  1. I took the dogs back to Jackson yesterday. The house is so quiet without them. It feels wrong. I'm packing up today and heading back south of the border on Sunday. I'll see you guys when I get home next month.
  2. My DVR is primed and ready!
  3. Vaya con Dios todos amigos! Voy a Hermasillo en el Domingo. It's been fun but I've got to back to work. You guys be good until I get back!
  4. That is a mess. I once walked out of a class when I got a bad vibe from the professor. It was the last day to drop the class and still get a refund so I couldn't waste time with him.
  5. Now reading "Hockey Night in Dixie" about life in the ECHL & CHL minor hockey leagues in the southern US. Great book!
  6. By the way, Pravda ran an article on Mitt Romney that is worth a chuckle: http://www.weeklystandard.com/blogs/pravda-mitt-romney-out-touch-out-date-unelectable_634772.html Wow Pravda, why don't you tell us how you REALLY feel?
  7. Gentlemen, I am pleased to report the Austrian invasion plans are proceeding on schedule! Soon the red white and blue will fly over Vienna and we'll tear down all those old Baroque buildings, bulldoze the opera, put a McDonalds on every street corner and a Wal-Mart where the Belvedere now stands! I know the international community might not like it but we don't give a damn what they think muh hah ha! I got dibs on Morgoth's computer and game collection!
  8. The Martin kids death plays into a political narrative. Or at least is being crammed into one by people who make their living doing that very thing. I guess that's why. That story you posted is very FUed.
  9. Isn't that exactly the problem? Some vigilante stalks a guy, pursues him despite police telling him to back off and then shoots a man when he has him cornered, claiming self defence. Police couldn't even be bothered to investigate as the killer claimed "self defence", effectively turning a stupid law into a free for all "license to kill", as long as you say the magic words "i felt threatened". Maybe it is good that it gets a bit of attention and especially the police conduct gets scrutinized a bit. This whole thing stinks to high heaven if you ask me. 1) The police told Zimmerman not to pursue the kid. 2) The kid ends up with two bullets in his chest and nothing by skittles and iced tea in his hand Those are two good reasons why he should have been arrested. If there is a good reason why he should not then I haven't heard it. But there is the rub and Calax is right here, we do not know all the facts. Maybe it is justified, but if there is a compelling detail that makes it so they had best make it public soon. Sooner or later someone is going to kill that guy. I am a supporter of the Stand Your Ground law but the threat has to be reasonable and I'm just not seeing it here. But again like Calax said we do not know everything.
  10. Anyone want a like new copy of The Song of Achillies? It stinks. Now reading National Geographic Magazine March 2012 issue. This is the only subscription I've never cancelled.
  11. This thread is over, Nonek wins!
  12. If risking your own life to save someone elses does not make you a hero I'm not sure what would. It is the definition of a selfless act. Even the bible agrees: John 15:13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. How much more so than to risk his life for strangers or their children? Uh-oh I quoted the Bible on this forum. Methinks there will be flames!
  13. Yeah that about sums it up. There is a reason I don't drink to the point of inebriation, usually. Somewhere in my early 30's hangovers went from being a mild inconvienience to a seriously debilitating condition.
  14. Ah don't mind Morgoth, he's always grumpy. You want to see negative just wait until Krezack shows up. But seriously, this guy is a hero. Big time. Maybe there is some hope for the humans after all.
  15. Very hung over today. My brother was passing through and spent the night on Tuesday, then ended up staying until this morning. Last night we drank a whole bottle of Knob Creek between us then broke into a case of Guniess I had that wasn't even cold. Doing that I violated on of the cardinal rules of booze, never chase liquor with beer. It's ok to do it the other way around but once you start on the had stuff, stick with it.
  16. If you thought it jumped the shark after book 2.5...yeah..I suggest don't read anything written by his son with the abominiation that is KJA. Just don't. Yeah the reviews on Amazon agree with you for the most part. I think I'll pass.Too bad.
  17. Now reading Destiny of the Republic: A Tale of Madness, Medicine, and the Murder of a President by Candice Millard. It's about the assasination attempt on James Garfield and the aftermath. It takes a talented writer to make a true story read like a WEB Griffin novel but Ms. Millard did a jam up job with this. Worth checking out if you have an interest in post reconstruction US history. I'm also reading A False Spring by Pat Jordan which is just one of the best baseball books ever written. I just ordered The Song of Achillies a modern retelling of the Illiad. I don't normally go for that but it has gotten really good reviews. Plus I was thinking about giving the Dune universe another look. I thought the series jumped the shark after The Children of Dune but Franks son has added a lot of "fill in" and pred-sereis work that might be worth a look. Have any of you read any of Brian Herberts additions?
  18. Mitt wins in Puerto Rico. He ended up with 82% of the votes which is no suprise because Santorum said some really stupid and ill-informed things while campaigning there. Next is Illinois & Lousiana. Illinois looks pretty safe for Romney, LA could go either way. http://www.cnn.com/2012/03/18/politics/pr-primary/index.html
  19. I can help you guys with the weight loss if you want. I'll be back in Hermasillo in three weeks, I'll send you some genuine bottled Mexican water. I guarantee it will take the weight right off and do it quickly!
  20. This is the smartest and most accurate statement anyone has made in this thread, at least since Mes posted his spot on analysis of the candidates.
  21. Screw the fishing, I'm in. I say Holmes, whats our first case!
  22. Please read this: http://apnews.myway..../D9THF60O0.html Exceprt: When can we expect our apology? Our president was quick enough the grovel to them. It kind of puts things into a little perspective. Unless some of you think shooting US Marines in the back is ok. I have no doubt whatsoever some of you do. We are wasting our time there. Nation building is a fools errand that will only leave them nice new facilities when the Taliban takes back over and kills everyone once we do leave. We should have pulled once they were deposed. Everyone who died since then died for nothing once the inevitable happens.
  23. You don't really want to get me started there do you?
  24. Today is day six of my three week vacation. And it looks like a good day to go fishing.
  25. Don't get into a big twist about Santorum, he's not going to get nominated. This little bit of political theatre will be done and over by the time we get to the election. He'll make some noise and probably end up with a cabinet job and you can forget all about him then.
