Kotor2.com easter eggs
nightcleaver replied to Dark_Consular's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
It's pretty simple to do, actually. Just keep clicking a button, then answer the final question to get the wallpaper. -
I just sorta figure she's YOUR handmaiden; pretty simple. The screenshot... well... I don't get that. It intrigues me, though... a lot. to Neo: We can't assume the path KotOR II will assume, although we can make assumptions about the circumstances of the particular screenshot. It seems odd that Jedi, along with Darth Malak, would be attacking the PC, so I sort of suspect Force ghosts are still a possibility. Also, Malak MIGHT very well regret his path on the dark side ending, and he might not fully regret his path on the Lightside ending. We can't read his mind, so that's definitely territory that can be made up by Obsidian.

Which one

Regardless of what they WILL rate the game, they SHOULD rate it 9.2 or above. All of them. So there.

New UK OXM - KOTOR II:The Sith Lords Reviewed
nightcleaver replied to Craftsman's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
It sounds like it could be really awesome... maybe far more so than I've been expecting. -
Where'd you find out she'd be fiercely loyal? anything new?

I said bioware, because they have an unknown console title in development. It doesn't say, "IP", either, implying (from their previous inclusion of, "IP") that it's a licensed title. I don't actually believe it's under development anywhere, though, and I suspect there'll be something of a break before and if it ever is developed.

What's the last of the planets going to be?
nightcleaver replied to Darth_Gandalf's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
It's not the general assumption that either of those is the female Sith lord. -
Swoop racing, Pazaak and Turrent mini-game.
nightcleaver replied to Craigboy2's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
They've actually added a few. I know that in the case of Pazaak, they added some cards and other strategic possibilities to the game, as well as making it alternate whether you or the computer went first. (or something like that) I don't remember anything they've said about swoop racing, if they've even said anything. -
The game really hasn't been hyped much. I mean, compare to the first KotOR, even, and look at how much hype FABLE had on a ratio to how much it SUCKED. Some pretty high things have been said of it, but none of those things seem unreasonable - all the "hype" is backed up with evidence, where it wasn't ever in Fable. All the things we've read have been pretty moderate and without fanfare. Facts, and every now and then a reviewer goes, "Hey, this game seems to have really improved on what the original had". I guess that's just my opinion, though. I don't care about reviews for a game, but they ARE vaguely indicative, generally, of how good the game will be - assuming you care for the genre that game is in at all.

i wonder what dantoonie is gonna look like?
nightcleaver replied to jedigangsta99's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I wasn't aware they intended to make vandar anything like Yoda. But oh well. From the LA site: Dantooine "The destruction of the Jedi Enclave by Darth Malak's fleet during the Jedi Civil War left deep scars on the land of Dantooine-and in the hearts of its peaceful settlers. Many who once celebrated the Jedi now blame them for the sorrows that have befallen them since the disappearance of the Order. The Enclave was the only thing that kept Dantooine in the Republic's eye; without it, virtually all Republic assistance has been cut off. "The only trace of civilization remaining is the Khoonda Plains, a small settlement built atop one of the old estates near the ruins of the Enclave. Facing economic collapse, administrator Terena Adare found an unlikely method of supporting the colony-salvage. Opportunists have flocked to Dantooine in the hopes of finding fortune in the rubble, and their greed has brought them into conflict with the settlers. Even worse, a mercenary faction recently arrived on the planet for reasons unknown; the situation is in danger of erupting into violence. The paltry Dantooine militia can barely protect the settlements against marauding beasts, much less a well-orchestrated mercenary assault." -
I ordered from IGN gamestore... who transferred me to GameSpot when they were shut down.

Should LS, DS Mastery be in?
nightcleaver replied to Darth Drabek's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Maybe they should be rewarded for consistency - if they stay around a certain part of the spectrum of the ls/ds meter for long enough, they get rewarded with a bonus. They might make a script that calculates the bonus based on the alignment they stick around to. I think the idea of it was to reward roleplaying, anyway. I don't think it was so power gamers had a way to power-game by going through the dialogues, but it did have that result, and I don't think Bioware (or Obsidian) would mind that. -
Of course, this would mean that Ulic had begotten a sex change - in certain instances - just as he came back to life. ... but there are some interesting parallels here. Perhaps the story of "the exile" will somewhat parallel that of Ulic, and that's why these chronicles are important. Or maybe there's another reason for this altogether. In any case, I guess the history of the first Sith Wars in Star Wars known history will play an important role in the events of KotOR II.

I already have the game pre-ordered for overnight - but will it reach my the same time it hits stores, or the day after, on the seventh? Just wanted to know what anyone might know about what's generally done with games - are they shipped the day before for everyone? I would've asked at the LA forums, but from what I've seen by going there, no one from LA actually looks at or responds to posts. To an extent, the moderation is worse than it is here, even...

Plot question of the day: WHY TARIS!?
nightcleaver replied to Ivan the Terrible's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
There weren't any visions about the star maps before dantooine, only on dantooine and before the planets after that. I think the Jedi council was acting mostly pretty dumb as to anything that was going on with Revan and Bastila. I don't think, from what Bastila said, that they necessarily knew for certain about their bond. However, it's easy to say that Revan had become Bastila's responsibility, and as important as Bastila was, having Revan in tow with all his knowledge would certainly be beneficial. Personally, I don't mind this particular "plot hole"; I don't really think it's a plot hole. In real life, there are little details you gloss over and mysteries that can't be solved, so I don't really see why an RPG has to go off on some random tangeant in over-detailed explanation of why the the Jedi and t he Sith were fighting over taris, and exactly what terms they were fighting under. As far as it being a "plot hole," they wanted a dramatic beginning, a tutorial in a confined area perhaps, and they wanted Taris to be the first planet the PC visited as a non-jedi. Mind you, I don't think everyone should stop speculating; please continue. It just annoys me that people would make such a big deal out of something as relatively minor as this. -
Plot question of the day: WHY TARIS!?
nightcleaver replied to Ivan the Terrible's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
My question is: Why do you make the assumption that they were alone? It says they were part of a fleet, so why assume they were alone? -
Plot question of the day: WHY TARIS!?
nightcleaver replied to Ivan the Terrible's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
"reconaissance" would work, except that it's outright stated that they're in a last-ditch confrontation, trying to stop the Sith over Taris. -
But that's not technically TRAVEL, is it? You aren't even sending a particle through space at that rate, and it doesn't even imply WE could go faster than light... although a teleporter of some sort may be possible, in a very distant future, and that would involve the additional technology of large scale mass replication. I was wondering why you'd even need a "satellite," though. Couldn't you just have the two particles directly linked, and the station that was "interpreting" the signal of the other automatically inverted the 0's and 1's?

Plot question of the day: WHY TARIS!?
nightcleaver replied to Ivan the Terrible's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
A dramatic theory that I rather like on why they were "ambushed" in a last ditch confrontation with the sith is that the fleet was trying to be stealthy, keeping energy output to a minimum to avoid detection before they were ready, perhaps, or just sitting around and looking for the Sith fleet. But then, right as they were weak... blam-o, they're at the mercy of the Sith. Or, perhaps they were holding off Battle Meditation until the last moment. I can't imagine battle meditation as a terribly stealthy thing to do, especially with dark Jedi/sith about like Malak and Bandon. (unless, perhaps, it can be used in some way to BE stealthy) Then it would be just as simple as the Sith noticed the Republic fleet before they were supposed to, and thus Bastila wasn't ready with her battle meditation soon enough for the first strike by the Sith to not make a difference. Not exactly an "ambush," but the same idea. Maybe Bastila was saving her own skin, leaving ship as soon as humanly possible, not even bothering with Battle meditation. Maybe people overrode her and told her to escape, because the odds were just too great to even bother trying. Keep in mind that anything said about why Bastila didn't have Battle meditation up when the battle was going was pure speculation. Unless I'm forgetting Bastila being forthright about it? However forthright she'd be, if she were really just trying to save her own skin. I don't think it's logical to assume that just because only the Endar Spire was shown, the Endar Spire was the only one there. I remember the camera angle being fairly tight. Also, the Sith apparently have an idea that Bastila is on-board, and are somewhat holding off on firepower because of that. As for the Master's knowing about the star forge and such, well... it seemed pretty clear to me that they weren't exactly sure on what to expect. Bastila comes to the master's after the dream you have about the star map, remember? Then they start talking to you. They didn't have to know about the star maps to know that having your former enemy working for you, memories however partially intact, would be beneficial. -
Gamespy puts up the 5th chronicle
nightcleaver replied to kumquatq3's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Funny... this chronicle and corresponding screenshot are up for the PC version of the Kotor II site. The Xbox kotor 2 site on gamespy only has chronicles 1-3... hmmm... You guys get it late, AND you don't get faces. Sucks to be you. -
Chronical #4 up on the main site
nightcleaver replied to kumquatq3's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I actually remember Dxun and Onderon being called one "planet"; dxun being a sub-section of Onderon. While they've talked about them separately many times, I don't remember anything that the dev's have said to be indicative that these are separate planets. Speaking of the snow screenshots: is that a crashed ship in the background? Maybe a shuttle? Perhaps there's a little accident on Telos, and you end up somewhere you don't want to be ...
