If they can "reboot" movies (and entirely ignore plot happenings in previous sequels) then they could do it for a game. Not that I have great expectation for a real Kotor3, but one can always hope.
-
That's what the ammo regen class mods were for. But then they took those away, to encourage using more than one gun and since they weren't needed anymore I guess. lol
-
No. Some of us like the action hybrids, hunting for better loot, and having something to do/think about than just how to kill/outwit enemies. And of course it's not a "real" RPG. It's not trying to be, anymore than, imo, Diablo ever was. edit: one thing I'm not liking tho, is the seeming trend towards Boderlands wanting to become a bit more online/MMO like. Not in a "it is a MMO" fashion, but ... well, I think it wants to be more than just a fun single-player/co-op game. Which to me, isn't a direction I like. Oh well, I'm an old fogie.

...sorry, my attention wandered, can you repeat that? ...

He's "sniggering?" What's the reason for being smug? I think if I was Pitchford, I'd be more concerned that it means BL2 doesn't have the player-interest longevity/replayability that BL1 may have had. It's not like it's that time-consuming to reach lvl50 - one just has to be willing to play the game at least twice with the same character.

Skeletons and Zombies
LadyCrimson replied to TRX850's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
Off topic, but every time someone posts one of those trope links, I get lost forever. Thanks. -
Daily stuff done, time to get my solo Commando to the Bunker. I've been over-leveling him a bit (side quests) so he's 26 already. I think this is the farthest I've gotten with a solo chr. in BL2. Feels weird to do mid-later main quest bosses alone. Usually if not playing with hubby I get bored and stop long before. So one lvl 50, one lvl 37, and a lot of 18 and under.

CostCo run. I'm not normally into "protein/nutrition" bars but Cliff bars aren't bad. If my parent's had done that when I was using the bathroom I'd have gone ballistic. :/ The locks on my parent's bathrooms were there when they bought the house. They were just the type that have a button on the inner side and no keyhole on the outside.

Guess I missed the "increased drop rates" of rare stuff weekend for Borderlands 2, since I didn't know it existed until this morning. But I would have had to go online for it, so meh...no biggie. Here's hoping the DLC will be awesome chaotic co-op fun. Not sure which chr. pair hubby and I will try it out with yet .. lvl 50's or ones in their mid-30's. Was disappointed that level cap may not be raised in this one, like I thought. If not, wonder how they're going to implement it. A separate patch someday? That might make sense, so then people aren't forced to have a DLC just to get a small level cap rise.

Oh I get that. My parents were the same way. I "owned" nothing, they did - I could go on and on. They meant well but they had control issues re:debt/guilt. In my case I learned fast to never ask/accept any financial aid from the parents, both from my own experiences and watching my siblings experiences. More stress than it would be worth. Some families are fine/great about such things, some aren't. It's difficult when current/past financial aid is used as some kind of controlling or guilt aspect. Much of the time it's not a malicious or intentional thing either, I think. Calax's parents just may not know of another way to express their fear/concern for a loved one then criticism and if there's any debt, that ends up being tossed into the mix. I can't speak for what might or might not work in Calax's case to alleviate it, but if he hasn't already, perhaps being more firm about his own boundaries ... otherwise one can get stuck in a loop of constant enabling.

Never played the original Fallouts. Loved FO:NV. Tried FO:3, couldn't get into it. If FO:4 is made by Bethesda (not just published by) then it's likely I won't be very interested...maybe at a sale price. But it will be interesting to hear any news of what will be going on with the game, because y'never know.

Skeletons and Zombies
LadyCrimson replied to TRX850's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
Sprinting zombies are visually cool in a movie and up the suspense factor. But my problem with them is that then they are just regular enemies with regular speed issues. May as well just be hungry cheetahs or something. I've never really understood the fascination for the "undead" in entertainment, outside of humorous value. The most interesting thing about them is how they become undead/how they can exist when undead, and outside of Liches in some games (especially if one can play a Lich), this is never explored (outside of "it's magic!")....zombies/skeletons are just fodder in most games, not much above rats. Same thing with skeletons. I actually don't mind that they're in a game (that is, I have no burning hatred for them) ... something has to be a common, frequent enemy ... I just get bored of them being such a fixture in almost every single fantasy game I've ever played. Every cave and dungeon or swamp field, there they are. Yawn. -
I like familiars because: it's cool to have a constant "pet" that gives you some kind of bonus or help. I don't like familiars because: more often than not, the familiar I like best (looks/personality wise etc) isn't the one that gives the game/combat bonus/help that I want. I always thought of familiars as a bond with a permanent creature, not a summon, however (probably because of some novels I've read - like the cat familiar). So P.E.'s way of doing it seems a little odd to me. But I'm not some expert on fantasy lore. heh

You can reach/walk to the spot as soon as you get to the Highlands. It was Claptrap for my lvl 19ish Commando. I think it's only Handsome Jack if you've done the Opportunity quest and then haven't finished the main quest that comes after that.
-
Neither did I. My parents attitude was the only person who can lock a door in the house was them since they owned it and if you had a guest in the house, you didn't close the door to the room. I can't say that it was unreasonable. Lock on the door in my parents house? Never had one. My mom would just walk into the room without knocking, no apologies. There was a lock on the bathroom door, however. Which I accidentally locked myself into when I was around 5 or something. Lock broke I guess, don't remember. lol My parents weren't as protective as it sounds Calax's are/were however (altho I had a friend whose parents were like that). That would've have driven me nuts. But I was rebellious/a handful as a teen...I broke every rule and they gave up trying to enforce them when I was 16, so my 'freedom' was high at that point.

Average size foot: 3? Hahaha.....yeah, I doubt it. Maybe in Hollywood, kinda like how most Hollywood males are all 6 feet. Hahaha.

I caught some of the original Red Dawn on TV last night, and as bad as that has aged (and it was never a great film, even tho I'm still fond of it for some strange reason), it's still 100x better than that recent remake my friend made me see.
-
It was 28F last night here. Make fun all you want about how that's wussy weather, but I was cold. I mean, geez, I had to toss another blanket on the bed.
-
I think looking for too much logic/consistency in a movie like Dredd is a futile exercise.

Level scaling and its misuse

Is this thread still going? -
It's not a story spoiler ... just an easter egg based on a viral 'net video from a while back. If you don't know the reference it probably won't be as funny. You can search YT for "double rainbow" and the original video will be first in the results (the "double rainbow song" vid is hilarious too).
-
Tonight was the 1st time I encountered the double-rainbow claptrap easter egg in BL2...I was laughing so hard. Went on YouTube looking for it and it's even better when Handsome Jack voices it. ... ( Handsome Jack is first, Claptrap is at 1:25 )

Magical Drugging?
LadyCrimson replied to Malevolent's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
For some reason this makes me think of Piers Anthony's "Source of Magic" (Xanth series) where Bink and his party travel through some hallucinogenic region of madness..too much magic dust in the air or something. -
Forget the two hobbits at the beginning and go to about the one minute mark. You haven't lived until you see Boromir doing the Brady Bunch Kids dance.

@Calax - all reasonable things. I guess for me it's just like how some get tired of "medieval fantasy" RPG's. It's nice to have something different once in a while, even if the difference is mostly visual world. I was looking at Steam's bestsellers "action" category earlier and it was military after military game. lol.
