  1. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/24926365 The Danish will probably be a target for the next 50 years over a cartoon. I guess it is now the Islamic extremist's goal to prove that the cartoon's message was 100% correct.
  2. "The team has still made some potentially controversial choices however, such as offering unlimited ammo (except in case of very special weapons)" edit: what, you think I get all worked up over nothing? I read that too, but I was thinking MAYBE the reviewer saw that the dev playing the game, or during the reviewers play time, SAW that the ammo counter never dropped or something and made the ASSUMPTION that the game featured infinite ammo. Reviewers have been known to make stupid assumptions before... I'm deffinitly on your side on the infinite ammo argument. Just hoping this is all a misunderstanding 'cause I just can't see the rationale. It just reeks of lazy design. I feel the same way about regenerating health in the CoD series. Developers deciding they just don't want to bother with placing med kits, or even implementing a medic system so they throw in the easiest solution possible to save time.
  3. Is it possible that the infinite ammo was only for the purpose of showing the game off and something they plan on changing anyway? There are plenty of instances where devs will turn 'god mode' on or make something easier so they can show a game off without getting killed during the demo or frustrating the reporters testing it. Hoping this is the case...
  4. Meh, I can think of worse ends for a sadistic... Anyhoo... I found all episodes of Firefly are available on www.hulu.com. Very cool, as I've just been catching a random episode on Sci-Fi, so it will be neat to see them all in order. http://www.hulu.com/firefly Quality isn't fantastic, and it has a few short (15-30 sec) intervals but it beats trying to catch episodes here and there in random order. I'm very tempted to get the DVD set as every episode I've seen so far has been extremly entertaining.
  5. Bah, if exterminating a village of women and children to flush out hiding places and murdering anyone the crew of Serenity knew to get to them isn't despicable I guess I just don't know what is. There are many, many things that people do that they believe is 'the right thing to do', it doesn't mean they are in fact right or good. The guy was a bastard who deserved a nasty end and I felt robbed of it.
  6. Love 24. It has it's stupid moments, but the show is awesome at plot twists and keeping me coming back for more. Sopranos. This is a show that I got into because of others. Its kind of a voyeur type thing as, to be honest, I dislike almost every character in the show, but want to see what happens next. Well, up until they split Season 6 in two. Saw the first half but just haven't bothered to see the final half of Season 6, especially after the ending to the series was spoiled on the news and by, of all people, Hillary Clinton. THAT IS WHY I WONT BE VOTING FOR YOU HILLARY! YOU SPOILED THE ENDING OF THE SOPRANOS! Of the 6 or so episodes of Firefly I've seen I'm amazed the show was cancelled. Also liked the movie, other than the lame 'hitman who gets a conscience' character despite being completly dispicable for the entire movie. X-Files was a great series until Season 6 where it started a slow decline into absolute lameness. My personal favorite of stupid episodes was where a religious group in the midwest worships a giant parasitic slug as the second coming of Christ. There was probably some message about the dangers of religion, but it was lost in the sheer idiocy. 'Look at that huge slug Earl! It must be Jesus! PRAISE JESUS! Lets go attach it to the back of someone's neck!' OOO, and another stupid one was a midget from India who... get this... crawls up people's arses. He follows people around on his little squeeky cart. Supposedly he's invisible but people can hear him coming. I'm amazed they didn't smell him either. I think the X-Files writers developed severe cases of mental retardation after Season 5. I think it was the move to Los Angeles... the sun fried their brains. I've really enjoyed the first season of the Terminator and can't wait to see the second season. Shows I'm mildly interested in (watch occasionally, but don't follow in order or make a point to catch each episode) Stargate & Atlantis The various Star Treks Battlestar Galactica. On some levels this show is really impressive, but on others its kind of meh. It has a great gritty feel, but it has a lot of cheese too.
  7. A lot of it sounds good, but I honestly have to give a big fat 'BOO!' to infinite ammo. There is something cool about running out of ammo and then having to rely on your wits/hand to hand instead of having your magic gun with an unlimited supply of bullets. PLEASE CHANGE THIS OBSIDIAN!
  8. John Rambo. First movie in a long time that wasn't a disapointment. Watched it for a decent war/action flick and that is exactly what I got. As for Death Proof, I personally found it very disapointing. Thirty to fourty minutes of bleh dialogue, a car crash, then another twenty to thirty minutes of dialogue for a car chase that just wasn't worth the wait. The story could be contained into ten minutes but it just drags and drags. I'm kind of interested in seeing Planet Terror though.
  9. I actually liked it. Its better to compare Fable to an adventure/exploration game like Zelda: Ocirina of Time. Part of the reason I like it though, is that I hadn't heard much of Fable, and Fable had apparently been hyped as god's gift to gaming. Its not perfect, but I liked the art direction, the graphics and some of the sand-box like features in the villages. You can also fart and burp in people's faces.
  10. The REAL story is that his 'friends' secretly hate him and think he's an idiot who will listen to anything they say. They actually want his sheep to get eaten so he will lose his means of making a living and be forced to move far, far away. The moral of the story is your friends hate you and you should ignore them.
  11. I'm actually having a hard time deciding. It would be a bit easier if there was more detailed information on these home invasion and how guns were involved. I'm thinking 15-35 years would be more appropriate. According to this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murder#Countr...ific_murder_law wikipedia article, the average sentence for murder in the U.S. is 29-40 years. It seems a bit ridiculous for this guy's, ex-cop or not, sentence to excede 40 years.
  12. Didn't TSR do a tabletop version of Diablo 2? Think it would be kind of cool if a CRPG Diablo game was made using D20 rules.
  13. Death Proof. Was so looking forward to this hearing how great the car chases were. What a massive disapointment. Hour and a half of boring @$$ dialog for a ten second crash, then another thirty to fourty five minutes of BS for a car chase that was so NOT worth the wait. Can't believe this movie has recieved such high reviews. Atleast Kurt Russell was hilarious at the end.
  14. Maybe I'm misreading something, but it sounds like you two, actually, us three are in 100% agreement.
  15. -150 Hours on Mass Effect... hope you aren't exagerating this as it is nice if Mass Effect is finally a return to Bioware's LONG RPGs. Only Bio RPG I remember getting 150+ hours was Baldur's Gate 2 + Throne of Bhaal. -I haven't played Mass Effect, but from what I've seen of it from video the combat is more 3rd person shooter while KoTOR, every weapon strike is based on a 'dice roll' by the computer. -KotOR II has a horrendously cut ending and many things are left unexplained. It just ends suddenly. There is a mod being worked on called The Sith Lords Restoration Project which aims to restore tons of cut content which will further explain the story and, well, restore it to what it should have been. As for getting KotOR 1, go ahead. IMHO it is a damn good game. KotOR 1 is probably really cheap at this point, and you will be able to decide if you actually like KotOR style of gameplay. -Must have mods... hmm. Nothing REALLY amazing out for KotOR 1, but as for KotOR 2, everyone is eagerly awaiting the restoration project. Theres also another impressive restoration mod that adds a droid planet to the game. List of Restoration mods for both KotOR 1 & 2. You might want to be careful though, as the descriptions may spoil the story. Personally, I recommend you just buy and play KotOR 1 without mods. If you enjoy it and plan on buying KotOR 2, then I recommend you wait for the restoration project to finish and only play it with that. http://team-jawa.kotor2files.com/forum/vie...&sd=a#p1873 -I really can't speak about graphics, as I'm currently playing Pools of Darkness, an ancient D&D RPG from 1991. If the gameplay/story is good enough, I don't worry about GFX. Also, while KotOR is older, I can't think of any reason it would give a newer computer trouble, except for maybe a system with Vista. Then again, vista gives everything trouble. -My two favorite game genres are shooters and rpgs. Because of this, I can't really say if a person who ONLY plays shooters will enjoy the KotOR series. The first RPG I actually enjoyed and interested me in the genre was Baldur's Gate & Fallout. So, I don't know if KotOR will be YOUR 'Fallout/BG' or not. Anyway, as I mentioned a few times, I'd just grab a copy of KotOR 1 if I were you. If you like 1 you will probably like 2.
  16. Tomoachan is awesome. Takes a classic module and adds an actual story to it with an Indiana Jones like beginning. I generally don't like it when someone converts a P&P module with no extra story. Many of the classics were purposefully left as bare bones dungeon romps to allow the DM to add their own twists and story-arc, so direct adaptions often feel stale (See Keep on the Borderlands, which was ironically done by the same author as Tomoachan. Believe he learned heavily from Keep and amped up Tomoachan). I played a bit of Tomb of Horrors, but haven't gotten around to finishing it yet.
  17. -Harp & Crysanthenum is excellent, except for the rather sudden ending where little is explained. Hopefully part two will clear things up. -Haven't tried Asphyxia yet, but it looks interesting. Set in Icewind Dale which is a + for me. -I enjoyed Moonshadows just like Harp. Excellent mod despite lacking companions. I'm currently playing the Dark Waters series. The scripting is amazing. Features a ship system straight out of Sid Meier's Pirates! and a card game similar to Magic: The Gathering (atleast I think thats what its based on as I've only read a small bit about the card game). It has some annoyances though. I REALLY hate the humor in the DW series. Almost every line in the mod is a lame come back. I frankly wanted to turn on my companions after a while and I've been taking every possible line of dialog to try and insult them and tell them to shut up. I also really enjoyed Pool of Radiance remastered, based the first 'real' D&D video game ever made.
  18. http://www.gametrailers.com/player/33438.html Daily Show does GTA IV.
  19. They were originally gonna call it 'Fiddy Cent and The Kingdom of the Bling Skull', but Indiana Jones beat them to the punch.
  20. I don't really object to a game getting a '10'. What my problem is they should give a few more '10s' here and there for different genres at it shows an obvious bias for a specific style of game. For instance, I don't think I've ever seen IGN give a FPS, RPG or Strategy game a 10, and yet for many people they would prefer to play that style of game any day over a GTA type game and there has CERTAINLY been a few games in those categories I mentioned that would basically be 'perfect' in their genre, just as GTA IV is apparently 'perfect' in the eyes of IGN for the genre GTA fits in.
  21. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/24280571/wid/11915829?GT1=40006 I didn't realize a persons hearing deteriorated so much with age. Apparently this device can only be heard by teens and those in their early 20s. This would be perfect for Halloween, after the candy has been handed out, turn this sucker on and blast them away.
  22. Have to agree about the box-art being poor, as I was one of those fools who passed on PST simply looking at the Box Art, not realizing it used the same engine as Baldur's Gate and had one of the greatest stories in a video game ever. It was only years later, through praise on the internet that I finally gave it a try.
  23. Deffinitly play with Tutu, gives BG1/TotSC a very nice updated look and feel. I've also heard almost nothing but good feedback for the Banter Pack. Adds tons of new NPC interjections & back & forth conversations between NPCs. It IS fan written, however I've heard it is true to the characters and gives BG 1 more of that BG 2 NPC feel. Tutu - http://www.pocketplane.net/mambo/index.php...3&Itemid=98 Unfinished Business. Think of this as a Restoration Project for BG 1, finishing a number of quests that didn't make it into BG 1 - http://www.pocketplane.net/mambo/index.php...&Itemid=114 NPC Banters - http://www.gibberlings3.net/bg1npc/index.php Numerous other Mods - http://www.sorcerers.net/Games/BG/index_mods.php I HIGHLY recommend Ease of Use. The great thing about is that you get to choose which features of it to install. So, if you only like the idea of higher arrow stacks, you can choose to only install that and not the other features. I love mods that give a choice to the player. You might want to spend a bit looking at some of the cool mods for BG 1. Even if you are a purist, like myself, you can find some awesome stuff that improves BG 1 immensely (I can't imagine playing BG 1 without Tutu).
  24. The 'big reveal' (about the water dragon) in Jade Empire had me laughing and shaking my head. Every character was saying 'OMG This can't be happening! This is an affront to the gods!', while I was sitting thinking, big woopty doo!
