You wound me sir! Besides, I run to rad scorpions anyway. "I won the lottery".... POW!

I was playing FONV last night and, now that I know who Calax was, I shot him! Then I reloaded and threw a plasma grenade at him. Then I reloaded and led him to a rad scorpion. Then I reloaded and used a Fat Man... the possibilities are endless! It was like my own private screening on that new movie 1000 Ways to Die in the West! just kidding Calax, I didn't do any of that! But I could.

Here's an odd question; What the hell has happened to Bruce Jenner!?. Is it just me or is trying to turn himself into Michael Jackson? I think the Kardasian women are like acid. Whatever they touch they destroy. Looks like Kanye West is pretty screwed. But it was only a matter of time before he self destructed so we're just accelerating the inevitable.

Huge win in 15 innings over the Sawx last night. That's three in a row. Maybe the worm has turned. I'll be watching today with broom in hand. -
That genuinely sucks. Sorry to hear that. Hope they catch the SOB. No crazy ex-girlfriends in the picture is there?

In a display of incompetence that is nearly Cub like the Rays pitching staff gave up only one hit against Oakland tonight... and LOST the DAMNED game 3-2. WTF? They had bases loaded with no outs and the middle of the order up in the 8th trailing by one... could not get a single run in. Poor hitting, shoddy defense, grrrr. The ERA of the staff is north of 5.00 and no relief in sight. The Team OBP is barely .300. WTF happened? This was supposed to be the best team they ever fielded. -
Watched the OKC - SA game. Wow the Spurs rally are dominating. I suspect the thunder will be harder to beat back home but at this point I don't think the spurs can be stopped.

My initial advice would have been to ignore the message and send no reply at all. But after reading Raithe, Bruce & Gromnirs posts that would have been bad advice. Besides, in my own experience it is never a good thing to hold tight to anger even if there is good cause. And in your case there is more than ample cause. The best reply would be short and neutral. Ask nothing and offer nothing. Any real peace overtures from them would have to be to your wife as well as you. If there is a chance at reconciliation you don't want to snuff it out but they have to know there are going to have to go far more than half the way if that is her intent. I think one of my biggest life turning points is when I stopped hating my ex-wife and made peace with her. But I only did that under my terms. it would have been a shame to have not made peace but it would have been a bigger shame to not insist on acknowledgement of past wrongs too.

Gas grills are for folks who want to eat... NOW. There is just something satisfying about sipping a drink, relaxing, and just waiting for the coals to get hot. *Note for all you younger folks here, This is what happens when you get older. You start caring about the means as much as the ends.

Yeah from what I've read it is the best choice for even heating. The one I have now has definite cold spots.

Shopping online for a new charcoal grill. Mine was crappy when it was new... and it's not new. All the sites I've visiting recommend just a basic Weber kettle type grill.

Well, the Rays have finally started playing consistent. Consistently bad. Ugh. Thankfully this road trip is over and they are back home tomorrow. -

Rays have split with the Angels so far. Game three starts in an hour. They are playing better lately but still very inconsistent on both sides of the plate. It amazes me how many folks were ready to kick dirt on their graves after that six game skid. Yes, things still don't look rosy but they are only 5 games back and it's only May for crying out loud. -
I bought a new rifle today. It's made by H&R. It's a replica of the 1871 Buffalo, .45-70 single shot. Tomorrow I'm taking it to the bombing range and see what kind of range it has.

A leatherman would not be my first choice to cut branches but it is a hell of a lot more effective than a chainsaw that won't start.

Off the top of my head: Ever tried to chop wood with a knife (to build improvised shelter)? Its hard and it sucks. But its much harder with a small blade. But what blows even more is carrying a bulky machete or woods axe on the backpack. So a big knife is a good compromise. Ever tried to pry something open with a small blade? It sucks because little blades don't offer much leverage, they tend to slip and snap possibly injuring your arm and hand. Big knife wins hands down. Ever tried to use the handle of a small blade as a hammer? It sucks because it does neither have the mass (Inertia) nor the stability to be used as improvised hammer. Big knife wins. Ever tried to defend yourself with a small blade? The longer, bigger blade is more effective, gives you more range and looks more intimidating to scare off two legged predators. Big knife wins. Ever tried to dig with a knife? It sucks, but it beats digging with your hands or a stick and a big knife works way better than a small one. Damage. The bigger knife will endure more damage before it breaks. Also in an emergency you can make a spear using the blade of the knife as head, to hunt and to defend ourself. Big knife wins. I wouldn't call a knife/bayonet that has been designed for and used by a military force a ''show piece.'' Looks nice though. This.. is so dumb, I honestly don't know how to respond. But you keep on digging, chopping wood, prying things open, hammering, testing the durability (?!) and spearing with your.. knife. I'll keep on cutting with my normal sized knife. That reminds me of a funny story. This was like 20 years ago, I was getting my scuba tanks filled in a dive shop in Dania Beach FL. This real knucklehead was in front of me renting snorkeling gear with his kid. He bought this huge dive knife, the size of a old style bayonet. He told his son they needed it in case they had to fight off a shark. I really think he was being serious. I laughed out loud at the absurdity of that notion. In Florida it would be exceedingly unlikely to encounter a shark that could eat you, and far less likely to meet one that would be inclined to do so. And if you did that knife would do you no good. Just remembered that.

You know, I don't think I'd have drafted Sam if I were the Rams. If he stinks as a pro they don't dare cut him. All anyone would focus on was them cutting the gay player. No one will want to hear that he just wasn't good enough. They better hope he's got the goods. The it will be a win-win.

Today I was on a two hour conference call in which I dozed off for a good 5 minutes. I don't think I missed anything. If I did I'll just say I was in the can and hope they forget I was on my cell phone. Then I completed and e-mailed the data sheets for the carrier expansion for the Fayette Mall in Lexington. Fortunately I won't have to go back there. Then I spent two hours splitting firewood, weeding the garden, changing the oil in the tractor, and playing ball with Tommy my dog. Now I'm sitting in my favorite chair, watching the Rays - Mariners game, drinking a ice cold Coors Light and catching up with you fine folks! Pretty good day.

Completely lazy today. Woke up at 8, fed the dog, skipped breakfast, fell asleep on the couch while reading a book. Woke up again at 12:30, turned the baseball game on the radio, sat on couch on the porch, fell asleep while listening to the game. I woke up at 3, Rays were behind 6-2, turned off the game and fell back asleep. I just woke up again and I feel f'ing great! I guess I needed that. Lady GD will be home from work soon, time to cook up some dinner and wait for Game of Thrones & Penny Dreadful to come on. It was a great day.

The strongest drink I've had this week was black coffee. But I had lot of that. My current work project is finished. There is nothing pressing to do around the house, and the Rays are playing at 12 so the dry streak ends today!

That's interesting, the voting turnout figures for this South African election is 58 %.... which isn't bad ? You know I was reading an article today that talked about how the "Born Free" generation, the first generation to have never lived under apartheid have little interest in politics and low participation in voting. It's ironic that after so much strife to win them the right to vote so many are not interested in using it. Of course, the same could be said here. Youth participation in voting has seldom been real high in the US.

All of the sudden the Marlins are not looking so bad. I still hate Loria with a passion though. He's got to go. I'm also hoping Jeb Bush will buy the team. Not only will that give them a decent owner it will keep him out of politics. It's a win-win. -

Especially Tulo, he's having a career year so far. -
In the US election day is on a business day. Usually we get pretty good turnout on Presidential elections but in the off year or Mid Terms, when most governors are elected, only those who really follow politics show up to vote. That's why we end up with jackasses for Presidents and pretty competent folks for governors.
