Companion Attribute changes in 1.03?
Try kicking the party members and re-recruiting.

This game lacks content
BG 1 didn't have much content either. If the jump from POE -> POE 2 is similar to BG -> BG2, it will win over the BG series easily.

Nerfing: You've GOT to be kidding me - get real Devs
You can use those "cheap" Druid skills as well. Also, CC the pride of lions.

Didn't realize I was paying to join late beta...
THIS is exact the lie I was talking about! Espezialy computer games do NOT have that many code lines compared to other software. http://www.informationisbeautiful.net/visualizations/million-lines-of-code/ Quake 3 engine (just the graphic) a bit over 300k lines. Cry Engine 2 or Age of Empire online a bit over 1 millions lines. Unreal 2 engine around 2 million lines. Compared to something simple like Google Chrome which has 5-7 million lines ... Facebook 60++ million lines (WTF??? what for??? *g*). Average modern car software 100++ million lines. Games are NOT that complicate and most of the code is invented 35+ years ago and can be downloaded! Please stop making references to previous game engines and stating that since they have x lines of code, POE should be easy. You clearly don't understand how Software Development works, I'm almost convinced that you're just trolling now. For future reference though, lines of code != level of complexity.

Patch notes for 1.03
Wanting balance in a CRPG has nothing to do with mmo player mentality, as I would like to use the full selection of spells without making encounters trivial. Stop complaining and start looking into modding what you don't like out of the game. Saying that Withdraw should not be touched, yet never actually using it shows that you're just complaining for the sake of it.

Patch notes for 1.03
Probably needs to be re-worked and not just nerfed. Maybe set it to prevent disengagement attacks so units can disengage safely. Yeah, forgot to say anything about that... I think it might not be all that easy to fix without having to basically create a new, different spell with the same name, so Obisidian might take some time to think and test how it really should be fixed. Bonus DR and deflection vs disengagement attacks? That way you can "withdraw" but can't sit in the front and be an invisible, immovable object.

Probably needs to be re-worked and not just nerfed. Maybe set it to prevent disengagement attacks so units can disengage safely, but making a unit invincible always seemed like a place-holder effect; just look at the effects of the spell, -9999 damage.

A delayed release could hurt Obsidian's revenue as well, especially when we seem to be in a time of CRPG resurgence. When releasing software saying "just two more weeks" is dangerous because you will never have a bug-free product on launch no matter how hard you try; just the larger group of players when compared to your beta testers and QA team will bring in new scenarios that you could not have thought of or possibly tested. I agree that some of these bugs are serious, but saying that Obsidian should have delayed again to try and catch every issue while they have to consider competition, the cost to continue development and the financial state of their company (OE was planning on shutting down before POE) then it should be obvious as to why they released. If you're that hung up on buying buggy software, wait a few months before you purchase.- IE Mod and tomorrows patch
Agreed, take it easy mate. No point in burning yourself out over it.- Didn't realize I was paying to join late beta...
Every Nintendo game did. Pretty sure Nintendo games had their fair share of bugs. Player base just accepts them for what they are, afaik.- Didn't realize I was paying to join late beta...
Beta testers are not the Obsidian QA team, I don't see why this is so hard to understand. The majority of players did not access the beta. Also, the beta was a controlled environment with limited areas to be accessed, limited items and limited class options. This is how releases for every game work, nothing non-trivial gets released without the need for patching. Just be happy that Obsidian is on top of it; look at the content in the patch being released after 5 business days!- Resting / Camping Discussion Thread
- IE Mod and tomorrows patch
I think the BB updates normally over-wrote changes made by the IE mod, so I don't see why that wouldn't be the case with the official release.- Patch notes for 1.03
I didn't even know you weren't supposed to rest after every few battles in BG1/2 until i visited this forum. Can you show me where this was an exploit? My BG/IWD threw out spells like no tomarrow, and didn't sling for the most of the game. That woulda been bad design. Remember that while it has similarities to IE games, Obsidian implemented certain mechanics based on table-top games. In table-top, no DM worth his salt is going to allow you to rest after every battle, hence camping supplies and limited resting. In BG/IWD burning all your spells and resting after every battle is fine, but this is not an IE game. POE requires that you manage your spells like any other resource, if that's not what you like then you are free to play any other class. You don't have to play a mage.- Patch notes for 1.03
My experience with Aloth has been completely the opposite. 2 free magic missiles every trash fight with incredible spells to whip out in the hard fights. Wonderful balance. You aren't supposed to fire spells off constantly - nor are you supposed to just save them and never use them. Playing a Wizard correctly is all about rationing properly - it's a resource management game. If you don't like it, there's always Ciphers or Chanters for unlimited casting. So it's by design that you have to spam auto-attack for most battles? I like IE game implementation better, casting spells is fun. Come now, did you read what Matt wrote? Bad show, mate. This is standard for people throwing a fit. The change is clearly here to stay, thank the gods that the devs have some common sense when it comes to game balance. It surprises me to see people completely disregard that, without constant rests, your wizards in BG 1 weren't doing much spell slinging either. In fact, it was worse than POE wizards (sling and dart auto attacks). If you don't like POE wizards, don't use them.- Patch notes for 1.03
Why is the Chill Fog nerf an issue? It was clearly intended to be friend or foe, just use it like any other FoF spell. Slicken not having the duration of BG Grease seems fair enough, and it's level one. Try putting together some other strategies outside of "spam Slicken"? Clearly, more spell balancing is incoming (looking at Fan of Flames and Fireball, specifically). Putting that aside, I have to say that Obsidian has done a lot of work in a short period of time; the game has barely been out for five business days. Here's hoping that they can keep it going.- Patch notes for 1.03
Wizard level 2 spells - Bewildering Spectacle, Fetid Caress, Rolling Flame- Spells you used too often because they are just too good.
Where are these patch notes?- Hard mode is too easy.
I'm not a Rpg veteran, otherwise would be even easier. I'll wait the next patch and i'll restart on PotD even if i don't like hardcore modes ( i just wanna normal challenge, not frustrating one) Hard mode is the "normal" challenge, the mode that the game was balanced around. It doesn't make sense to complain that hard mode is too easy but you don't want to deal with the challenge of POTD, which is in place if you find hard mode to be too easy. Either move to POTD or move on. Just look at it like this: Hard Mode = Normal Difficulty POTD = Hard Difficulty Obsidian isn't going to up Hard mode's difficulty when POTD exists.- Monk Wounds Not Reducing Damage
Thanks, I didn't realize that the mechanic was changed to remove the damage mitigation.- Monk Wounds Not Reducing Damage
So, I'm testing a Monk now and don't see any damage mitigation via wounds. Not sure if it's working, but it seems to be broken when compared to the description. Is this a known issue that's being worked on or investigated?- Is there a penalty for using a bow in melee?
Unable to initiate engagement is one. No BG-like penalties though, which should probably be addressed.- IE Veteran's feedback
As long as you have a Barbarian for handling multiple enemies and maybe a priest, I don't see why a melee-focused party wouldn't be viable.- What attribute bonuses should have been
