  1. Yup... it's a bit counter-intuitive, but mechanics is required for finding hidden "purple" stashes, but this will only be activated while in stealth mode... you could even have 0 in stealth and still find hidden stashes, just hit the stealth mode with a high mechanics and you'll find everything. Bit silly imo but whatevs.
  2. thanks mahe... useful information... shame there's no one place to find these though, currently getting frustrated by all the locked items and only using grieving mother with her +1 cipher bonus to mechanics I think is better than durance... I think it takes over at 8+, that said at level 10 I think there's only a saving of like 4 points over durance - durance = 49 skill points to achieve level 10 mechanics, while GM only needs 45. Personally I like the idea of just rolling a custom rogue npc mechanics monkey for locks 10+ and bringing them along when required. But not sure if I could be bothered heh. I guess getting to 10 and then using the scrolls of wonder or whatever they're called or getting the mechanics resting bonus from the inns could be useful... speaking of which... does anyone know which the best inn / resting bonus is for mechanics?
  3. Taunt in this game is essentially the engagement mechanic. The AI won't disengage once engaged, so this acts like flypaper for the mobs. That first dungeon is pretty hard largely due to the spirit based minions teleport abilities that jump to your squishes. Eder really starts to shine once he picks up the defender talent +2 enemies engaged, hold the line, +1 enemies engaged and a weapon that also adds +1 enemies engaged, thus he can have at least 5 enemies at once held on him. I usually run two tanks or an off tank at least in the form of kana with hold the line and a relevant weapon so he can hold at least 3 more. Long story short, leave that dungeon for now, level Eder up to level 3 and pick up defender and turn it on (it's modal) and leave it on for the rest of the game. Tank problem solved.
  4. Ditto... Also who gets this talent... everyone in the party? Or just the main character?
  5. I hear you Sims, I felt the same way about melee rogue... or an AoE dmg Mage... before restarting as a spell casting druid. Seems to me like the only viable melee specs in the game are Barbarian or Paladin (possibly monk or chanter to a lesser extent), correct me if I'm wrong.
  6. TBH I wasn't really thinking that weapon / gun dmg would be the focus here, but I guess it would be worth it if it weren't for the fact that I'm now level 6 and have just picked up all three of the elemental dmg talents. My kingdom for a respec potion.
  7. So... Talents for a caster Druid? Thinking: Secrets of Rime (+20% Cold Dmg) Scion of Flame (+20% Fire Cmg) Heart of the Storm (+20% Shock Dmg) Bloody Slaughter (+20% Hit to Crit + 0.5x Crit Mult) Weapon Focus Soldier (+6 Accuracy for Arbalest / Arquebus) Gunner (x1.2 Reload Speed)
  8. who sells the Ring of Deflection +10? Not seen that one yet
  9. Personally I tried to do a speed run to get all the companions which necessitates going to Gilded Vale (Aloth & Eder Both Lv 2) > Magran's Fork (Durance Lv 2) > Caed Nua (Kana Lv 2) - Kill dude face McWizardPants & Unlock Path East) > Woodend Plains (Sagani Lv 3) > Stormwall Gorge (Hiravias Lv 3) > Dyrford Village (Griving Mother Lv 3) > Defiance Bay (Pallegina lv 4 after doing the quest in Ondra's Gift). But after that was done I back tracked to Raedric Hold + all starting areas. Still haven't done anything in Dyrford Village other than scoop Grieving Mother). Seems to be working out for me so far and minimising the terribad choices that the auto-levelling AI chooses for the companions.
  10. Ok, so basically I was after a list of "must buy" / "best in slot" purchasable items. With only a finite amount of cash and so many things from the vendors in defiance bay I'm wonding what I should spend my hard earned copper pands on. Any thoughts? Cheers.
  11. yes googled and yes found the same thread talking about killing anti virus and other background apps. I do normally use ESET anti virus but disabled it for the purposes of the test and same "GetThreadContext" error occurred. Started task manager and killed EVERYTHING non-essential to the OS... same thing, no dice.
  12. I get this consistently every time I try to start a new game since patching to 1.03. But never before this. PC: Intel Core i7-4790K, 16Gb Ram, EVGA GTX 980
  13. FYI, according to the strategy guide, if you tell the chick that her boat washed away or whatever, you also get a +1 might hat... but if you do decide to get her stuff back, apparently you get a 100cp reward + a discount at her shop in d-bay.
  14. So. After playing for 15ish hours and making it to Defiance Bay as a melee rogue, I've decided to start over as playing rogue is just not my thing largely due to the stealth mechanic being party wide and backstab only working while invisible and 2xPer Rest invis ability just doesn't cut the mustard for me I'm afraid. Anyhoo, after watching Wizards (aka Aloth) in action, I have decided that I want to play as a damaging spell caster of some sort. Probably leaning towards druid at this stage. Anyway, after reading how poorly optimised the NPC characters are, I will probably want to replace either the Grieving Mother or Hiravias depending on my choice. As such which of these NPCs is worse? I realise they both suck, but which one sucks worse? Cheers, Koth
  15. Can't you only have 6 characters in your party at once? Why do you have 7 characters listed?
  16. Hey all, So a week out from release and I'm keen to get some impressions of the more dedicated community members regarding how BB and the game in general is shaping up for release. I played the first BB when it was initially released and while the story and visuals far exceeded my expectations, combat, logging, inventory and the general UI was... a steaming pile of excrement less than impressive. As such I'd be keen to hear your latest impressions of the final BB that is now available. Does it live up to your expectations? Are we still concerned that there's too much left to implement prior to release? How is combat? balance? the UI? visuals? inventory management? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Koth.
  17. Opinions are like a$$holes. Everyone's got one, and they all stink. That said. Yes.
  18. Out of curiosity, was this after starting a new game post patch? or after reloading an old pre-patch saved game and continuing it post-patch if that makes sense?
  19. Keep up the posts all! Great feedback. Stuck at work and glued to this thread until I can get home and install for myself. Until then, any tid-bit of info is much appreciated Cheers, K.
  20. C'mon mods, remove this XP discussion from this thread please. This is purely about patch release update schedulling. Take it outside fella's.
  21. Heh, I see, thanks for that. I wonder how it was that I managed to get in then? From memory I got here from one of the two choose-you-own-adventure things from the main level of this dungeon. Maybe I passed some hidden skill check. Who knows, either way it's nice to have an answer, cheers.
  22. Last bump before I give up on this quest... ^^
  23. +1, agreed. /nod
  24. Riiiight! Thanks for this, that was the missing piece of the puzzle, I shouldn't have let the vithrak go, I guess I was getting confused as in another section of the same dungeon there is a small room near the two trolls and the spore dudes that has a grey door / wall looking thing. Behind this wall / door there is what looks like an Urn that when you press tab highlights to indicate that it is an interactive object in blue. Has anyone managed to get into this room to click on the urn?
