The Iraq war was a disgrace, but sometimes we forget just how much
Volourn replied to Humodour's topic in Way Off-Topic
If I am walking down the street and hear a mugging/rape/assault taking place I'm gonna ignore it ebcause, afterall, I cna't stop ALL muggings/rapes/assaults from happening so I shan't bother stopping one I might be able to stop. I am very logical that way. -
"...and you're the only one baiting." Posting about how much better another game is in a game's thread is very much the defintion of 'baiting'. I just got hooked by the obvious bait.

"Was sadam a bad man? Yes. But wasn't our problem or justification to remove him just on that. He was little real threat. Unless we are going to invade and remove EVERY dictator simply because they are 'bad' people. Then we better get the war machine cranked up because we will have to invade about 50% of Africa never mind asia dictators that also treat there people poorly." This argument is is one of the weakest when it comes to being anti take down Saddam. The argument that you cna't stop one bad guy because you can't stop all bad guys is silly. I guess that argument could be sued to not stop any corrupt poliitican or cop simply ebcause you can't stop them all. Hey, might as well let people rape and murder each otherbecause hey you can't stop all rapists and murderers. Lame. Good riddance to bad rubbish. Hussein mass murdered people and basically destroyed an entire country. It is a good thing his rule was ended. period. Just because a certain NK dictator iss till in power doesn't mean Hussein should ahve been lefty alone. That's silly talk. -
TW? Talkin' about TW? TW? One of the worst games ever? One of the most overrated games of all time? Poor writitng, poor combat, poor characters, poor role-playing, poor game play, poor poor poor. Only thing that was reasonably done well was graphics. TW? Damn. Sozziest game to ever sozzy and to pullute another game's thread with such a thing is the very definition of trolling. P.S. BG series is dead. And, good riddance to OLD rubbish. LONG LIVE DA!

" It grates me to do nothing but push the story along with one button combat and dialog (eg ME)" I can beat BG2 using just one button (or mouse click as it were). I'd find it impossible to beat ME with one button. *shrug*

"Your skill to rapidly make up credible numbers and facts is astounding... " You cna't handle facts. I do laugh at how people's perceptions over actual previews a re different. Some claim the previews are all negative and others claim the very same previews are all positive. L0LZ

"When it became apparent that DAO sold better than ME2" No, no it did not. This is a silly myth that some are passing as truth because DA had sold 3M+ in about 6 months while ME2 had sold 2M in a month. L0L The games are probably neck and neck.

You must be too old to remember it. Alzheimer's must be kickin' in, 'ol pal.

"You and the entire male tea party membership." Liberal democrats find her hot too if all the porn with Palin lookalikes and other Palin oreinted sexual innuendo is to go by. For myself, she's modestly okay looking for an aging old fart who is a grandma. As for the politics, overly dramatic for nothing.

"that's the reason our society is so messed up." Yeah, society was way better off when you girls were forced to marry complete strangers, when women and blacks couldn't vote, husbands could abuse their wives, etc., etc. Yeah, society is so much 'worse' now. LMAO ":: shrugs :: If DA2 was like Origins I'd be buying it, but the action-y direction and fixed protagonist are lines in the sand for me so I'm not buying it." *shrugs* DA2 will be absically DA1 with some changes. people talk about the differences between ME1 and ME2 but the basic gameplay is pretty much the same. "fixed protagonist" Less fixed than most games including BG series.
-
"I still can't believe DA ws their best selling game." This is a semi myth. It's in a battle with ME2. DA had a head start by a few months though. Not counting the expansion, I'm sure the two games are neck and neck. "by "adults" I meant people who were born in the early 80's." I was born in the 70s. I was playing RPGs before BIo was even making medical software. " I don't consider a person of less than 26 years of age an "adult". " Rather immature of you to think that way. By that age, young people marry, have children, work jobs, pay taxes, got to war and die, and are 100% responsible for their actions in the eyes of the law and other adults. Just because someone wasn't old enough to play BG2 when it first came out doesn't make them children. heck, i started playing RPGs that were more complex than *ANY* CRPG at 9-10. "Knowing me and my weak self-control," No worries. That's something you have in common with 90% of gamers including myself - at least as far as games are concern.
-
Do you read this forum at all? This very thread is littered with them? Gusy who apparantly gave up on BIo 7 years ago yet still play/buy/steal their games. reminds me of the Codex as well. the BIO baords are also full of 'your new games suck BIO, you sbetrayed us all, your new gamesd suck BIO, theya ren't BG2, your newm game suck BIO, you betrayed your 'real' fans, i'll never play yanother game of yours again... hey, BIO your new games suck and i know this because I just spent $80 on your most recent release... your new games suck BIO." blah, blah, repetive.
-
"Whatever good will Bioware had among older gamers may be slowly coming to an end." These so called 'old timers' which i'm actually one of have been largely saying they are done with BIO for about 7 years now... yet they are still obsessed with BIO and their games. L0LZ

"I may be wrong, but it seems to me that entrerix was pointing out that the piece sounds overly enthusiastic." As opposed to be overly negative which many here would gobble up (and have) and use it as 'evidence' that the game is gonna suck? People tend to only use prevuiews, reviews, and articles that 'prove' their opinions 'correct'. "it already did " No, no it didn't. No doubt that the BG2 crowd will be scooping up this game pronto. The biggest whiners are often the biggest suckers who will buy any game remotely tied to BIO.

"EA botches Dragon Age Ultimate Edition" 'Nough said.
-
"Bioware screws up release of DA Ultimate Edition" Why do you lie? The article clearly states it was EA who 'screwed' things up so why make stuff up? Anyways... Deep Roads probably had some of the most fun battles in the game, and was truly a legendary dungeon. then again, I like everything dwarf too so *shrug*... excpt one of BIO's worst npcs ever - a specific dwarf in DA... "They're shoe-horning yet another 'we love our NPCs so you must too' moment into one of their games. What happened to the kill-annoying-NPCs-and-that's-the-last-of-them principle that kept RPGs fun?" Morrigan is easily the best npc in the game, and a top 5 BIO NPC ever. Plus, I don't recall her being killable unless it was in a silly DLC.

I'm Commander Shepard and this is my favourite thread on Obsidian

"it was so bad, I had to take a break from it midway through " If it was so bad, justs top playing it. Games are suppsoed to be fun, so if it's not fun put it down and play something you enjoy. Gaming shouldn't be a form of torture. that's what work and marriage is about. -
Looks like it plays like DA1. *shrug*

"No, not if other factors indicate that the character wasn't that special. What you're saying is confusing it and getting it back to front - even in a book, a writer loving his/her character is fine, but if that blinds him/her and gets in the way of judging the role the character should play then no. So it's not really a criterion here." But, you are acting blind because youa re assuming because you eprsonally hate the characters everyone else does to. Even in this thread on this loud anti BIO baord, there are people telling you flat out they enjoyed the character. You don't think BIO hasn't figured out which npcs were popular in DA and used that to help determine which one(s) might be included in DA2? You need tot ake the blinders off, and realzie that BIO isn't making this game for you (or me); but for many people.

"There was even the one where he played harp in a greek/roman setting and had Uhura panting after him... I think he actually had more girls fall for him then Kirk did.." Nah. Almost every episode Kirk wa sinvolved with a girl - be it one he was chasing or one chasing him or heck both at the same time. Not even a contest.
-
"Its only good in comparison to the OC, otherwise its an average DnD adventure. Its also irritatingly overpowered with the usual epic level wankage." Hordes is basically just as good as BG2 - just shorter. So, I'm assuming, you are calling BG2 average. And, it's hard to take HOTU as overpwoered wankiness with the equipment you could get in BG2 even before TOB. Not saying HOTU isn't overpowered cheese as it certainly is but no worse than any other CRPG.

The quality of video games has declined over the past 10 years.
Volourn replied to Violetta's topic in Computer and Console
Here's a question... how do you dtermine what games are worth buying and which games are not worth buying? We ALL pre judge games (or any purchase). That's a huge part of consumerism. Like I said before, we ALL are pre judging DA2 (both positively and negatively), so how is this any different? read the DA2 thread. It's fuill of people claiing they won't buy it ebcaue they think it sucks and others claiming they'kll buy it because they think they'll enjoy it. It's silly to make it sound like I'm the only one who does it because youa re butthurt I dissed some of your favorite games when EVERYONE does it. R00fles! -

"@Volourn: the stupidity of criticizing games you never played hasn't dawned on you?" Woah... woah.. owah.. isn't that what everyone is doing in the DA2 thread? LMFAO It's called doing research, nad the like. It's how we humans determines which movies to watchm, witch books to read, and which games to play. By doing research. It's why I know I have no interest in watching the newest Barbie movie or playing the new WOW expansion (or, hell, ever playing WOW period). use common sense, and pay attention to previews, reviews, articles, and player opinions. Mind you, it was ahrder to do all that way back when in the dark ages but soemtimes you have to 'judge a book by i's cover' since one only has so much game time one doesn't have time tot ry every bit of trash that is released. Just sayin'. -

"The western world? This was all the US' planning and doing, they wouldn't listen to advice from the UN or other western countries." False. This was far from US only for good or ill. Plenty of other countries played in a role in iraq even if they were relatively small but that's pretty much true for any conflict. No doubt, there was a lot of awful stuff that occured, but Iraq is better off without Hussein. Period. I do agree that the war - espicially post war - could have been handled much, much better.
