You claimed that a movie's popularity was factual proof of its quality. That's silly talk, and you know it. "But hey, I've sent you a few PM's about my concerns over your posting habits. I am here for you if you want to have a real discussion on developing relationships with people on these boards. Until you are willing to open up to someone, you will not really be taken seriously here, you will just be they guy who throws out the same arguments ad nauseam with no regard for others." Why troll? Stick with the actual topic about the Avatar movie which cna include comaprisons. Your opinion on me is irrelevant here.

Sure, you can. Oh, you eamn, you can only praise it not diss it based on video right? Anyways, thje video is alright. Nothing special.

"What was so great about ME's dialogue system ? " I didn't know the discussion was about being great or not. That's a whole nother debate. But, there is no doubt that ME's dialogue system has influenced other games and will continue to do so. "And DA's Origin thing, yeah, amazing really. Not really sure why it matters if the mainstream gets something in terms of a game being good, though. But I guess everything's been done to death over the years, so can't really be disappointed. " Wut? We're talking about influence, and if only a handful of net nerds are the only ones who have ehard ofs oemthing its influence is gonna be severely lacking. Sorry. P.S. Boo doesn't understand things, apparantly.

"They would, and lose." LOL But, no. And, let's not forget Godzilla, King Kong, and Jaws (thoguh not really a monster in the grandest sense since it's based on a real animal). "Dracula and Frankenstein were literature monsters first and foremost, no?" Doesn't matter. They are still iconic monsters with tons of movies based on them and highly easily recognizable. I bet anyone whom has seen a movie is above the age of 10 has seen at least one movie with Dracula. The number of people who have seen an Alien movie or even heard of it is probably miniscue comapred to Dracula or Frankenstein. Iconic doesn't mean 'I llike x more than y'; it's about influence, recognization factor, and everything based on them. " Dracula has lost most of his iconic since vampires have been used and reused for all kinds of settings, their look and feel changed so many times. Todays, the only features everyone associates with vampires are the pointed teeth." He hasn't lost any bit of his iconic status. In fact, all the new age vampire stuffm just heightens it. How many monsters are based off aliens? very few. To claim that Aliens are at the level at the aformentioned monsters is ludicrous. b "ut its undeniably true that the design of the Alien was the work of a (deranged?) genius. I don't know any of the symbolism behind it, and I don't really care, but the design just strikes as unforgettable." I'm not arguing otherwise. The alien is a fantastically designed monster, imo. No doubt about it. But, it's not iconic at the level of Dracula, King Kong, and the like. Heck, the T Rex as made famous in Jurassic Park is probably more iconic.

"Seriously, i'm curious. Can you suggest a game of the current century that's actually innovative and original?" NWN with the relatiovel;y easy to use toolset. And, its effect is still being felt 7 years later. The BG series is basically irrelevant outside of a handful of fanboys. DA with the origins. ME with its dialogue system. These two have influenced other game cimpanies espicially Obsidian as evidenced by how many times AP is compared to ME, and how they have even gone with the sasme sort of dialogue system. They're even going for soemthing similar to BIO's origin system. Even though, people don't care much, NHL 08 was definitely innovative and has basically brought the NHL series new life after some soft years. There are tons of 21st century games that have added to the game world and will be remembered decades later. The 90s as a decade are vastly overrated. Face it, the mainstream didn't give a poo about FO until Bethesda's FO3. And, I say that while eprsonally hating FO3. The same goes for plenty of other games. People need to get past their personal likes and dislikes and see the big picture. *shrug*
-
I hate FO3 but sadly Killian is correct. Bis was ultimiately a failure of a division. Seriously, how many games did they have canceled in the last few years? At least Bethesda releases games their audience wants to play. That's the veryd efinition of successful. Canceling games left and right, being overshadowed by our supposed lackey, and ultimiately crashing and burning ism proof of this. This is why it annoys me when people try to link Obsidian to BIS. Bis was a failure. Obsidian isn't... yet....
-
They're going to see it multiple times because they like it and it is their PERSONAL opinion it is good. But, this is okay, it is obvious you are just trolling. Typical of you, actually.

"And you forget the Alien itself which is the most iconic movie monster of all time." O RLY? I bet Dracula, Frankenstein, and quite a few others would argue with that assessment. "Alien invented the bulkhead/corridor as horror setting" Did it? Didn't the original The Thing come first? How about a certain famous zombie movie that was set basically at one farmhouse? That's just a couple of examples. "Alien invented what is now the "generic sci fi base/complex" Right.. It 'invented' soemthing that was around before it... Hmm... "The plot and concept were generic, but nothing about the execution itself was." This could be argued.

Sales are a fact that show how popular something is, NOT how good (or bad) it is. You can't be that ignorant so I'm gonna consider your post on this issue trolling.
-
Wrong. Sales just shows how popular a movie is not how good it is. This goes both ways. A movie being popular with the masses doesn't mean it sucksm like some cool internet geeks want us all to believe. I believe Titantic is good ebcause of its quality not its populaity. P.S. I never said Avatar sucks but is vastly overrated thanks to its deriative 'original' story. Avatar is an example of hype over substance as evidenced by most of its praise is due to its graphics not acting, wiritng, or story. Titantic (minority of punks notiwthstanding) was praised for EVERYTHING.
-
"Maybe we are thinking of "generic setting" differently, but to me it seems there's nothing generic about the setting(s) of the first 2 movies." Sorry, but it was a very generic setting/movie. What was so original about it? Alien/space movies like it were being made before it. That doesn't mean it sucked. Alien was a fantastic movie; but as fsr as 'originality' goes it wasn't THAT original. Most original partn of the movie was it had a kick ass female protaganist.
-
Coulda should woulda. Game may have had potential but it got canceled for good reason. Let the deadm lie dead. AP is where it is at.
-
"Titanic on our hands!" Titanic was an awesome movie that earned its money and awards through quality not hype. It's really sad that a movie like Titanic which was based on a real life event has way more originality, heart, and soul than the trashy 'original' story of Avatar. Titanic had a sueprior story, writing, acting, characters, atmosphere, music, and yes, even special effects. Nothing I've seen of Avatar will match the majesty of Da Ship Du Titanic or the sinking itself. That's how you do special effects. LONG LIVE TITANIC DEATH TO AVATAR!!!

"So not only did you buy me because real women thinks you're creepy, but your dead-end job pays so little that you had to save up for two years before you could afford it? What? No, I dont think you're a loser at all..."
-
"D&D must be a massive pain in the arse for developers. One the one hand you have instant brand recognition and sales." The number of sales one gets from the D&D name is rather minimal. The number of bombs for games based on D&D is quite a bit. Successful series like BG and NWN are the exception not the rule.
-
Because unlike NWN, BIO has made it abundantly clear that the DA modding scene is simply not important to them. And, whether people admit it or not, the DA user base will follow their lead. If the developer doesn't care why should the user base? The only reason why DA has a toolset in the first place is BIO's lame attempt to please the crybaby NWN toolset whiny fanbase. *shrug*
-
Good riddance to bad rubbish. Boo, and Minsc are two of the most retarded npcs I've ever seen to get the praise they get. Disgusting!
-
ME 2:OS DA: A ME 3: AP RSVP NHL 11
-
DA: gave away my 360 copy and working on the PC version. So far, I find the 360 version better. Seriously, the codex for the PC SUCKS! ME: Going through again to reach 60th level since BIO has gone the bogus route and are rewarding people for ghoing through the story with the same character. L A M E NHL 10: My league is in the S9 playoffs. Sadly, I got eliminated in the second round. BOOOOOOOOOO!!! NWN: That is all.

"But they were incredibly boring and no one ever did them more than once. It's just silly to take those into account and not other quests. " I love it when people whine about potential C&C in RPGs. Just because you chose not tom follow throguh in comp0leting these quests doesn't mean others whom did should suffer. Just like in RL, those who put in extra effort are often rewarded. Additional C&C - even for relatively minor things - is a good thing. Period.
-
"delay it for some reason untill end of this month but at the same time it's already "released" all over internet. " I blame the scumbag thieves as well whoever the scumbag who decided to backstab their employer.
-
That's because Obsidian realizes that NWN2 modding is pretty muchy alost cause (much like DA modding).
-
Depends who you think the main bad guy in DA is. HINT: It's not *really* the darkspawn. Nhilus is an alright villain; but he's not that impressive. He sure beats KOTOR2's main villainess whose entire motivation reeked of retardedness. Then again, I find Sarevok pretty cool as a main villain and he too isn't exactly of the deep variety either.
-
"*They really need to fire Gaider, he's burned out. " Thankfully, your opinion is the minority and has no influence. Afterall, if BIO listened to the likes of you, they probably would have been out of business 15 years ago. "The writing in DAO was far superior to ME for the most part." No, it wasn't. "The rest of DAO design unfortunately hews too closely to Bio's new paradigm of fight, fight, fight, talk a little, then fight some more." New? It's always been thatw ay but at least the dialogue and C&C has improved a great deal compared to the overrated BG series crap. "After spending way too much time playing games, you get to the point where you can see everything you need to know (95%of the time) after looking at a handful of screenshots." I simply don't believe. When someone claims they saw 'soemthing a mile away'; I just smile, pat them on the ehad, and go what a genius you (think) are. Then aagin, your list of games showsm how silly, you are. You actually like MW and TW. LMOA p.s. BG is, by far, BIO's worst RPG. It was their first and it shows.

"The combat was fun and quite challenging... " The combat SYSTEM was awesome. The combat itself was boring, easy (I'm talking KOTOR series/BL level of easy), and useless. The sad thing is, TOEE's combat was supposedly its 'strength'. L0LZ
