  1. I tried to get into Farscape many times, but its mix of drama/seriousness/comedy never worked for me. Lexx, on the other hand, grew on me and is just far more creative/entertaining/weird.
  2. Those interior D2 screens are glorious. I'll for sure be needing a new PC before playing it.
  3. Andromeda is basically a tagline. They just needed something a little fresh in name, while reaching back to ME1 for gameplay, apparently. New name, recycled game.
  4. I said that while playing Stick of Truth but didn't really mean it. New Vegas just sits in a category of it's own, above the rest. But it's good to know Obsidian has made another, probably flawed gem.
  5. Same. Never have the incentive to join Legion despite planning on it. Maybe I'll do it this time once finishing the DLCs.
  6. Man I wish Skyrim was more than about slaying talking dragons and the vague war between factions. They should've kept the daedric narrative and presented it in a different way than Oblivion. As much as I want another game to roam around in, I just can't press the reinstall button for Skyrim.
  7. Mainstream media is laughably behind the times in comparison to what's available on the net. They're simply stuck in the warp of the mainstream narrative of giving people what they want in balance with an agenda. Trump wasn't on the agenda, wasn't supported by the elites, but he was good for ratings, so the TV coverage rode the wave, all the while not giving him a chance, all the way to election night. Now they have already started to turn an about face, because the right wing has been so dire as of late, they quickly bend their collective knees and want to be part of the action. So yeah, Trump won pretty much single handedly.
  8. Fox news still hasn't fully accepted Trump. That should tell all. Don't get all OCD on me. I'm not going to pick straws. Of course media outlets are going to be negative, that's their m.o, it's not the same as openly supporting a candidate as is most often done. You're either lying to yourself or out of touch if you don't see the difference.
  9. Sounds like combat is going to keep me away from this for a while. Never picked up PoE, but Tyranny picked my interest right before its release. Now that interest is fading. I think Mask of the Betrayer was the best one overall in regards to voiceacting. Alpha Protocol was also good/great (Thorton himself was a bit bland but I can understand their thinking). Funny thing is that those two, along with Vampire Bloodlines (which is *fantastic* in terms of voice acting) had voice talent that were directed by one Margaret Tang. Someone needs to get a hold of her for the next games because she seems to do a great job with the actors. I think Bloodlines' voice acting is more of the exception than the rule. Alpha Protocol had a mix of good and bland, as you mentioned, and Tang also worked with Sleeping Dogs, which falls into the same bland/not bad/not great territory. I wager it was the whole team and its creative efforts that put Bloodlines above them all, rather than one person, though she helped.
  10. Hillary was an outrageously bad candidate but still nearly won. The large majority of the country still votes the party line no matter how awful their candidate. In general, the independents bounce back and forth every 8 years after they finally get tired of the failed promises of the current administration or are simply bored with it and want a different flavored bubblegum. But, I will say that Trump's victory, without any media support whatsoever, is pretty substantial. Will it revolutionize anything? Probably not, but it's still unique, to say the least. Trump had media's support. There wasn't day during his campaign that media didn't speak about him. Media talked about him so much that his nearly non-existing plans to realize his promises were washed away by nonsensical sensationalist headlines. His lack of candidates in government jobs was realized after he won his campaign. And press successfully made people forgot what kind policies people in Trumps inner circle have, people who will most likely play part in new government. So some of the media smeared him and some plainly supported him but nobody seem to actually really questioning his ability to lead the country, which made him equal to Clinton when it come in choice as leader and then people had to only decide which one they hate more. In comparison to someone like Gary Johnson, Trump had media support, but I didn't expect to have to explain. Both the left wing and right wing media outlets were out against Trump from the start, and as others have pointed out, they're still slow to get why Trump was elected, doubling down on pro right or left talking points. No such thing as bad news fits here. It's like the more the elites tried to slam Trump, the more the independents supported him. So yeah, he won without major media backing of any sort, which was my point.

  12. There's a pretty clear difference between protesting and inciting violence. I think it's all a bit stupid to get so emotionally involved over candidates that couldn't give a crap about any one of us, but that's just me. Emotion is more of a problem than anything else as it easily shows the political figures which wedge issues to hold onto for as long as they produce the intended effect.
  13. Nah, there wouldn't be. Also race relations have been at a modern low through Obama's presidency. These riots are more of the same. Same group, different butthurt.
  14. No, it wouldn't be just vindictive. She only got off because Obola ordered his corrupt Justice Department to subvert the investigation. There was never a chance they would indict her. This miscarriage of justice must be corrected. Chris Hagen ‏@chrishagentb The Clinton Foundation has issued a brief statement: No Refunds. #election2016 #WheresHillary Yeah, I don't get this line of thinking. If the Clinton Foundation is the corrupt geopolitical front that it's believed to be, then just "leaving her alone" is by far, the worst option. Her run as Sec of State has affected the lives of millions, but just leave it alone now because she suffered a crushing defeat to her ego? If only ordinary citizens were given this luxury. But obviously the implications are far too reaching, despite the FBI's efforts, too many powerful people will want to keep the American image as squeaky clean as possible. I'd tend to agree on the Clinton Foundation with some reservations as below. I was referring to the emails primarily and Trump's threat of a special prosecutor. There Comey has looked and said there's nothing, that should be the end of it. Only reservations I have when it comes to the CF is that it's unlikely to actually be pay-for-play, now, and it's an inherently difficult task to prove there's collusion- especially when you'd expect most of the quid pro quo to have come in a Hillary presidency that never happened. I doubt it's as simple as that. Most likely case is that Trump had no real intentions of bringing things to light. These people are all friends when the spotlight and cameras are off. It's just a game. When things do happen to be brought up, it's quickly shut down, as it has been. Business as usual. Nobody really cares. Now America can get back to football and the holiday season.

  16. DICE simply tacked on a single player campaign probably as much for an experiment as anything, or maybe some higher ups told them "Hey, this game has no single player? Make one. We needs that CoD pie piece.". Even so, I think your numbers are way off. Yeah, many people used to play bots, but that was when servers were garbage and online MP had yet to catch on as of today's scope. It's a completely different animal.
  17. Nobody plays BF for the campaign. That'd be like playing Elder Scrolls for it's dialogue.
  18. Because creating a whole new array of assets costs an incredible amount of money and effort? Some of us liked visuals in Age of Decadence. They were low-definition, certainly, but they also fit the setting and tone of the game perfectly. I know. For me, it's just ugly all over again. Do not want.
  19. The assets were ugly to start with. Why resurrect ugly? Agree with you about AoD. You couldn't pay me to play it.
  20. Eh, another GTA in a modded skin. Another stoic main character trying to be neutral to a painful degree. It's a western - play up the revenge factor and set it apart from the crappy previous game scripts you've written. Or is that too hard a task just like creating gameplay other than traveling from point to point and back again from generic missions?
  21. Witcher 3 is a no-no? TW2 had such long winded dialogues that I can't be bothered with another installment of the series. I'm tired of that universe also and combined with unappealing combat - I simply can't do another Witcher game.
  22. Wait what? I've heard plenty of arguments that TW1>TW2 (something I disagree with) based on strength of story and character writing and those arguments It'll entertain and agree with to some degree, but the combat in TW1 most definitely did need fixing, it was godawful. The combat in TW1 was essentially a glorified rhythm game; wait for the prompt and hit the button in rhythm. The 3 combat stances were superfluous and added nothing. There was no feedback of significance, you twirled your sword vaguely in front of the enemies and stuff took damage. TW2's combat was far from great, suffering greatly from sluggish responsiveness, but it was still an order of magnitude better than TW1 and a step in the right direction, even if the execution wasn't up to par. Just a matter of preference. I'd take the simple/fluid combat of TW1 over the "try so hard to be the ultimate combat experience" of TW2 all day.
  23. I disagree somewhat. If you want all games to be set in the same universe, have the same tone and tell very similar stories which are just better written versions of the older ones, then yeah, you certainly don't need new mechanics. But the moment you change any of that, you need to significantly change gameplay in one way or another to reflect changes in the writing. Just about anything can be used to reinforce or in turn undermine the story you're trying to tell, and you need to innovate mechanically if you ever want to actually tell stories which are powerful and varied enough. Nah, not all games, I'm just asking for one to get character writing right again and maybe some good quests along the way as well.
  24. Witcher 2 combat was "new" in the Witcher universe, and it was absolutely needless. You don't really need new mechanics for decent writing and quests, and funnily enough I'm reading books more these days than I play games, but they're completely different approaches, obviously. Asking for decent writing isn't the same thing as wanting a video game version of a novel.
  25. The timing was mere coincidence I think. Also, I wouldn't bet on anything vampire over a futuristic/technological/post modern setting. Boyarsky says he's working on his dream game, which would lean more in that direction, hybrid steam punk of some sort, one would think. Either way, it should be good, whatever it is.
