  1. There's a lot of older generation actors that really should know when to stop making movies before they make fools of themselves and ruin their vaunted reputation...tho for some it's already too late. Oh...Hooper and Sutherland were in some stupid movie about 60's nostalgia in the late 80's that was pretty cute. Not a good movie, but cute. Can't remember it's name...(eidt - Flashback, 1990...and Blue velvet is weird & over-rated)
  2. Constant flashlight would ruin most of the suspense factor of the game, IMO. Without that, it'd just be another dim shooter where you run around and shoot stuff every corner. Plus yeah, the decision of dark vs. gun ready...I tried to make a short clip showing early flashlight use but it loses a lot when it's so small and brief. Hard to take movies in this game, everything's so fast. Zombie coming up the stairs - featuring my terrible pistol shooting skills. Forgot to synch the sound to frame rate, so it's a little off. Oh well. (590kb) And to stay on topic...a screenshot of an imp teleporting. Ooo, pretty.
  3. Looks like it was a fun party with some great pics, thanks for sharing them. ...are you holding a pickle?.....
  4. The fireball tossin' Imp. I kind of miss the pixely, brown, bigfoot looking guys from Doom1 tho... Alrighty then....I'll stop w/the Doom pics for a while. Haha!
  5. Oh, forgot...for those who haven't played Doom3, a tiny clip of the turkey puncher game. It had me rofl for some time... Turkey Puncher clip (285kb)
  6. Heh, yeah, I read one review where the reviewer said he started ignoring half the pickups to avoid ambushes... Still...I think they did a very nice job atmosphere wise. The flashlight business adds a lot, imo.
  7. Doom3. Not having played a shooter of any kind in some time, I'm very rusty at aiming and shooting...but it looks good, and the atmosphere is even creepier/more horror than System Shock2. I spent a couple hours in the 'starter area' exploring and playing/giggling over that turkey game, and since then, I've only managed to finish the Mars Underground section because the creepiness stresses me out enough that I can't stand to play very long in one sitting. Funny how a horror/suspense film doesn't scare me but games can - guess it's the interactive aspect maybe...
  8. Shooting a zombie, and it's really frakkin dark in this game (there's stairs in the middle of the dark pic, but you can't see them...)...if you have to reload your gun, you'd think you'd have to put new batteries in your flashlight...but nooo....
  9. Yeah, I'm loving that aspect. And the sentry droids...I want one of those, little robotic puppies...Super Turbo Turkey Puncher, Threeee....yes, I'm going to be up all night...
  10. Yes, I actually installed Doom3. Probably won't get far before I'm bored to tears but it's funny seeing all the little environment touches they made for it. The Pics, starter area: What you find in the bathroom, shadow-boxing with 'myself' in the mirror, and what a rude receptionist was writing about 'me.' (reverse order...stupid attachments...)
  11. Penny Framstad - and lol, she has a myspace page these days. I originally heard her single "Even Angels Fall" from mp3.com years ago. The version on myspace is different than what I have...I like the older version better. Oh well. She's kinda country sounding, but I still like her...plus she's local.
  12. Oh I see...this is a fan-boy "make a sequel" campaign. :D
  13. I think it was also discussed once when I brought up Dennis Leary in some thread.... :D Yeah I saw that on the news yesterday or something.
  14. *scratches head* I don't get it either....
  15. Blockbuster finally had a copy of Doom available. Since I wasn't expecting anything at all from it, it was mildly entertaining. Not, y'know, entertaining...just fun in that haha that was bad/look at Rock be evil haha kind of way. I kept thinking the actor playing "John Grimm" was familiar and had to Google him...aha! Eomer from LoTR. Much cuter in LoTR, hehe Did make me want to play Doom3 tho - not that I probably will. I liked the fact the monsters were largely live people/puppetheads rather than CGI. CGI can be so great, but it has a totally different feel.
  16. Nice, but not red text. It's interesting how every person (including me) has a stylistic preference that's pretty dominant to everything they do. And DarthPon, you do know where the 'resize' button is, right? Or just work on a smaller size to begin with. Users shrinking big pics down themselves to tiny sig size will usually render the text pretty ugly.
  17. Mainstream in terms of Neilson ratings? Those never really say much...have they re-vamped that system yet? I find on most game forums over the years - all of them, but particularly RPG type ones - that a large percentage of the "population" likes a lot of fantasy/sci-fi shows/entertainment, both good and bad. The seeming correlation always made sense to me, particularly given the average age range. Forums I've been to where the majority of the users rarely play video games tend to show a different genre/taste range - but still not always 'mainstream'. So yeah, sometimes different forum "groups" can seem like mini-demographic indicators. Most of those WB shows I've never liked personally, but I kinda stopped paying attention to most popular TV 10+ years ago...kinda like music. I'm turning into my parents. *the horror*
  18. Very Best of 60's Gold disc 3 :D But now old friends are acting strange They shake their heads, they say I
  19. I have one...Little Nikita, a late-80's movie with Sidney Poiter & River Phoenix. It's totally predictable & tries to cross-appeal to kids/adults etc. - usually reviewed badly but I still like it. The appeal of River and Sidney carries it through for me.
  20. "Khaaaaaannnnnnnnnn!!!" Wrath of Khan, The Undiscovered Country & First Contact were my favorites. The Voyage Home was a fun comedic romp of a movie but not traditional ST imo. Anyway, Paramount really killed their golden goose with over-exposure (too many spin offs too quickly) more than anything else. Movies I've seen lately: Re-watched Glory & Gettysberg. The Outlaw Josey Wales is next.
  21. The new picture-scroller feature of Frappr I find quite annoying. :D
  22. People will generally list stuff from their generational influence as favorites. It's a rather human thing to do, not just something from 'this board.' There's a lot of very old stuff I admire for media/format impact, mostly from my parents influence, but they don't spring to mind immediately because I haven't seen them in years and years and typically it's the more recent that pops into your head when you're answering some random forum poll. Plus a lot of stuff that you thought was great when you first saw it - especially if you saw it when you were a kid/early teen - doesn't 'age' very well in the memory, no matter how 'classic' it may be considered to be. I Love Lucy was huge and influential but....
  23. I liked the Cube a lot. The sequels were terrible, but the original seemed fresh and cool at the time...I actually like the lower budget feel of it better than the slicker higher-budget of the sequels. I think a lot of people didn't like The Transporter but I did. Can't think of a film that majority say they hate that I loved at the moment tho..usually it's the other way around.
  24. I'll probably post a few snapshots here and there too. I did, a little. I don't like the over-sharpened look tho. Actually the main problem is the crap quality of the glass I'm using. Often gives things a bit more of a grain even when it's in focus, especially with large flat light-color areas like the bread. Either that or it's just my eyes...
  25. http://www.gimp.org/ I haven't actually used it myself since I already have PaintShopPro, and it's a little more work to install than the typical Window's program, but friends I know think it's great. Pretty much does maybe 80-90% of what Photoshop/pre-Corel PaintShopPro can do that the average user would want to do.
