Marofeto Liano, on the northwestern side. My understanding is that one of his dialogue options leads to an amulet (and no training), the other opens up skill training. Could you say which skill he trains you in so i cann add it to the main post? Edit ok found it (but cannot delete post/find delete button)

I have the same issue. Easiest way to reproduce: Go to a skill trainer (locations) and get training, then go to a tavern and retrain the Watcher. Boni like Beraths Blessing remain, but skill training is permanently removed. Edit: Has a bigger thread already, and obsidian acknowledged the bug -> here

If I mentioned that my main is Chanter- Skald, would I now be missing out if I made Tekehu a full druid? Cheers Multiple chants are also quite worthwile tactically, and his chanter class is quite good. But its not really that different from other chanters, so you wouldn't miss out (and get to experience the last two levels of druid which are unavailable to multiclass characters).

I'm thinking to do something similar but with 2 weapon fighting and dagger with modal on offhand. Would the two weapon fighting feat work with that buckler since it's treated like a weapon? Yes, two weapon fighting also reduces recovery time with this buckler (and main weapon), so you can benefit from both sword+shield style and two-weapon fighting at the same time.

1: Watershaper Druid: Free spell on each new power leves, water/frost spells are foe only (this is amazing!), loose fire/creature spells Stormspeaker Chanter: Free invocation on each new power level, loose summon invocations 2: no 3: yes ^^ Chanter chants are great, and so are invocations. Its also a renewable resource that never runs out. Druid high-level spells are good, but the selection is not very big and further reduced by the watershaper specialization.

Edit: Multiquote fails for some reason... "Thanks, love me some Dark Sun. 1st online rpg experience was neverwinter nights on a DS custom server focused on RPPVP and I played there right after reading my 1st set of Fantasy Novels, the Dark Sun's 1st 5. Wish that universe was still going Rikus and Sorak are some of my fav characters. (Named my pug Ryka after him)." -The Dark Sun novels actually got me into reading english (since only the first 3 novels were translated into my language iirc). Also really enjoyed them... "Is this possible without going Trickster?" -Sure! Mirror Image helps, but it is by no means necessary. You might get a few ripostes less, but the ones you DO get deal more damage. "And I guess I won't be jumping into the front line till mid lvl?" -Well, i was playing as a fighter with rogue skills, so front line from lvl 1 is certainly viable. Especially since you get to lvl 4 on tutorial island anyway... "Edit: I'm guessing you're going buckler and Sword?" -I was using sword and buckler for the longest time (Modwyr and "Tutilos Palm" buckler, the one that is also a melee weapon), but now i found a really amazing shield called "Cadhu Scalth". Adds -10%- Metahpysics/2 damage taken from all sources, and 3+Athletics/2 extra deflection. Really ups the toughness (but lowers damage output) "Edit: The only thing that saddens me about this build is absolutely not fault of yours. Eder, I love him, but two of the same class is tough to swallow, I'll do it my 1st playthrough though for sure. " -Yes, Edér is also a good candidate for the build. His stats are a little off and one cannot use his class specialization, but it works quite well. You can skill him as a pure rogue if you want to avoid overlap, or go for a different PC build of course and use Edér. "PS giving M 14 D 15 P 19 C/I/R 10" -Looks good to me, i have similar stats. "Hearth Orlan a shot and I'll trust the build and try Trickster. Armor and offhand early game?" -Buckler and Sword. You can get a unique blade called "Gladiator Sword" from the Temple dungeon on the island between Port Maje and Neketaka, adds bonus damage and +5 deflection if used with shield, i got it with level 5. Any armor works, even robes (faster recovery=more damage output, but also more damage taken due to overpenetration. But if you keep deflection high you get mostly grazes and misses).

Sent a PM asking about this as I'm super curious and have been rerolling since the game came out, my questions; Would you mind elaborating the build for me? Ie stat spread and ability choices in the early to mid levels? And possibly even weapon prof choices? I'm having a hard time piecing it together but this seems like the build for me. Is it front line right away or? Sent you a PM, but might also be interesting for others: Nice avatar, always happy to see Dark Sun fans I like to have high perception->accuracy for more hits and crits, and some resolve for deflection (which increases the chance to be missed->trigger riposte) + might for damage/healing. But the deflection from resolve is not that important compared to other sources imo, so 10 would be enough if you prefer more hitpoints (con) or faster action speed(dex). Still would recommend some resolve, since the build relies on enemies missing for riposte to trigger. Key levels are 7 (Rogue: Riposte), 10 (Rogue: Persistent Distraction), 13 (Fighter: Guardian Stance) and 16(Figher: Overbearing Guard). But the level 10+ abilities really just improve the stickyness, damage and riposte likelyhood, build idea works from level 7. Before that, its a fighter with some useful rogue abilities. F4: Into the Fray is helpful to pull stragglers into engagement without breaking engagement with your other targets. F4: confident aim is helpful in the beginning, but the better your accuracy the less it helps (less natural grazes to upgrade), so as soon as you get R10: persistent distraction i would use the respec option to remove it. F4 for the fighter stance asap. F4 or R4 for weapon&shield style really helps with early deflection. There is even a buckler that is also a melee weapon. The focus is on the fighter side (engagement/stickyness) using rogue mostly for improvements to damage and control. Applying the flanked condition solo (without requiring another char positioned appropriately) and to multiple engaged enemies at the same time is really a huge boon to the whole party, not just the the fighter/rogue himself. If your rogue side is a trickster, level 4 for mirror imaged will increase the ripostes you get at lvl 7 a lot, since it adds 30 deflection for 60 seconds. For weapon proficiencies, i would recommend normal swords (if devoted fighter), otherwise swords & maces (later sabers, rapiers, really and 1h weapon you like). Reason for swords: Many amazing weapons (including soulbound) are of this type. Reason for maces: good penetration, missing blunt damage type, interesting uniques. But if you find e.g. a great stiletto, you can still use the respec option in the tavern to gain the appropriate proficiency.

Fom a pure damage perspective scout is better. The alpha strike from stealth is far more devestating, and if you go for Edér fighter/rogue to apply flanked to all engaged (or flanked via spell), the damage output is so much better than the 10% she gains from Blightheart. However, I also prefer Geomancer for more versality (via spellbooks), more interesting to play imo...

Family Feud peaceful way out
pstone replied to pstone's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
Thank you! I restarted by now (didn't need too much time since i didn't reread all the conversations&lore), but hopefully it helps other players with the same problem. Don't restart the game. Live with the consequences. Part of being a Paladin is making tough choices and sometimes those choices don't always end the way you want them to. Cut your losses, learn from your mistakes and become a better Paladin for it. Use it as a catalyst for your character's development and let it shape the way they approach things in the future. It's not worth starting over just because you don't get a perfect outcome, sometimes the best stories are told through the mistakes our characters make. I'm normally all for choice and consquences, but i don't feel delaying a quest is a meaningful decisison (or decision at all) and i cannot act how i want in the consequences scenario anyway. The families seem to see the PC as some kind of loyal cartell soldier, but i am a paladin with no affiliation to them. I would certainly never help with a vault breakin, nor kill a family, for any reason. Certainly not because some idiot had the idea breaking into the enemy vault is a great idea. -
Riposte fighter/rogue build is quite viable with Edér. You can use small shields anyway (since modal is the only thing you get for proficiency, proficiency-specific fighter talents are weapon-only). There is a very early unique saber (Edit: sorry actually a sword, but still works well) for Eder (temple on island on the way to neketaka) that adds +5 deflection and +15% damage if used with a shield. Also, you get free extra weapon proficiencies every few levels. Also get sword+shield style for another 6 deflection (and shield/deflection to dex). Other things to consider: "Persistent Distraction" adds +1 engagement & makes engaged enemies "distracted" = -5 perception (better chance to miss -> riposted) and flanked (sneak attack! also better hit chance). Normally not that great for a rogue, but awesome for rogue/fighter. Add fighter "Guadian Stance" = autoattack+prone on disengagement, -5% damage per engaged and +3 max engagement. With "overbearing guard", those disengagement attacks will deal plenty of damage (+50%) and easily hit (+15acc). So engage up to 5 enemies for a very sticky Edér: Get tons of high damage sneak autoattack ripostes, or even higher damage sneak auto-attack knockdowns if they try to disengage.

Bcs streetfighter have +50% sneak and +50% recovery when he distracted (with modal blunderbuss) or bleeded (with self-dmg from monk), and +100% crit dmg when he have both of them. Without this, rogue have +30% sneak dmg, +50% mortal and +20% deep wounds. I think summary this is more than devoted's +2 pen, +25% crit dmg, +15% hit>crit convertion, +10% recovery (12 acc from monk not stackable with 10 acc from fighter stance). Also, keep in mind - dual firearm reload now bugged, and with blunted critical mod crit do lower dmg, than hit (bcs 25% penalty its 33.3%, and 25% bonus its 25% bonus). Good point, forgot about self-inflicted flanking due to distracted. Bloodies is more rare for me bc he would get healed by other party members unless i disable healing for that character (or disable ai completely) , but at least flanking is potentially always-on.

Trainers add +1 in two skills for the PC, cost is 3000cp So far: Granis' Training: Athletics & Survival (Palace in Serpent's Crown, Neketaka) Geirwald Calder's Training: History & Arcana (Palace Balcony in Serpent's Crown, Neketaka) Marc van der Bij's Training: Alchemy & Religion (The Sacret Stair, Neketaka) Kae's Training: Metaphysics & Stealth (Lifter's Refuge, Dunnage) Carelo's Training: Sleight of Hand & Diplomacy (Lifter's Refuge, Dunnage) Elias Zelen's Training: Mechanics & Explosives (The Kings Coffing, Dunnage) Co'el Marcellus Training: Bluff & Streetwise (Radiant Court, Dunnage) Marofeto Liano's Training: Insight & Intimidate (Docks, Sakuya) Warning: In dialogue make sure to first get training and only then the amulet! Can disable training option otherwise Are there any others?

Passives stack, actives don't. Stoic steel and inspired defenses are on the passive side of the tree, they stack with each other and everything else. Zealous endurance and gilded enmity are actives, so they'll stack with the passives but not with each other. I've never seen an attribute checked in dialogue; dialogue seems only to check skills. Scripted interactions, on the other hand, check both skills and attributes. I haven't seen resolve checked too much; might and perception are often checked. Regarding the number of attribute checks, per > might > res > int > dex = con (however thats just frequency, maybe those few con checks are very important)

Scrolls are usable by anyone with Arcana skill. Explosives and traps are certainly useful, but a bit expensive and the strong ones require investement in the skill. Rogue/Cipher is usually a glass cannon, however if you go trickster/cipher instead of the usual extermely glassy assassin/cipher, you can get decent defenses with mirror image for some durability and have lots of versality (jumping in and out of combat, illusion and cipher spells, rogue abilities). Rogue/fighter is a good tank build with some interesting options. Very mobile due to rogue invisiblity and disengagement, fighter abilities for control. But some hidden gems are in the passives. Rogue has passive "Riposte" that allow a full attack riposte on miss, and passive "Persistent Distraction" adds +1 engagement & makes engaged enemies "distracted" = -5 perception (better chance to miss) and flanked (sneak attack! also better hit chance). Fighter guadian stance = autoattack+prone on disengagement, -5% damage per engaged and +3 max engagement. With "overbearing guard", those disengagement attacks will deal plenty of damage (+50%) and easily hit (+15acc). So engage 5 enemies for a very sticky fighter and tons of high damage sneak autoattacks (and abilities with normal attacks). I like to make the rogue a trickster (bit less sneak attack, but mirror image is perfect for a tank)

Don't think i will pick my second class based on skillset, i will just put points there on level-up. Second class choice should be based on interesting class-specific dialogue and ability-use in dialogue (e.g. Water/Weather spell to quench fire, healing ability in dialoguer ect.). Paladin has lay on hands but otherwise not much in terms of abilities used in dialogues...

I have to restart the game and would like to know what you would consider the most interesting stats, class, ability and skill options from a story perspective ? I have enough blessings for skill bonus and stat bonus. Note i'm not looking for combat effectiveness at all (can be a cripple since i have a whole party), but for extra lines, lore and insights. Pretty sure i will play dual class with one part Cipher (has plenty of class checks), and put enough points into Insight and Perception to make the solo checks, but other than that idk yet. Many checks and skills can be supplied by the party, but quite a few are for the main character only...

Family Feud peaceful way out
pstone replied to pstone's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
Thanks everyone, i guess i will have to restart the game some time in the future. -
Greetings, does anybody have a list of timed quests? Specifically timed quests that go south if you wait to long / do other quests. Would like to avoid restarting the game (again). 1) "A sinking feeling" (no skull) fedex quest (listen in on conversation) - wait too long after listening and the diplomatic option in the much harder (2 skulls) quest "Family Feud" is no longer available (since the son starts vault breakin on his own) Any other?
