want a character with faults, just not huge faults and emotional detatchment nonsense that shouldn't have been so harshly implied in the game. That was slowly introduced over the thousands of years up til the prequels. Not to mention the original Atris concept art looks far more beautiful then the bastila character. -
HK-47: his personality is so dang funny Destroyer Droid/ Droideka: They look cool, they got sheilds, they got dual twin laser cannons and roll around like yo yos of doom except without the string and all that crap. R2-D2: Saves everybody in 4 films so far, episode 1 episode 2 episode 4 and 6.
-
Bastila was too cold and self absorbed for my tatses. Atris seems to have a lighter less contrasting image, which may reflect her personality. I'd expect her like every lightside person in KOTOR to say ur doing something wrong when ur picking on beggars and killing innocent people, it wouldn't make sense if someone LS just stood there and watced as u went around doing evil deeds. Atris is my desktop wallpaper aswell, not the battle scene wallpaper that makes her look almost as if she's tripping over something and falling, but the picture that shows her standing with her saber. Does anyone know where I can find the image that shows her standing there and darth ni on the other side of the image, I've been seeing it in avatars and come peoples sig banners but dunno where to find a large version. Lets hope this new Atris character is a warmer person then the icy denial filled bastila but hey this is all just my opinion and no offense is intended
-
Your force perception has missed the aforementioned, MAN HANDS! of Darth Ni.
-
It apears that Sion in the image is wearing sunglasses or something similar, also the character behind atris looks like some kind of new dark jedi trooper outfit.
-
dang it they canged the facial structure again, it's better then the promo facial structure, but it's still not as good looking as the original concept art, and why did they have to give her two sabers. Dang it, I was hoping for atris to use a saber like a katana rather then a combination of what obiwan's style and anakins style, the latter of which is a very poor representation of the dual sword fighting style. But this is all just my opinion, anybody notice that atris' outfit is remarkably similar to that of the librarian in episode 2? EDIT: Forgot to thank the thread poster for posting the data, thnx so much for the data and the scan of the image

I don't beleive in powers being black and white, good and evil. It's how you use them that matters. Had Dooku not had been able to re-direct lightning he would have been fried by yoda, and yoda could have simply absorbed the energy in the first place but he decided rather to have a go at electifying duku. And who is in better control of their emotions than yoda? Not that he is in complete total controle and void of corruption. He just didn't seem consumed by rage and hatred at the time. Also a similar beleif to there is no inheritly good or evil powers was used in the Jedi Academy game by Kyle. Even when I play through lightside, I usualy stock up on supposedly DS powers such as death feild. The LS/DS penalty is of little consequence realy. Also remember that most of the powers found in video games are simply game mechanics and aren't realy apart of the star wars universe. Lightning and similar abilities are almost impossible to attain much less master in the star wars universe. Which may be a reason why jedi don't use force powers in battles so much. Because unlike in a game where u can gain powers by clicking a button and there u go, they have to take years upon years to master the simplest of abilities such as push, pull, jump and others.

Do you want Star Wars RPG games to keep on coming?
Chemix replied to DSLuke's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I don't mind CRPGs, I'd just rather see more twitch based star wars games that are worth playing the SP, IE a decent storyline. Hopefuly commando will have something more then a half arse plot. But these are again all just my opinions, and no offense is intended, it's a poll and theres my choice. I'll probaly buy KOTOR 2 and KOTOR 3 if there is one just for the story cause thats one of the greatest qualities in SP based games, well actualy it's THE greatest quality in a SP based game with no MP like KOTOR. -
Do you want Star Wars RPG games to keep on coming?
Chemix replied to DSLuke's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
no more, I've had enough I'm not a big fan of CRPGS, I don't mind them aslong as they have a good story, but I'd rather play a so called "twitch" game where I can actualy decide how my character handles a lightsaber, left swing right swing, ect. ect. and where my character aims. I don't like having the comp do everything for me. I liked KOTOR because it had a good story and decent graphics, the former of the two was lacking in JKA. I don't mind games with leveling up though, all for it, just not the action que part which reduces skill and tactics to pre - planning the build u choose and which type of attacks u want ur character to go out and do for u. But thats just all my opinion and no offense is intended *prepares pre-emptive flame retardent suit* -
I realy like it, very nice

Bastila Shan vs Anakin Skywalker
Chemix replied to KOTORFanactic's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
First of all force storm and force lightning are extremely different powers, KOTOR force storm is a game mechanic extension of lightning that doesn't exist in starwars, the real force storm is a massive lightning force storm that can scourge the face of a planet and wipe out it's enhabitants, imagine a realy realy big powerful force enhanced huricane of doom that can tear people apart. Most of the powers in KOTOR are game mechanics just like the powers in the JK series, few have an actual equivilent in star wars. Vaders machinery was fried by force lightning in ROTJ. He chose his place among the sith and could not overcome his master and thus he was the aprentice. As for the actual topic, episode 1 episode 2 anakin would die a horrible fate even without KOTOR game mechanic powers, partialy due to battle meditation which drains the enemy and gives it to allies aswell as confuses the enemy and gives the ally extra clarity. As was said before, an army of just about any living moving thing with enough brains could be emporered to destroy the enemy, not that it alone assures a decise victory but it does help. Bastilla has mastered the dual bladed lightsaber something few could do, and thus could take on anakin easily. Episode 3 anakin/ darth vader would win easily with his great dueling skills and incredible connection to the force mopping the floor with bastila, and if he can use the ever ominous force storm then he could do it in a matter of seconds -
Jedi Powers: International Man of Mediclorians Sith Lord"And we will hold the republic ransom for *raises pinky to mouth* 1 MILLION credits Muahehehehehehehe" Sith Admiral"Um sir a million credits isn't worth all that much these days, Czerka corp alone makes 90 billion a year" Sith Lord"ohhh ok *nods* then we will hold the republic ransom for *raises pinky to mouth* 100 Billion credits" Stargate Wars Sith Lord *wearing odd egyption styled clothing*" I created the jedi order and now I will destroy it" Starwars: The search for more money Sith Lord "LUDICROUS SPEED, NOW!!!! *holds on to controle panel while ship accellerates* Oh my god, What have I done, my brains are going into my feet!!!! A Ra (Stargate the movie) type villan, mabey one of the founders of the jedi order who has somehow survived in the shadows living sort of like palpatine then rising up to crush the order he founded long ago for their defiance againts the great sith lords A Dr.Evil type villan, I demand 1 million credits, muhahhahaha, oh errr I mean 100 billion credits, muhaha ummm ha ha huh ha *cough* Malak already did the energizer bunny thing, but as he proved enerjedi batteries cannot save you from ur enebitable fate.

marketting costs for 2 trilogies rather then just one when the differences are minor would probaly outwheigh the profits, besides Lucas feels that his new version is more complete why would he want to release an incomplete version of his masterpeice. Jar Jar is rumored to be at the end "rejoicing" scene of ROTJ, though I doubt he lived all the way into that era and kept the same voice, he might have been killed as retribution for giving palpatine supreme power or he might have gone into the background.

it's the same freakin movie dang it, but with better FX and a few edits to tie it in with the prequels, the comment u quoted was a response to antagonist, he apears to hate all that is star wars, and george lucas. He owes the fans the fans made him what he is the fans made him famous this argument never holds up realy, and as for the weak argument point that must have not read the rest of my post Lucas is making what he beleives to be the finished product of his work, people over react when they see the old classic film they love fixed up and tied to new not so loved films. Atleast ur not dealing with B&B or else u would have anakin suddenly getting that dark armor in episode 3 with no complete explanation, then idmediately after they'd have an excuse to show a breastfeeding scene just to get some more attension, then they throw in...... Darth Maul with no mention of how he's back and everybody acts like it's normal in the film, u notice a few scenes where u can see the lines written on a peice of paper in front of the character. Then ofcourse there would be a lame arse scene where they land on a world equivilent to the wild west and han solo draws versus the boba fett and kills him, who then later returns in episode 5 with a vengance plot for shooting off his left trigger finger forcing him to use only 1 gun. Things would degenrate from this point till u see a huge crazy battle with an army of dark jedi dessed in reborn outfits all killing the jedi. Luke and Leia would apear as full adults on alderaan (which would look like a temperate forest with some cardboard structures) with a lame arsed seperation scene with tears and bad acting and not even the same actors. Okay I'm getting way way offtopic. Stating their opinion is fine but saying "OMG THIS SUCKS, DIE LUCAS" gets on ones nerves, do it in a calm manner, there are less matt lines in your favorite film, it's not the end of the world

Atris: Beatiful concept art, Terrible promos, a very uplifting light look Coming in a close second is Bastila with very good looking, but overall a very cold pale dark cold look which throws me off. Mira in third, not as good looking as the other two but has good qualities such as very skimpy clothing....

Palpatine was a genious manipulating ever event that occured to his favor, and if they didn't go to his favor he figured a way to twist the end results so it did. George isn't taking any guilt off anakin, because his mother was killed or he was a slave, he's showing how he came to the dark path. And it was palpatine who had his mother killed, manipulating the sand people, they would have no other reason to keep her alive just long enough for anakin to arrive and see her die. This enrages anakin and gives him a swift kick towards the darkside, he then slaughters the sand people. Lucas feels that his revisions make the trilogy more complete, like he wants it. Peter Jackson did not create LOTR, J.R.R. Tolkien did long before jackson was ever born, peter can no more take away the old films then he can completely rewrite LOTR. Tolkein's vision was completed with his books. Which have been turned into movies time and time again. Lucas however is not finished with his vision, and will keep fixing it until he finds it perfect. I don't defend lucas' silly decisions but I like starwars all the same, every film I have enjoyed. I don't think he owes anything to me for buying the tickets or the films, thats a rediculous argument that I have seen used very few times due to the fact that it doesn't hold up. Lucas created the star wars universe, if u don't like it ur not forced to watch it, the way u act I don't see a reason for u to even be on these boards, why are u here if u despise starwars I agree with hell kitties post about anakins apearance, though I don't see how it or the other version make him seem anything like he was posessed.

first of all from what I know, the love discouragement thing started a litttle after the war with exar kun. Due to the losses caused by jedi not being able to fight the ones they loved, IE Ulic killing his brother who refused to fight, however that did cause him to change his ways. The Jedi are manipulative in a sense, and have great fear, both contradict their laws, but their laws also contradict alot of things. They fear attatchment because it could cost lives, they fear passion because it could become rage, they fear other emotional attatchments because of vengance. And thus manipulation works it's way into the grand jedi order, and thus they try to use the young moldable mind of a child to better change their perspective to fit their veiws. As for EU, some books/comics are officialy accepted and becomes apart of "EU" whereas some does not. And when something becomes EU, it becomes cannon KOTOR's problems lied in: Full Forbidding of love which was implemented much later The darth title The technology Scale problems which were aparent everywhere ect. ect. These are all just my opinions/veiws though, all I know on the EU I've read on the starwars databanks, or at star wars boards like these. I've never actualy read any of the EU canon books
