Some people should actually play D&D first before making silly stuff up. It is VERY easy to play a campaign in D&D includiong the FR setting without combat. Not hard at all, in fact.

I like Rhomal very much cause in many ways remind sme of me - he has no problem stating his opinion. However, there is no doubt that he has an agenda. Thata genda is to push NWN2 even that means putting down any of its competition espicially those games that use the same engine hence why he likes to bash the Witcher and he strives to insult BIO at all times mostly because he knows no matter how good NWN2 is (and I think it'll be better than NWN1 despite some misgivings); but in the end it will just be a sequel to a BIO game. It's cool! btw, Good finds.

"There are some games I just get fixated on like Bioware's jade Empire. Played that through lmore than a hundred times." WOWSERS! Seriously, I ahve never played any game outside the silly little games when I wa skid more than times. Even my all time favorites like BG2, FO2, or FF8 I only played 3 times each. Started playing a 4th, and simply got bored. In fact, I have only payed two game frequently after 3 months of buying it. One is NWN (which I ahve completeled the OC 3 times now - 1ce in MP), and the other is MVP Baseball 2005. Other than that, no. The games simply get stale. I could only play and complete either KOTOR once each. WOWSERS!!!

Oh come on. Lolts of people post negative things about Bioware, and their games. And, 99% of them are untocuhed. It's those who who are very agreesie who get introuble in manyc ase. Though, like any other message baord including this one, the mods aren't perfect. As for The Witchers, it looks to be a fun game; but NWN2 will completelyc rush it s it's more my type of game.

"Anyhoo, I can here (D)ick Pound gloating right now. It turns out a player who was invited to try out for the American Olympic team failed his drug test." Yeah. 1 out of 100. That is 1%. Far off from the 33% he suggested. If anything this disproves his little theory.

"Though I was tempted to make some unique loot for my character then export it into the main game" I like the OC... but, I think there is more than enough ph@t lewt to satisfy your powergaming hunger... I would think... Or is there?
-
You most certainly can do that. In fact, you can make ones that put the BG companions to shame. Many mods do thisincluding the (ones) I'm slowlyyyyyy making....

"And just like the Palestinians, his country is being taken over by intruders who want more ressources." Oh really? Last I checked, Bin Lauden is Saudi NOT Iraqi or Afghanistan. On top of this, he sure murders alot of Iraqis and Afghanistanis. His war is all about power, and domination.

It looks to be a good Action RPG-Adventure. Definitely not a full fledge RPG that's for sure.

"The human rights group based its conclusions mostly on statements by senior administration officials in the past year," Yeah, and my god, they bring hard evidence to the table!
-
"Yes, this truce would be an excellent chance for Al-Qaida to restore itself, and repair any damage done in Afghanistan and Iraq." Yup. That's exactly it. It's the same tataic the Palestine terrorist group like Hamas use against Isreal. They get their butts wupped, call a truce, then come back with a vengeance. The cycle repeats itself. Afterall, even these organizations have to replace dead members from time to time. Takes a while to brainwash people.

But, it's not vague. In the familiar section, it talks about Class, and Character levels. I hope you know the difference. When it discusses familiar hit points, it specifically states half the Master's hit points. That's as clear as it's gonna get. You may disagree with the rule, and change it; but then that's no longer a base rule and is a house rule. That's cool; but it's kinda hard to discuss house rules in the way we are.

"It's an unbalanced class, nothing a DM could do without cheating." Nonsense. There are many ways to deal with clerics (or any class) without cheating or nerfing the rules.
-
"I'm playing a cleric in a game using 3.5 rules right now and he's near invulnerable. It's amazing." DM sucks.
-
Thac0 = To Hit Armour Class Zero
-
"clerics are too powerful in 3.5, they shouldn't be able to fight and cast 9th level spells." That's nonsense. "And the old AC system and thac0 was near indecipherable." WOW! I musta been a genius (yeah, right!) to figure it out when I was 10 within minutes. Same with all my friends, or all those other freaks I played 2E with. WOWSERS!

FR is awesome. Best setting in DnD. Dark Sun and its fakeness is the worse. Ooo.. Look at us! We're so bad with our fakness. Oo.. When a setting relies on being different for the sake of different it becomes lame. Still, as always, a setting is only as good as the Dm or players who use it. Period.

"I was at a press showing for Dungeons & Dragons Online: Stormreach yesterday, and at first I thought it would be a game that Hades would like. It's a MMORPG with a level 10 level cap! It takes a looong time to level in that game. Also, the world is consistant for every player, meaning that if you blow up a bridge with a fireball (which is entirely possible), the bridge will stay blown up forever (not sure how that works, but it has to do with instancing)! That's very uncommon for a MMORPG. Also, the game heavily favours groups. There's no soloing in DDO: Stormreach. Another thing that's bound to suit old PnP players is that there's an automated gamemaster talking whenever there's something special to be told. For instance, if you're a thief and your Spot skill is high enough and you happen to find some tracks, the gamemaster will say something like "Heavy footprints in the moist sludge on the floor leads off in the direction of a moldy brick wall, where they come to an abrupt halt", but he says that only to the thief and not to the rest of the group. Then it's up to the thief to inform the rest of the group about what his skills have told him, if he chooses to. I liked the gamemaster system, it really gave the game some unique atmosphere." This makes it sound very good. That said, everything else I've ehard about the game makes it sound sucky. Plus, I avoid paying for online play. "By the way, what the hell is a construct? I made a Construct fighter and boy did I kick ass. I felt totally overpowered as I could kill most anything in one hit" A new Eberron race.

"How is it that NWNs combat system works again? It has some kind of pseudo round/phase thingie doesnt it?" It has rounds. Works just like in pnp except there is no waiting in between turns. You simply go when it is turn. Bets way to test this is to cast two spells right aftet the other. After your first spell is cast, your character will wait a few seconds before it starts casting the second. "beofre even reading the last three pages of this post, I'll make it clear I'm talking about 3.5 rules. I no longer own a 3.0 PHB. Everything I'm posting is in the 3.5 PHB" Then how can you compare how NWN familars are overpwoered compared to pnp ones? Afterall, that's how this disucssion got started. At least I wa shonest, and stated quite clearly that I was referring to 3.0. That said, accoridng to Deraldin's facts, even in 3.5, a familiar can end up having more than 100hp. That said, it seems that in 3.5 an Animal Companion is very uber munchkinized. "What I like to know is can we double up on metamagic feats. Empowered Maximized Fireball is a must. I must I tell you!" That would be cool.

"And while the Broncos have a great home record, their playoff record isn't much to be proud of." Really? Last i checked, their record is 1-0 in the play-offs. And, they defeated the Defending Cahmpions. The Steelers, on the other hand, beta a team known to fial in the play-offs... Hmm.. I wodner which feat is more impressive espicially considering the Broncos won quite handily. I hope the Steelers win though. But, I wouldn't count on it. And, yeah, the Steelers deserved to win that game. They simply outplayed Indy though it was close (one horrible call, and a great forced fumble made it possible for Indy to tie/win).

"Off topic, but holy crap do you play NWN a lot Volo." Yes, yes I do. "A red dragon is not weak. It would seem that the game is flawed ithen if a familiar can survive." Not really. As I have been trying to point out through this entire thread, familiars are no longer the weaklings of 2E. In 3E (and 3.5) they ar every useful at all levels. That said, breath weapon or no, an ancient red dragon would completely oblireate a familiar. Or animal companion. Or fighter. Or cleric. Or mage. or rogue. You get the idea. LOL Just because the familiar cna survive one aspect of the red dragon offensive repetoire doesn't mean it actually has a chance. P.S. NWN RULES ALL! NWN2 SHOULD RULE ALL X2!!! edit: Euix, no, it's a Base Class in 3.5 supposedly.
-
No.

"That is what evasion is for. They get it for free you know." In fact, they have improved invasion. I wish people knew what they were discussing before discussing it. Though, in NWN, most familiars don't have (improved) invasion yet people have the gall to claim that they're soooo overpowered comapred to their pnp counterparts. Heck, a familiar can survive a red dragon breathing on them. R00fles!

"Well, with it the baddies actually goes on patrol in the area, opens doors, goes where there are sounds being heard, that sort of thing. Stuff that didn't happen in the baseline NWN." Thats' true. Very awesome stuff; but that's a good amount of work on mr. K's part. Dopn't expect the AI in base NWN2 to be THAT advanced from the start. LOL Alanshu for the vcitory!
