Kaftan: Nice snow job. :joy:

Chicago Bears QB sucked again. As did the Ginats. Something those two teams have in common how it seems though the Giants loss was a team loss. LOL I REALLY wish the Giants would fire THE WORST COACH EVER tm. He's only made one smart move as coach. I HATES him!

NWN2 is FAR from perfect imo; but even with me not ever playing Oblivion; NWN2 is 1 million times better than any game in that crap series. Game over.
-
"If all you really wanted to do was *argue*, not *persuade*, that NWN1 > NWN2, then I am done with you, and so will everyone else, shortly." Oh, come on. This is the second thread on this issue and Rift didn't even start it. Obviously, very few here are 'done with him'. Heck, Cant has evn gone so far as ordering ME which I game I prefer when I stated no such thing. And, no, Cant, you would NOT be a tester for me. "So while I understand what you are saying, I'm not entirely sure I see where I was so outrageous and off the wall." The problems comes when instead of discussing just his points, people including yourself land up discussing Rift himself. He's not important. His points are. I agree with some. I disagree with some. That's life. *shrug*

"Oh Volo, you know NWN will always be your #1 You've put too much time into it to have it not be." Maybe. Maybe not. Maybe 5 years from now, I've had played NWN2 just as much. I just don't know. "Speaking of which, how is the mod coming?" Oh SNAP! More seriously, slow.
-
"You prefer NWN." Really? Mayhaps you are posting out of turn there. Who said I 'prefer' NWN1 over NWN2? I surely didn't. At least not yet. I have yet to make that determination either way. But, hey, keep putting words into my posts that NEVER existed. It's your preogerative.

"Lots of people? That's an exaggeration. It's probably about 1%." 99% of made up numbers are wrong.

"So far, I have had roughly as much freedom in NWN2 as I did in NWN1." Except, factually, that's not true. It's not even opinion here. You cna attack pretty much everyone in NWN1 OC. Outside of the main characters, nobody is untouchable. Heck, you can even attack Aribeth though she just ignores you (which is also a bad thing). You also have more freedom within each module and area. In NWN2 OC, you have a pretty much straight linear line to go. In NWN1 OC, you pretty much free reign to approach the area. It's not as boxed in. btw, This is a problem with the NWN2 OC; not NWN2 the total apckage as it'll be up to individual modders to deal with it the way hey wnat. I said it before, I'll sya it again. NWN1 does many things better than NWN2. NWN2 does many things better than NWN1. *shrug* Sadly, I wish the Obsidian fanboys would follow Obsidian's lead as Obsidian seems to have handled most of the legit criticism solidly. LONG LIVE NWN SERIES!!! :joy: :joy: :joy:

"Actually, Michael Moorcok experimented with non-linear fiction in the 60s I think. I've read some of it and it's incomprehensible mess. Masterfully written, but still a mess. So I agree with the notion that no one in their right mind wants an actual non-linear plot in a game." Books are not games.

People call Soul a troll yet it tends to be the people on the other side of this argument starting the name calling. Heck, he didn't even start this thread sequel. I agree with Soul on some of his points, and disagree on others; but quite frankly he's one of the most polite posters I've never seen on these boards. "Finally, the reason I really think you're not very bright, is because you keep declaring your opinion as unbiased truth, and also, that you seem to think that a bunch of angry people posting in a message board are the voice of the majority." Hypocrite... considering you wrote the following in your same message: "Because NWN1's OC was badly written, badly voice acted, and badly designed." So... whose posting their opinion as fact now? This is what i say to you Pidesco: Finally, the reason I really think you're not very bright, is because you keep declaring your opinion as unbiased truth, and also, that you seem to think that a bunch of angry people posting in a message board are the voice of the majority.

"That's because D&D is built to be a monty-haul (see the various loot tables in the DMG for proof); if you don't it gets unbalanced." It's not a D&D problem. Pretty much all CRPGs are monty haul. Wizardry, M&M, FO, you name it. "Actually, I disagree. I'm pretty sure I remember reading posts from the developers that stated the game(s) were created and then ported to the PC. I may be wrong, but I don't think so." KOTOR came out on console first; but it wasn't a port. It was designed with both in mind and at the same time. "Regardless of whether or not they were ported, the fact is that consoles don't have as much potential as PC's." That's not a fact. Sorry. It's a myth started by PC fanboys.

Volourn's Wowwy Journey With NWN2:Spoiler Edition
Volourn replied to Volourn's topic in Computer and Console
"But would you be able to hire one on the spur of the moment?" Sure. I mean Bishop basically conviently hung around your Uncle's inn just so he'd be available for when you 'needed' the map update. Heck, I'm sure Elanee knows a ranger or two who would know the Luskan area well. And, you could also have it so if the player decides to go out on their own to track Shandra, they could have one of those world map where you bump into a ranger who notices that you seem lost. Or better yet, if you refused Bishop's help.. he could still go ahead and you meet him and he gives you the info you need. Afterall, the whole reasoning behind him helping is he owes your uncle a favor.. so, he might do what needs to be done in spite of you refusing his party membership. So many possibilities that likely wouldn't ask for all that much scripting. -
Volourn's Wowwy Journey With NWN2:Spoiler Edition
Volourn replied to Volourn's topic in Computer and Console
I'm sure other npcs cna be found in NW that 'knew Luskan like the back of their hand'. heck, I'm sure the city of NW employs them. LOL -
Um. BG, and every other CRPG I have ever played has been monty haul. You don't need epic levels for monty haul to occur.

Jagr + Lundqvist = Awesome! :joy:

Yeha, I know. It was 'funny'; but kinda of off. Ah well. Not a biggy compared to other forced things. LOL

Volourn's Wowwy Journey With NWN2:Spoiler Edition
Volourn replied to Volourn's topic in Computer and Console
What's even wors ehere it that the 'excuse' we were given for forced npcs was that it was mandatory for the story to work. Really? How is it really mandatory to have, say for example, Neeshka (who I hate) or Khelgar (who I love) to complete the game? Oh yeah, it isn't. In fact, the only characters even close to be mandatory are Zhajerve, Shandra, Jerro, and Bishop. Z - So she can read the scrolls, and tells you about the Rituals. The Rituals could have been found out abouyt by that cool old sage. You nall alreadys quashed the scrolls. Shandra - Well.. You need her blood for Jerro's Haven. But, there's no reason to require her in the party. However, this is probably the closest to 'legit' required party member. Jerro - Scrolls were dealt with above. You don't need the Rituals to beat KOS. I surely didn't. In fact, during that battle, Jerrod did pretty much nothing as warlock powers suck,a nd warlocks suck period. Bishop - WOW! he can track. Big deal. I'm sure there are plenty of trackers around NW. Not to mention IN THE PARTY. So, in essence, there was no need to force party members on the player with the possibl;e exemption of Shandra, and that's even iffy. Hmph. -
"With those, however, it really looked bad. Just plain ugly bad." No. That is a myth. NWN's graphics inlduing the toolset has always looked good, and still do. Period. Surely destroys the brown poo that its compatriot of that time MW had that tried to 'pass' as graphics.

Volourn's Wowwy Journey With NWN2:Spoiler Edition
Volourn replied to Volourn's topic in Computer and Console
"I don't mind having party members forced on you - it's realistic." No. No, it isn't. Not even close to be realistic. Not even close. It's also the number one reason why my attemtp to play the NWN2 OC a second time failed. The idea of having to party with Neeshka again is almost as annoying as her. Worst. character. Evar. Poorly copnceived, poorly written. Too bad too as Mr. Avellone did an EXCELLENT job on 99% of the other joinables npc. Even Grob didn't bother me too much; and he's the type of sillky character I loathe. -
Some silly points by Volourn: 1. I find it hialrious that some of the same people whining about how silly or nitpicky or worthles this topic is are some of the people whoa re ppsting the most in this htread. 2. Mr. Sawyer has been cool in this thread, and makes good ppoints throughout. 3. While it's true that NWN2 has better overall graphics than NWN1 (as well it should since it was made in 2006 while NWN1 was a 2002 game; overall IMO, NWN1 has better special effects SFX espicially in regards to spells. Of course, there *are* exemptions to this. 4. Grom, you still trolling me? Good job. 5. The whole 'no skin' policy is lame, and it has nothing to do with being a pervert (though I am; but that's a whole different issue). It seems silly to take off armour/clothing/robes just to find more clothes underneath. And, the Warlock model shows that WOTC can't even do that right sicne they allowed BIG B00BIES to be shown. 6. As i said way back in the other thread, it should be rather easy to make a list of 'what NWN2 did better than NWN1' and vice versa. It proves absolutely nothing. That is all. For now.
-
Nah. I don't think it's silly. Just ebcause it doesn't fit into the concept of the 'real world' doesn't make it silly. It's a fictional world. It shouldn't work exactly like ours. Is Mars exactly like Earth? No. Nor should it. Yet, it's a real world. On top of that, underground can support life in the real world. Various cave systems discovered have various forms of life in them. *shrug*

Except it's not the same. And, you'd know that if you actaully knew what you were talking about which you don't and admitted to. R00fles!

If we covered this before there's no need to cover it again so why are you spamming?
