any particular monk subclass or role? i.e. do you want him/her to be dps only, tank only? mix of each? For example, I'd build a shattered pillar with 18 mig, 10 con, 15 dex, 15 per, 10 int, 10 res, as they don't need to take hits to generate wounds Otherwise for a tankier build, I'd go something like 16 mig, 14 con, 14 dex, 14 per, 10 int, 10 res as they need to take hits etc

I think in Deadfire it doesn't play to hard min/max any stat. They all have their uses. Might now stacks additively and not multiplicatively, which means that it doesn't pay to go ham on it at the expense of other stats any more. Additionally there are no real dump stats like in poe 1, I tend to round them out with 18's 14s 12s etc. Of course it depends on class and role a lot to give an exact answe. Which class are you playing? Might be able to suggest a good stat allocation based on that.

Spyglass Question
Koth replied to Gary1986's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I don't know, yesterday I encounter two situation where I can use spyglass, and I use it in the first one but can't pick the option in the second. The spyglass isn't usable in every scripted encounter, only those that support it. I watched cohh during 5 different naval scripted interactions. He used the same spyglass on 4 out of the 5 of these, and I believe the 3rd interaction had no option to use the spyglass but the following 2 did. It's use is encounter specific, but either way, once you use it, it doesn't get consumed. -
Portraits II

I'd really appreciate some watercolor love for my barbarian: source image: _lg _sm -
awesome work! thx. Thinking of using this for my fanatic. His expression lends it self well to the impartial / stoic goldpact knight side of the build.

Spyglass Question
Koth replied to Gary1986's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
From watching some of Cohh's stream, the spyglass does not appear to be a consumable item. So a single spyglass should be sufficient. -
Bleakwalker / Berserker barbarian is a crazy strong build. Bleakwalker brings the "Tankyness" from innate paladin defenses / auras as well as the tasty corrosive lash, Berserker with 2 weapon specialisation goes ballistic on the offense. And the best part about this build is that if you can stick it out to character level 10 (power level IV) you can pick up the paladin skill mental fortress which completely negates the confusion aspect of the berserker frenzy.

FYI, Eric from obsidian posted a reply over on reddit commenting on this issue where he stated that the intro was designed to be skippable and that there must be something bugged at the moment to prevent it... anyway... read for yourself... https://www.reddit.com/r/projecteternity/comments/8i4frs/please_make_intro_scene_skippable_after_youve/

When in conversations and scripted interactions you have to perform a skill check and it calculates based on your skill level plus some combination of party members skills. How is this determined? i.e. take say... mechanics... if I have mechanics skill of 2, and eder has skill of 1 and xoti has mechanics of 3... is my overall mechanics skill 6? i.e. 2+1+3? or is there something else going on?

Yeah I'm playing a fanatic Barbarian-Berserker / Paladin Goldpact Knight. For me, the benefit of guilded emnity is huge, enough to counter the endurance aura and make the accuracy aura amazing, whilst I agree, I'm not going to both upgrading it, 5% hit to crit is nothing, but as a multi, I have plenty of other options on which to spend the points. Just have to wait it out till level 10 when I can pick up mental fortress to negate frenzy confusion and it'll be smooth sailing.

Dispositions
Koth replied to Koth's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
thx for the link, couldn't remember... though I do find it strange that they don't list these in the class descriptions as they did in PoE1... -
Ok, so I plan on playing a Fanatic Barbarian Berserker / Paladin Goldpact Knight. Which dispositions are favoured / disfavoured to get the most out of my paladin side? I'm pretty sure that one of the favoured is stoic but don't know what the other favoured disposition is, neither do I know either of the negative dispositions... does anyone know?

Pretty sure that fanatic, specifically barbarian berserker / paladin either bleakwalker or goldpact knight is still a strong combo. Just have to ride it out till you can pick up mental fortress at power level IV (character level 10) and the paladin ability completely removes the confused status from your frenzy.

Oh comeon. Criticizing score before being able to play the game. Scores are stupid anyway. Though as I would give PoE1 7/10, 8 is an improvemenet. The few reviews I glanced through did have some issues with the game. We will see. It will take weeks before I form my opinion. while I agree with you in general, that gamespot review was bad to say the least, in the sense am wondering if the reviewer played the original or deadfire saying stuff like "Eder changed and started smoking in deadfire" or "the game is part turn based" like makes really wonder how much effort he put in there so am ignoring that gamespot review. other negative reviews I read seem to bring a few good points though. I'll form my opinion in a month or so. Also am glad the narrator isn't voiced in most of the game, it was awfull in DOS2 it would have been awfull in POE2. I couldn't agree more... the fact that he didn't even know that Eder always smoked, or even referenced turn based at all immediately put me off this review. I mean, get your facts right... That and I wish they would get the old-school veteran crpg reviewers to write these up. IGN didn't even have Dan Stapleton, "The CRPG" guy to review the game. I feel as though most of these reviews are written by millennials whose idea of the perfect game is fortnite. As someone who grew up playing the gold box crpg's like pools of radiance and curse of the azure bonds etc before heading over to baldur's gate and planescape torment, I really appreciate the time and attention that goes into a well written crpg. And yet these reviews score negatively due to their "verbosity". I guess times have changed, and game's ain't what they used to be and all, but please for the love of god, at least get someone who semi-enjoy's the genre to write the reviews rather than these damn 20 year olds. I apologise in advance for the generalisation. I'm well aware that are many young men and women who do appreciate the genre, but the vast majority (especially it seems in the game journalism profession) that do not.

a) She only does it for the intro and cut scenes of significance, which if you don't like it you could simply turn down the volume, and b) if you can request please do not have narrator voiced, i'll ask, please in the future, have ALL narration voiced. I love her voice over and think that she is doing an amazing job!
